Drew is a filmmaker hailing from Perth, Western Australia. He is a natural leader who feels at home when collaborating with others. His initial success was centred around the idea of crafting projects off his own back - a do the work, and it'll get noticed philosophy, rather than waiting for permission to create. This approach led to the creation of multiple humour-filled commercial spots, beginning with his 2015 Doritos Crash the Super Bowl Entry 'The New Sound' and his 2017 Supercheap Auto $30,000 competition win 'The Rarest Card' - which paved the way for his career as a commercial director.
Alongside Drew's commercial endeavours, in 2019 he finished production on the dark-comedy short 'Simon. You're Done'. This led to a screening circuit at various festivals, including the 2020 Cinefest Oz Festival and multiple Q&A events hosted by him and fellow collaborator Peter Cheng.
In 2021, Drew established OldModern, a film collective, alongside his producer and friend Cameron Davis. Together, they have embarked on various commercial and creative projects. A standout collaboration with the BMG-signed group 'The Faim' resulted in a music video that garnered over 1 million views and earned them the West Australian Screen Culture Award for 'Innovation in Music Video.'
In 2023 Drew shifted gears back to narrative filmmaking with his latest undertaking, 'The Hug.' Initially conceived during a heartfelt goodbye with a group of mates at the local pub, the project has since grown into a meaningful endeavour. The film reached completion in early 2024, ready to hit the festival circuit.
