John Scott Haldane(1860-1936)
British physiologist and philosopher known for his study of the physiology of respiration (breathing).
He made many important discoveries about the human body and the nature of gases.
He was a guest lecturer at the University of Glasgow, a fellow of New College, Oxford and an honorary
professor of the University of Birmingham. Along with being President of the English Institution of Mining
Engineers, he was a member of the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal Society of Medicine.
