Maclovia Martel, born in New York City, is an LA based, documentarian, song and screen writer. Receiving her BFA, she trained at Otis College of Art and Design and became a Fine Arts Major. Using all she encompassed through short films in school, Music and her Fine art background she began making documentaries and writing. A Girl From Mexico (Documentary film), about her mother, Carmen Gutierrez, the first Mexican on Broadway, played at the Prestigious Lincoln Center and nominated the best dance documentary 2013. Grow (documentary 2018), the story of a community garden and how they support and care for the people in the community. The Digital Nomad and the Scientist, A film about the first steps into living and working in space. Revolution-EDU, Documentary short, honoring the life and contributions of Sir Ken Robinson, one of the world's purest voices calling for an educational revolution. Most recently she directed and edited Tracks: Stumbling Stones Amsterdam, a film about remembering the Holocaust victims we lost in WWII Amsterdam with the laying of Brass stones (Stolpersteine) outside the family home with their names, from artist, Alexander Stukenberg. This film won Best Cinematography at Toronto Documentary and Short Film Fest, Best Documentary short Brussels World Film Festival. My Garden, a screenplay about a woman seeking connection and comfort in a person we would have never have expected to bring her out of depression, and show her what life is really about.
