Chorki, one of the leaders in Bangladesh’s fiercely competitive Bengali-language streaming landscape, has revealed a strong 2023 slate.
The 25-strong lineup is director-driven, helmed by 25 of the leading lights of the Bangladesh industry. Mostofa Sarwar Farooki (“No Land’s Man”), leads the slate with “Ministry of Love,” details of which are under wraps at the moment. Bengali filmmaker, actor and politician Raj Chakraborty is all set to make his debut on the digital space with ‘Dm Mallika’ for streaming portal hoichoi. Raj Chakraborty, who is famous for making blockbuster commercial entertainers, is finally stepping into the Ott space with his series ‘Dm Mallika’. Stepping into its sixth year, Hoichoi, revealed 21 shows from India and four from Bangladesh at a gala event in Kolkata on Tuesday. Content creators Srijit Mukherji, Dhrubo Banerjee, Anirban Bhattacharya, Sahana Dutta, Syed Ahmed Shawki, Ashfaque Nipun and others continue their journey with Hoichoi, while Raj Chakraborty and Arindam Sil are making their streaming debuts.
Hoichoi co-founder Vishnu Mohta said that the streamer’s monthy active users have increased by 40 and its international user base has risen by 30. Operated by studio Svf Entertainment, Hoichoi was launched in 2017.

The Bangladesh Oscar Committee has selected acclaimed anthology film “Sincerely Yours, Dhaka” as the country’s entry to the 2021 Oscars’ international feature film category.

The film is produced by Faridur Reza and Ebne Hasan Khan for leading Bangladeshi studio Impress Telefilm. The project was the brainchild of “Dhaka” creative producer Abu Shahed Emon, a directing masters graduate of the Korea National University of Arts. His debut feature, 2014’s “Jalal’s Story,” was Bangladesh’s entry in the Oscar foreign-language category and was nominated for the New Currents Award at Busan.
“Sincerely Yours, Dhaka” had its world premiere at Busan and has since played at more than 20 festivals worldwide.

From the likes of ‘Paris, je t’aime’ to ‘New York, I Love You’, here comes a film from Bangladesh as a letter to its capital- Dhaka. ‘ Iti, Tomari Dhaka is an anthology film of shorts with the central theme being the titular city. While it’s not as an out-and-out love-letter to the city, it does present romanticism in the form of characters that have a love-hate relationship with it. Moreover, it gives the honest portrayal of their respective feelings towards a city that they’re a part of. The film had a world premiere at Busan International Film Festival and it is a part of this year’s London Indian Film Festival (Liff).
