During his senior year of college at Yeshiva, a small Jewish university in Washington Heights, New York City, Ryan Turell averaged 27.1 points per game — leading all of men’s college basketball. Some came to calling him “the Jewish Larry Bird,” given his blond mop and prowess from long distance, shooting over 46% from beyond the three-point arc. In 2022, the Motor City Cruise, the Detroit Pistons’ G League affiliate, selected him 27th overall in the NBA G League Draft. And with that, Turell made history.
You see, Turell isn’t just Jewish...

Los Angeles Lakers fans dreaming of a “Big Three” on the team if Kyrie Irving joined are not going to like what happened this afternoon.
Instead of joining LeBron James and Anthony Davis, Irving is headed from the Brooklyn Nets to the Dallas Mavericks.
Brooklyn gets back guard Spencer Dinwiddie (a former Net), as well as forward Dorian Finney-Smith, an unprotected 2029 first-round selection, as well as 2027 and 2029 second-round picks. The news was first reported by the Athletic.
Irving is averaging 27.1 points, 5.3 assists and 5.1 rebounds and was named to the all-star team. But his time in Brooklyn was filled with turmoil, culminating in a suspension for endorsing a film filled with antisemitic tropes. He also missed two-thirds of last season due to his refusal to adhere to New York’s Covid-19 vaccine mandates.
The NBA trade deadline was Thursday, putting pressure on the Nets for a quick move. Irving threatened to...

Jimmy Kimmel Live‘s most popular segment is probably Mean Tweets and this time the late-night host tapped NBA players to read out haters’ tweets.
The clip includes everyone from Shaquille O’Neal to Dwight Howard to Grant Hill being forced to confront the unfortunate things basketball fans have said about them online.
“Shaquille O’Neal?” O’Neal reads off Twitter. “More like Shaquille-Hasn’t-Missed a Meal.” He responds, “That’s a good one. Tell your mother, ‘Make my sandwich and be naked when I get there.'”

New York, Dec 22 (Ians) The 2020-21 NBA season will begin with a blockbuster opening-night doubleheader with the Golden State Warriors visiting the Brooklyn Nets and defending champions Los Angeles Lakers taking on the intracity rival LA Clippers.
The opening night on Tuesday will see NBA MVPs Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and LeBron James and two-time NBA Finals Mvp Kawhi Leonard in action. It will also mark the return of Curry, Durant and Kyrie Irving as the trio look primed to put on a spectacle on Day 1.
Durant's first game in 18 months (excluding the preseason) -- and first as a Net -- comes against the team with whom he won two NBA championships and two NBA Finals Mvp awards.
"Every drill that I've done, I've been going as hard as I could. I've been in the league for 14 years. Even if I didn't have an Achilles', I probably wouldn't be 100 per cent.

Newly minted Oscar winner Spike Lee is teaming up with “Black Panther” star Michael B. Jordan on a new short film for Coach that explores the way we hold words and objects close to our hearts – and how they can impact the way we live our lives.
Titled “Words Matter,” the 90-second spot was released this week and features Jordan, the current global face of Coach menswear, riding his motorcycle through the scenic landscape of the Southern California desert. The actor pulls up to a dusty clearing, where he soon spots rocks scrawled with negative words hidden among the cracked desert floor. Taking action into his own hands — literally — he casts the bad stones aside and replaces them with rocks engraved with more positive words. “Bigotry” becomes “Love”; “Lies” becomes “Truth”; and “Evil” becomes “Dream.”
Lee directed and co-wrote the film with his children Satchel and Jackson Lee, while Coach...
