- Marie Severin was born on August 21, 1929 in Nassau, New York, USA. She was a writer, known for Spider-Woman (1979) and Secret Origin: The Story of DC Comics (2010). She died on August 29, 2018 in Massapequa, Long Island, New York, USA.
- She was inducted into the Will Eisner Comics Hall of Fame in 2001.
- She started out as a colorist for EC Comics when her brother, comic book artist John Severin, needed someone to color his pages. She joined Marvel Comics in the late 1950s, working as a production and paste-up artist and colorist before going on to pencil and ink stories in her own right. She was Marvel's head colorist until 1972, after which she concentrated on penciling and inking.
- She was a comic book artist and colorist best known for her work for Marvel, including The Incredible Hulk and Kull the Conqueror. She designed Spider-Woman's original costume, and designed and illustrated merchandise for Marvel's Special Projects division. She also did work for DC, Claypool Comics, and Fantagraphics.
