Jigmae Baer is a filmmaker and musician from California.
Baer was born at the Tibetan monastery Khampagar, Tashi Jong to Linda Baer and Pema Tashi on February 19, 1981. Jigmae Baer was named by his great-uncle, the Eighth Kyabje Dorzong Rinpoche.
Baer grew up in Santa Monica and Trinity County, CA. Baer attended Westland School, Trinity High, and U.C. Santa Cruz where he studied literature. Baer's first job as a teenager was on the Trinity River where he became a class V commercial whitewater guide and returned for many summers.
At age 21, Baer moved into John Dwyer's house in the Lower Haight of San Francisco. Baer was a musician in bands Royal Baths, Thee Ohsees, Lodro, The Perverts, Ty Segall, and the Tea Elles, as well as other uncredited performances.
Baer has made a low budget indie feature, music videos, and experimental comedy.
