Director Ritam Srivastav, who is awaiting the release of his web series ‘Rafuchakkar’, recalled an incident when the shooting in Uttarakhand coincided with a procession. However, the director shared that the attendees were kind enough to help them with the logistics of the shoot.
The web series has been shot in multiple locations across the country — Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Nainital, Delhi, Udaipur and Alwar — where actor Maniesh Paul has donned his multiple looks.
Srivastav told Ians, “We were shooting in Nainital on June 15 last year, which also happened to be the foundation day of Kainchi Dham Neem Karoli Baba Ashram and the entire city was filled with the Baba’s followers, with 7-8 lakh people gathering there to seek his blessings. It was difficult to shoot.
“But we had to shoot that day itself as we had a tight schedule and it was difficult for the cast and crew to move.

Jhund
Starring Amitabh Bachchan
Written & Directed by Nagraj Manjule
Jhund gets it right… Eventually. While it finds its way out into the light, there is plenty that Jhund gets wrong. The slum-soccer theme goes from dream to scheme with scarcely a scream . It all happens too abruptly: one minute we see Vijay Borade(real name Barse)scrutinizing the slumboys as reformative cases. The next thing we know the boys are rallying around their soccer messiah , their distrust and disdain magically alchemized into a deep commitment. Soon after they are playing that decisive match: you know, the one where the underdogs will beat the football snobs on the field while the two coaches from the two sides speak of their teams with the protective ferocity of lions guarding cubs.
But the pre-intermission match just goes on and on, and on. And yet barring one, we barely get an opportunity to get to know the slumkids closely.

Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari
Starring Manoj Bajpai,Diljit Dosanjh, Fatima Sana Sheikh, Sripiya Pilagoaonkar, Anu Kapoor
Directed by Abhishek Sharma
Suppose Tom was a Sardarji and Jerry a Maharashtrian. And suppose, just for the heck of it, they were at war because Tom was dating Jerry’s sister? Funny, no?
Not the most original of ideas for a rom-com on oneupmanship, this comedy has the makings of quite a durable laughathon. It’s fun while it lasts, but falls short of breath by overstaying its welcome.
Who makes comedies that stretch to 2 hours and 15 minutes of playing-time? But luckily I didn’t find the length unbearable, thanks to Manoj Bajpai and Dilijit Dosanjh whose killer vibes for one another give the comedy the fuel and the fire that it needs to sustain itself to the very end.The supporting cast, too, is incredibly in-mood, all revved up to roar with...

Happy Hardy Heer
Starring Himesh Reshamiyya, Sonia Mann
Directed by Raka
It is difficult to evaluate the true merits of this film. Most of the playing-time is devoted to projecting the film’s leading man as a multi-talented mass entertainer with his finger on the pulse. Himesh Reshamiyya not only plays a double role he makes sure his presence is felt in every frame even when he is not there.
There are songs, some of them quite pleasing to the ear, composed by Himesh carpeting the soundtrack. Surprisingly Himesh doesn’t sing all the songs in his own voice, though he does seem to sing all the time on screen. Even when some of the songs don’t go with the plot they are meant to remind us that Himesh is a force to rock-on with.
The frilly film is shot in around London. Looking pretty as a postcard (cinematographer...

Happy Phirr Bhaag Jayegi
Starring Sonakshi Sinha, Jassi Gill, Jiimy Sheirgil, Denzil Smith, Aparshakti Khurrana
Directed by Mudassar Aziz
A rom-com works—and this one sure does!—only when the writer and the cast have fun doing it. By that reckoning , the writer-director Mudassar Aziz and his delectable cast must have enjoyed themselves as though there is no tomorrow.
As far as sequels go Happy Phirr Bhaag Jayegi (Hpbj) is a long-legged sprinter. It hops skips and gambols through a maze of amusing incidents woven around some of the most wittily constructed yet inoffensive ethnic jokes seen and heard in Hindi cinema, notorious for insulting cultures and nationalities.
Most of the comedy of mistaken identity is set in China , and that in itself unique. The last time a Hindi film took us to that vast country of illimitable possibilities was when Nikhil Advani made that unintentionally hilarious Akshay-Deepika fiasco Chandni Chowk To China.

Pad Man
Starring Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor, Radhika Apte
Directed by R Balki
There was Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s stunning Padmaavat two weeks ago. There is the stunning-in-its-own-right Pad Man this week.
There is the period film. And then there is the film about the periods. Excellence comes in many packages. But rarely in a small secret package wrapped a newspaper. Sometimes these packages cost Rs 55 and are completely out of reach for the non-urban women of India.
One man in Tamil Nadu, who is miraculously a convincingly-transformed North Indian in Pad Man, decided to do something about making sanitary pads affordable to poor women. The thought was not just unmentionable, but also outrageous. It still is.The pain humiliation, strife and final victory of Laxmikant Chauhan is narrated in a series of quickly-cut quirky bitterly humorous episodes (editor Chandan Arora can take a bow) that could easily have become caricatured,...
