Yeah1 Group, the Vietnamese media giant that owns a handful of multi-channel networks, is selling ScaleLab -- a prominent U.S. network that reps Jake Paul, Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson, and Erika Costell -- back to its original owners two months after acquiring the firm for up to $20 million.
The sale arrives after YouTube terminated its relationship with Yeah1 and all of its McN subsidiaries -- including an eponymous network, ScaleLab, Thai network SPRINGme, and French kids’ content publisher Something Big -- last week. YouTube cut ties with Yeah1 due to violating behavior on the part of SPRINGme, though the video giant declined to comment on the nature of these offenses. The fact that YouTube had terminated Yeah1's network status would mean that the third largest McN on earth, according to Bloomberg, would no longer be able to monetize its vast network of 3,000 YouTube channels with 6.9 billion monthly views.

YouTube has terminated its relationship with Yeah1 -- a publicly-traded Vietnamese media giant that owns a handful of multi-channel networks, including ScaleLab. Notably, the ScaleLab McN -- which provides channel optimization, monetization, and copyright protection to 1,750 channels -- is home to a slew of massively popular American creators like Jake Paul, Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson, and Erika Costell.
Reports surfaced today that YouTube pulled the plug on its relationship with Yeah1 after another one of its subsidiary MCNs, Thailand-based SPRINGme, had violated YouTube policies. In addition to ScaleLab and SPRINGme, Yeah1 operates an eponymous network with upwards of 1,100 channels, it says, who count a collective 150 million subscribers in 150 countries. It also owns France-based kids content publisher Something Big.
“We have decided to exercise our contractual rights and end our relationship with certain MCNs and their subsidiary companies,” YouTube confirmed to Tubefilter in a statement. “We found that these companies had committed...

In his latest video, controversial YouTuber Jake Paul announced he’s discontinuing his behind-the-scenes docuseries series Jake Paul Uncut, but says he wants to find a way to be “more real” with his fanbase going forward.
“This YouTube space and this YouTube world we live in is so crazy. It’s so fast-paced, and it can suck you dry as a person before you even realize it,” he says, speaking one-on-one to the camera.
It’s a rare, quiet format for the contentious YouTuber, who’s primarily known for his havoc-wreaking stunts and for spending a lot of his videos shouting at his 18 million subscribers to “buy dat merch.”.
“What I’ve realized is that I need to connect more with you guys and be more open,” he adds. He explains that when Jake Paul Uncut kicked off in November with an episode about his breakup with fellow YouTuber Erika Costell,...

Shane Paul’s docu-voyage into The Mind Of Jake Paul was such a massively-viewed event and reputation booster for the polarizing star that it appears as though Paul is carrying the content torch onward.
This Sunday, Paul will drop his own docuseries called Uncut -- a weekly, long-form series that he says marks “a raw look into my day-to-day life...nothing hidden, truths told, unscripted content you’ve never seen before.” A trailer for the series (below) appears to show Paul’s reaction to his breakup with girlfriend Erika Costell reports murmurs of infidelity. “I’m not breaking up with her because I want to,” he says, “I’m breaking up with her because it’s what we both need.” Episodes will be roughly 30 minutes long, and Paul says that Uncut will also target an older audience than previous videos.

Nerd City is not here for Jake Paul. The YouTube channel, which often posts investigative videos peeling back the layers of YouTube, its stars, and its community, recently posted ‘Parents’ Worst Nightmare: Jake Paul,’ in which over the course of 43 minutes it alleges Paul markets to children so aggressively it could be illegal.
Where Paul trips up, Nerd City says, is in crossing laws that protect children from predatory advertising. Foremost is the Children’s Television Act (Cta). The law was passed by the United States Congress in 1990 as a response to the overtly aggressive advertising targeting impressionable kids in the mid-to-late 1980s. Now the Cta bans those types of ads (aka host selling) and limits the amount of advertising overall that can be stuffed into children’s programming. Current limits are 10.5 minutes of advertising for every hour of programming on weekends, and 12 minutes of advertising per hour on weekdays.
