Emily Carman(I)
Dr. Emily Carman is a film historian on the faculty of Chapman University in Orange, California. She is an associate professor in the Dodge College of Film and Media. She graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree; then earned her Master of Arts and Ph.D. in cinema and media from UCLA. She researched and wrote a book about female stars who challenged the Hollywood studio system. "Independent Stardom: Freelance Women in the Hollywood Studio System" was published by the University of Texas in 2015. She is a writer and commentator about the Hollywood cinema, especially its golden era of the 1930s and 1940s.
