- Mike used to email jokes to Penthouse founder Bob Guccione and his wife April till Bob's death. Mike felt it was an honor to entertain Bob and his wife April and make them laugh.
- His older brother Derrel W. Sims is a famous UFO researcher and has been on numerous TV shows.
- His daughter Maribeth is a published author as well from age 13.
- As a teenager and young man Mike became proficient in Kyudo (Japanese Archery) and Kenjitsu (Japanese Sword fighting).
- Before the movie Twister came out Mike enjoyed storm chasing and was actually under a forming tornado narrowly escaping it.
- His book Southern Cross borrows some of the characters from his Vickie books.
- Mike used to produce corporate videos and graphic designs for companies. Now produces video teasers for book authors.
- The Vickie series of books have been translated in various languages and made into audio books. His books narrated in Spanish were performed by the actress Leni Rico Maria Magdalena.
- Mike has published a Vickie series of books so titled "Vickie", "Valkyrie" and "Vic/Tim". These books had insights from famous people including a well known astrophysicist. Mike was helped to publish these books by his friend Nicole Andani who works in TV commercial/infomercial product business. His books were originally picked up by Tate Publishing but left just before the publisher went out of business.
- Mike worked with Richard Hatch on producing a UFO documentary video for Mike's brother Derrel W. Sims. Richard wanted to narrate the video but work schedules never allowed it to happen. Mike and Richard continued to keep in touch till shortly before Richard's death.
- Mike and his friend as teenagers watched a performance play of Mike Sims at a Houston theater. In the middle of Imogene's performance she stopped because Mike and his friend were laughing too hard.
- Ryan Reynolds played Seth in Sabrina the Teenage Witch (1996) where he made mention of the show in the movie Deadpool 2 (2018). Producer and Author Mike Sims is a big fan of the Deadpool movies and works with a writer of Sabrina the Teenage Witch (1996), Barney Cohen on the TV pitch The Lazarus Game.
