Malaga — Dark Star Pictures, the L..A.-based distribution company, has secured North America distribution rights to “On the Go,” which showcases the acting talents of “Elite’s” Omar Ayuso, here playing a Grindr addict with vengeance in his heart.
Celebrating its world premiere at last August’s Locarno Film Festival, “On the Go” was acquired for world sales in the run-up to the Swiss festival by Paris-based MPM Premium.
A road movie through an Andalusia of music, dance, sex and sensuality, “On the Go” has steadily chalked up sales since then, closing France (Outplay), Germany, Switzerland, Austria (Salzgeber), Taiwan (Cineplex) and now the U.S. and Canada (Dark Star Pictures).

Elite Season 7 was released on Netflix on 20th October 2023, and as always fans are seeking the Season 8 of the Series. Here are the details you need to know about the Netflix series.
Ahead of the seventh season’s release on October 2023, Netflix has already decided to renew the series for the 8th season – given that it is one of Netflix’s longest-running series in terms of seasons, the news of renewal certainly comes as a pleasant surprise.
If you have noticed a rather interesting thing about every season is that – every individual season has a fresh mystery to solve and this is possibly one of the best things about the series. It doesn’t drag last season’s mystery into the next unless it involves a notorious murderer on the loose.
Coming back to the 8th season and the cast members who reprise their roles – there are some changes about the cast,...

Two movies which come in on immigration from vastly different angles – Laura Ferrés’ “The Permanent Picture” and Ken Loach’s “The Old Oak” – won big Saturday night at Spain’s Valladolid Festival, walking off with its main competition Golden Spike and the Spanish event’s best actor (Dave Turner) and Audience Award plaudits respectively.
The prize ceremony also saw Charlotte Rampling, star of closing film “Juniper” from Matthew J. Saville, accept an enthusiastically applauded Honorific Spike for her career achievement.
Though decided upon by independent juries, Valladolid’s prizes say much about the new-fit festival after a first-year reboot by new director José Luis Cienfuegos, previously a Gijón and Seville fest head.

The fictional high school of Las Encinas continues to be a playground for murderous mischief as the Spanish teen drama Elite made its return to Netflix on Oct. 20. Now in its seventh season, the series has added new characters to the salacious mix — Brazilian singer Anitta being among them — and brought back a member of the original ensemble cast, Omar Ayuso, who starred as Omar Shanaa from seasons one through five.
“One day by chance, we were on a train, and I asked him if he would be willing to come back,” says screenwriter, director and producer Carlos Montero, who created the series with Darío Madrona. “We gave him a protagonist role and we felt in debt to Omar because he always pulled out all the stops with our show. We love his character very much and we wanted to give him the importance we think he deserved.”

Omar Ayuso, who shares the same name as his character, is a pillar of the teen telenovela Elite. He’s been around since the first season of Netflix’s Spanish hit, captivating viewers via his tender romance with heartthrob Ander, played by Arón Piper, and the jarring disapproval his character faces in his Muslim household.
Elite, created by Carlos Montero and Darío Madrona, premiered its seventh season Oct. 20, with Ayuso reprising his role. The series, which announced an eighth and final season over the summer, marks Netflix Spain’s longest-running fictional series.

Netflix shared the news of the final season of Élite on Twitter, with a short video that turned an 8 on its side to resemble an infinity symbol. Élite is set in a fictional elite high school called Las Encinas. The series focuses on the relationships of its students and the clashes that arise between working-class and wealthy students. In Élite Season 7, Omar (Omar Ayuso) is living a new life at the university and far away from Las Encinas, but he is unable to move on. The guilt he feels for Samuel’s (Itzan Escamilla) death and the suffering from that period are still very much present, leading him to undergo therapy. Here is a wrap-up of all the news you need to know from Tuesday, October 17, 2023.
Netflix has taken an odd approach to promoting Elite Season 7.
We've had random teasers on social media that haven't given much of the plot away,
Now, three days before its premiere date, we have a full-length promo that teases what's on the horizon.
Off the bat, I'm not interested in going back to Las Encinas.
Bringing Omar Ayuso back made me think that a change of scenery was on the menu.
Unfortunately, that isn't the case.
We see that Omar is still trying to piece together his thoughts about Samuel's death at the end of Elite Season 5.
New cast members for Elite Season 7 include Mirela Balic, Gleb Abrosimov, Nadia Al Saidi, Fernando Líndez, Alejandro Albarracín, Iván Mendes, and Maribel Verdú.
They join Elite Season 6 cast members Valentina Zenere, Andre Lamoglia, Carmen Arrufat, Alex Pastrana, Alvaro de Juana,...

The Indonesians have a concept called nongkrong. To nongkrong is to meet and talk, preferably in large groups, and about nothing in particular. I first came across it last summer on a trip to Documenta, a contemporary art fair that’s taken place since 1955 in Kassel, in Germany, but only once every 5 years. The festival’s new curators were ruangrupa from Indonesia, a collective that almost never produces physical works, instead creating spaces for meetings and discussions: a kind of nongkrong as installation. Every room that you walked into at Documenta was full of nongkrong: bits and bobs on the floor, idea bubbles, and word maps on the walls, artist statements that ran a country mile. The festival estimated that the culminated work last year was the product of no less that 1,500 participants. The results were lively and cacophonous. I felt next to nothing.

The streaming service on Wednesday morning picked up Elite Season 8.
What's more, another original character has been locked in to return.
Mina el Hammani, who played Nadia during the hit series' first three seasons, will return.
No details have been revealed about whether Mina will be a series regular or if she will be a recurring player, but still, this casting news is sure to get fans talking.
Elite has prided itself in revamping the cast every couple of seasons to keep things fresh, so it's always interesting when a former star returns.

In the run-up to Locarno, Paris-based MPM Premium has swooped on world sales rights to “On the Go,” a showcase of the acting talents of “Elite’s” Omar Ayuso, Omar in Netflix mega-hit “Elite,” playing in “On the Go” a Grindr addict with vengeance in his heart.
Set to world premiere in Locarno’s Cineasti del Presente, “On the Go” also has a first trailer, shared in exclusivity with Variety.
The trailer captures much of the spirit of the freewheeling road movie through an Andalusia of music, dance, sex and sensuality –though none of the film’s nudity – of a feature, written-directed by Maria Gisèle Royo and Julia de Castro, which revisits from a female perspective an extraordinary Andalusian feature, 1982’s “Corridas de Alegría.”

Netflix’s “Elite” is officially getting an eighth season.
The streamer announced on Wednesday morning that production on Season 8 will commence in August. Episodes for the upcoming season will be directed by Daniel Barone, Ginesta Guindal, Jota Linares and Elena Trapé. New characters will include Ane Rot (“Killer Book Club”) and Nuno Gallego (“Upa Next”). Mina el Hammani will also return to the series to reprise her role of Nadia.
“Elite,” created by Carlos Montero and Jaime Vaca, is Netflix Spain’s longest-running fictional series. Set at Las Encinas, an elite high school, the series follows a group of working class students at the school and their relationships with their wealthier classmates.

Elite has been known to revamp its cast to keep the drama fresh and the mystery exciting.
Netflix confirmed Saturday at Tudum that the Spanish teen drama will return for its seventh season on October 20, 2023.
While plot details are being kept under wraps, we did get our first look at the conflict ahead thanks to a teaser trailer that kicked off with old and new characters falling from the sky.
Is it a hint at the mystery ahead? We don't know, but anything's possible after following the drama with these students over the last six seasons.
Don't ever rule out anything with this show, and perhaps that's why it's remained such a resounding success story over the years.
Any show making it to a seventh season is no easy feat, but a seventh season on Netflix is practically unheard of.

Elite Season 6 looks to be a cut above the previous two seasons.
The series has struggled to keep its focus since many of the original cast members exited at the end of Elite Season 3.
However, the official trailer teases the aftermath of Sam's death, new beginnings, and Isadora's vengeance.
It looks like plenty of drama is on the menu, which could be what the show needs to steer it in the right direction.
“After Samuel’s death, Las Encinas faces a new school year trying to have a facelift by covering up disasters of the past,” reads the official synopsis.
“However, the conflict in its classrooms is systemic: racism, sexism, domestic abuse or Lgtbi-phobia are just a few of the difficult issues that will run through the hallways of the prestigious institution this season."

Ahead of the premiere of Elite Season 6, the official social media accounts for the Netflix hit confirmed Tuesday that the show has been renewed for a seventh season.
Netflix shows rarely make it past their first few seasons, so Elite will be joining the likes of Orange is the New Black as one of the longest-running shows on the service.
Netflix has not confirmed the renewal, but given that the social media channel for the show has confirmed the cast of Elite Season 7, it's about as official as we'll get.
The most shocking part of the announcement is the news that Omar Ayuso, who played Omar Shanaa for the first five seasons, is returning.
No details have been revealed about what brings him back into the fold, but it's possible we might get some answers on Elite Season 6 (premiering November 18).
Additionally, it sounds like we're getting another major revamp for Elite Season 7.

Elite Season 6 gets underway later this year on Netflix.
The streaming service revealed a new batch of episodes will arrive on Friday, November 18.

"If those who run the system do not actively take action to address these issues, it will have to be the students themselves who do so.”
While the cast exits haven't been seamless in the slightest, Elite Season 6 is poised to be completely different.
Samuel (played by Itzan Escamilla) was seemingly killed off at the conclusion of the previous season, but there were some rumors that he survived.

Netflix is doubling down on Elite, which is set to become one of the streamer's longest-running series.
On Thursday, the service ordered Elite Season 6, well ahead of the still unscheduled Elite Season 5 premiere.
What's more, we're getting three holiday-themed episodes of the Spanish teen drama with new episodes of Elite: Short Stories set to air in December.
The specials are as follows:
- Phillipe, Caye, & Felipe (December 15)
- Samuel & Omar (December 20)
- Patrick (December 23)
The renewal was a no-brainer. Elite has solidified itself as one of the streamer's most popular dramas.
Also helping matters is that the cast rotates in and out, meaning that unlike many other shows, the budget will not be soaring with every season.

Netflix has set June 18 for the worldwide release of Season 4 of its popular Spanish YA drama series Elite.

Netflix Spain’s popular YA series “Elite” season four will premiere on June 18 worldwide. Among the service’s most popular programs in any language, “Elite” stands among the few series, international or American, to surpass the three-season mark at the platform.

The trials and tribulations of the students at Las Encinas will continue to be charted at Netflix.
The streamer on Thursday officially ordered a fifth season of the Spanish-language drama Elite, well in advance of its Season 4 premiere.
Netflix made the announcement on Twitter, but Deadline revealed that the fifth season will also bring another two new cast members into the fold in Argentinian actress Valentina Zenere (Cable Girls) and Brazilian actor André Lamoglia (Juacas), but no character details were revealed.
Elite typically likes to keep viewers in suspense when new additions are announced due to the nature of the series.
Each season follows a new mystery in a similar vein to Big Little Lies, with the characters being quizzed by the police about the events.
Elite was renewed for Season 4 in May last year, but production was scuppered due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with the series finishing filming much later than originally planned.

The renewal comes before Season 4 has even premiered on Netflix. Elite, which was created and written by Carlos Montero and Darío Madrona, is one of the streamer’s best performing Spanish originals, with Netflix noting in 2019 that it had been seen by more than 20 million households.
Described as “effervescent, uninhibited and sensual,” the soapy teen series follows the intrigue at Las Encinas, an exclusive boarding school in Spain. It is made by Zeta Audiovisual, which has offices in Barcelona, Madrid, and Seville.
Itzan Escamilla, Miguel Bernardeau, Arón Piper, Omar Ayuso, Claudia Salas and Georgina Amorós will appear in Season 4, while new cast includes Andrés Velencoso, Manu Rios, Carla Díaz, Martina Cariddi, Pol Granch, and Diego Martín.

Netflix's Elite has been renewed for season four, so more drama awaits! On May 22, costars Itzan Escamilla, Claudia Salas, Georgina Amorós, Miguel Bernardeau, Arón Piper, and Omar Ayuso confirmed the news in a video, saying that they've already received the script. "You better be prepared, because it's intense," Piper says. Amorós also teased a powerful season, saying, "I wish I could see your faces when you watch it because you're going to flip out. There are many new things going on you could never think of."
The announcement came only two months after the third installment dropped on the streaming platform and totally shook things up. At the end of chapter three, we see how each of the main characters go their separate ways, except for Guzman (Bernardeau), Samuel (Bernardeau), Omar (Ayuso), Ander (Piper), and Rebeca (Salas) who return to Las Encinas to repeat senior year. But with the...

Spanish drama Elite has been renewed for season 4 at Netflix but with some cast changes at the boarding school series.
The show, which was created and written by Carlos Montero and Darío Madrona, is one of the streamer’s best performing Spanish originals with Netflix noting last year that it had been seen by more than 20M households.
The cast announced the renewal news on social media with a video message (below).
The teen series follows the intrigue at Las Encinas, an exclusive boarding school in Spain. In the third season a number of the protagonists faced their last months at the institute, a stage in which they will have to make decisions that can change their future forever. The season featured love, sex, and friendship as well as jealousy, secrets and the desire for revenge, which threatened to destroy lives that were really just about to begin.

“Elite” will be coming back for another season of drama in a fancy Spanish high school.
Netflix has picked up the series for season 4 around two months after season 3 launched on the streamer. The cast, including Miguel Bernardeau and Claudia Salas, announced the pickup via a video from their homes in quarantine. Precisely when season 4 will be available is yet to be announced, especially given the current uncertainty of the coronavirus production shutdown.
“I wanted to tell you that we have got the scripts of season 4 and they look so good,” says Bernardeau in the video.
“You better be prepared, because it’s intense,” adds fellow cast member Aron Piper.
