The stakes are high this week on “So You Think You Can Dance” as three contemporary contestants — Gino Cosculluela, Sophie Pittman and Mariah Russell — plus b-boy Bailey Munoz compete for viewer votes to become America’s favorite dancer.
Right now, Gold Derby-ites are picking Bailey aka Bailrok as the one to beat. Like last season’s champ Hannahlei Cabanilla, the Las Vegas native is Filipino-American. Even though he is just 19 (and admitted on air that he doesn’t have a driver’s license), the 5-foot-tall whirling dervish has already had plenty of experience of basking in the spotlight.
The dancing bug initially bit when Bailey was in the first grade. At age 9 in 2010, Bailey got a spot on the semi-finals of “America’s Got Talent” as part of a duo called Future Funk.

Yes, those fleet-footed sisters — Lindsay and Jensen Arnold — did both compete as Latin ballroom specialists on “So You Think You Can Dance, but not on the same season. Lindsay made it to Season 9’s Top 8 in 2012 and would go to compete on “Dancing With the Stars” twice, winning the Mirror Ball Trophy in 2017.
As for Jensen, she was the runner-up on last year’s Season 15 of “Sytycd,” just missing out on earning the title of America’s favorite dancer that went to contemporary contestant Hannahlei Cabanilla.
But according to Fox, which airs the show, the title of the first siblings to compete on the Same season of the show goes to Stephanie and Ezra Sosa, who hail from Utah just like the Arnolds. The children of immigrants from Mexico and Venezuela went on to the Top 10 of Season 16 this week. Stephanie, 19, tried out last year but was cut before the finals.

“Dancing with the Stars” pro Lindsay Arnold is the only adult mentor left on “DWTS: Juniors” who has won a Mirror Ball Trophy. The team she’s mentoring includes her little sister Rylee Arnold, who could be on her way to winning a Mirror Ball way faster than Lindsay did. Clearly winning runs in the family.
It has been a good couple of years for the Arnold clan. Lindsay’s dance breakthrough came at age 18 when she appeared in season nine of “So You Think You Can Dance,” where she reached the Top 8. Then she joined “DWTS” as a pro, and after six seasons there she finally won the Mirror Ball Trophy in season 25 with Jordan Fisher in the fall of 2017. As it so happens, Fisher is now the co-host of “DWTS: Juniors.”

Jensen Arnold fell just short on “So You Think You Can Dance,” finishing in second place behind winner Hannahlei Cabanilla in what host Cat Deeley said was the closest final vote in the show’s history. So maybe Mandy Moore will let Arnold keep her Emmy instead.
The “Sytycd” season 15 finale took place the day after the Creative Arts Emmys, where Moore won Best Choreography for the second year in a row, though this was the first time she won for this series. Last year she prevailed for routines she created for “Dancing with the Stars.” To celebrate her win during Monday night’s finale, she even loaned her new trophy to the show, and it popped up in the kitchen.

So you think you can guess who won the fifteenth season of “So You Think You Can Dance?” No need. The season came to a close on Monday when Hannahlei Cabanilla was announced the winner.
Meanwhile, second place went to Jensen Arnold, third place to Genessy Castillo and Slavik Pustovoytov came in fourth.
The show celebrated the Cabanilla’s victory on Twitter, but cannily did not actually spoil who it was.

It all came down to this. On Monday night, September 10, after America voted on the last two weeks of performances, the season 15 winner of “So You Think You Can Dance” was revealed. So who was America’s favorite dancer: Jensen Arnold, Hannahlei Cabanilla, Genessy Castillo or Slavik Pustovoytov? Find out below in our live updating blog with all the minute-by-minute developments during the finale.
Jensen was a standout all season, and she already had name-recognition coming into the competition. Not only did she try out for the show last summer in season 14 (she was eliminated at the Academy), she’s also the little sister of “Sytycd” and “Dancing with the Stars” alum Lindsay Arnold. That kind of association could have hurt her as much as helped her — how would she compare to her sibling? — but she has actually advanced farther than Lindsay, who was eliminated in the Top 8 round in season nine.

Season 15 of “So You Think You Can Dance” has been especially close, but a winner will be crowned on Monday night. Viewers voted for America’s favorite dancer, and it’s between four finalists: Jensen Arnold, Hannahlei Cabanilla, Genessy Castillo and Slavik Pustovoytov. The last competitive live show on “So You Think You Can Dance” isn’t the time you’d necessarily want to trot out a brand new dance style, but that’s what happened to Hannahlei Cabanilla when she was given a hip-hop routine on Top 4 night. Not only was it her first hip-hop routine of the live shows, she was paired with season 10 winner Fik-Shun, so there was even more pressure for her to keep up. How do you think she did? Watch her routine above and decide for yourself.
Judge Twitch thought Cabanilla gave an “incredible” performance, especially for her first live hip-hop routine. “I’m having trouble finding words because I got so hyped for what was going on.” Nigel Lythgoe repeated a familiar refrain: “I don’t think there is anything you can’t do, Hannahlei. And not only can you do it, you can do it brilliantly.

Freestyle hip-hop dancer Slavik Pustovoytov and contemporary specialist Genessy Castillo have been partners on “So You Think You Can Dance” since the very beginning of the live shows, and they’re the only couple who made it through to the Top 4 intact. But Pustovoytov hit a couple of big speed bumps in Top 6 week when he got his worst critiques from the judges yet. Did Castillo help him get his mojo back? They reunited for a hip-hop duet choreographed by Luther Brown. Watch it above.
Brown also choreographed the hip-hop routine that was Castillo and Pustovoytov’s breakthrough during the first live show when the judges might still have been having doubts about putting them through to the top 10. So this was a full-circle moment for the dance duo who the judges have been shipping all season in the hopes that they might become a real-life couple. “It’s really...

“So You Think You Can Dance” is down to its final four contestants: Jensen Arnold, Hannahlei Cabanilla, Genessy Castillo and Slavik Pustovoytov. They performed on Monday night, September 3, for America’s votes, but who stood out, who stepped up, and who deserves to win season 15? Find out below in our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments as they happen.
These final four are somewhat controversial after the results for the Top 6. Jay Jay Dixonbey and Darius Hickman were both eliminated from the competition last week after receiving more rave reviews from the judges, who hardly had an unkind word for either dancer throughout the season. That left Slavik as the last remaining male dancer in the competition even though he delivered multiple routines that disappointed the judging panel.
Given Slavik’s poor reviews, it seemed odd that he would be the last man standing, but of course those results...

Genessy Castillo has struggled with her confidence periodically on “So You Think You Can Dance.” During Academy Week she admitted to self-doubt because she didn’t have the otherworldly flexibility of some of her rival contestants. And in last week’s show she landed in the bottom four when the results of America’s vote were announced. But this past Monday night, when the Top 6 contestants performed for the 4 spots in the finale, the show gave her a big vote of confidence by pairing her with reigning “Sytycd” champion Lex Ishimoto.
All six contestants got to perform with an all-star, and every all-star featured in this week’s show had made the top four in their respective seasons. But even by those high standards Castillo got the cream of the crop for her dance choreographed by Mandy Korpinen and Elizabeth Petrin. Castillo and Ishimoto performed with their faces covered by masks,...

“So You Think You Can Dance” welcomed back a half dozen all-stars on Monday night when the Top 6 performed for a spot in the final four. Those all-stars had all made the final four in their respective seasons as well, giving this year’s contestants a lot to live up to. But current season 15 front-runner Jensen Arnold had no trouble keeping up with season 14 finalist Kiki Nyemchek, who last year earned the nickname Daddy Kiki for his sexy Latin dance style. Watch their duet above.
Arnold and Nyemchek are both Latin dance specialists, so they were given a cha cha to perform by yet another “Sytycd” all-star (and reigning “Dancing with the Stars” champion), Jenna Johnson. It was a milestone for Johnson as well as it was the first routine she ever choreographed for a “Sytycd” live show. And her dancers didn’t let her down.

Hannahlei Cabanilla has been a favorite of the judges on “So You Think You Can Dance” throughout the season 15 live shows. But she hasn’t yet risen to the top of our predictions for who will win at the end of the season. Going into Monday night’s show when the Top 6 performed she ranked third in our racetrack odds. That could change after another pair of standout performances, including a contemporary routine where she more than held her own with “Sytycd” all-star Marko Germar. Watch it above.
Germar wasn’t the only all-star involved in the routine. It was also the choreographic debut of fan-favorite Robert Roldan. Set to the song “Welcome Home” by Joy Williams, it was full of loss and longing, and though it was full of difficult lifts and transitions, the dancing duo made them look virtually effortless. During rehearsals Germar expressed gratitude that he was...

Slavik Pustovoytov entered the “So You Think You Can Dance” live shows as an underdog. He was the only hip-hop dancer who made the Top 10, and his freestyle background meant that learning choreography in any style was a brand new experience for him. So the judges have been pleasantly surprised by how well he has adapted to a variety of styles he was unfamiliar with before now. But on the night when the Top 6 performed for just four spots in the finale, the pressure seemed to get to him, and he got some of his harshest critiques of the season.
His first duet was a hip-hop routine with “Sytycd” all-star Jaja Vankova that was choreographed by another all-star, Comfort Fedoke. You might think that a hip-hop routine would be as close to his comfort zone as he could get, but the judges weren’t impressed. Twitch thought it lacked the...

There was no room for error in the Monday night, August 27 episode of “So You Think You Can Dance” when the Top 6 performed. The contestants have been so evenly matched and so consistent during the live shows that they’re all judges’ darlings at this point. So every performance counts more than ever in order to appeal to viewers voting at home. Who survived this latest round? Find out below in our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments as they happen.

The live shows have been unforgiving in season 15 of “So You Think You Can Dance” so far. The top 10 have been so evenly matched that all it takes is one imperfect routine to get you sent packing. Chelsea Hough and Evan DeBenedetto were eliminated after an ill-fated tap dance. And all it took to knock out Cole Mills was one unconvincing stepping number. The top six competitors dancing tonight have hardly gotten any criticism from the judges so far during the live shows, but someone still has to go home. Our users think Darius Hickman and Genessy Castillo are the two most likely to exit.
Hickman and Castillo are both contemporary dancers, but they have proven their mettle in a wide range of styles including Bollywood, hip-hop and Broadway. However, they landed in the bottom four based on America’s votes last week. The judges chose to save them from...

Season 15 of “So You Think You Can Dance” has been up in the air since the very beginning of the live shows. Evan DeBenedetto was an early favorite, but he was one of the first dancers eliminated. Cole Mills led the early predictions of our users, but he only made it to the Top 8. Now with six dancers left in the competition our users are as divided as ever trying to forecast the winner. So who are the favorites now? We’re betting on Jensen Arnold and Slavik Pustovoytov, but for how long?
As of this writing Arnold has a narrow lead with 3/1 odds based on our users’ collective predictions. But Pustovoytov is close behind with 4/1 odds. From the first three weeks of live shows both have been consistently praised by the judges: Arnold for adapting to a wide variety of styles and tones outside of her Latin ballroom comfort zone,...

Cole Mills tried to make a comeback on “So You Think You Can Dance” during the third week of live shows. The judges loved both of his duets with his partner Hannahlei Cabanilla, including a cha cha choreographed by “Dancing with the Stars” pros Emma Slater and Sasha Farber that was the “sexiest” that judge Vanessa Hudgens had ever seen (watch it above). And a shirtless Mills made judge Twitch feel the need to go back to the gym.
But despite the rave reviews from all four judges, Mills wasn’t able to bridge the gap with the viewing audience. Though Cabanilla was safe, Mills landed in the bottom four based on America’s votes. Darius Hickman was also in the bottom four, but Hickman has been so consistently good that the judges couldn’t bear to see him go, so they gave Mills his walking papers along with Magda Fialek.

Last week’s double elimination on “So You Think You Can Dance” seemed to be a relatively easy choice for the judges. Magda Fialek and Chelsea Hough were the bottom two women when viewer votes were counted up, and Cole Mills and Evan DeBenedetto were the bottom two men. The judges had been disappointed by Hough and DeBenedetto for what they felt was a lack of chemistry and for Hough’s lack of tap skills, so the judges decided to send them home and save Fialek and Mills. But will they be spared again tonight?
Our users who have made their predictions thus far are betting on Fialek to be sent home with leading odds of 8/11, which translates to a 57.25% chance of going home. The judges have had nothing but praise for her during the live shows thus far, but the same is true for the other three remaining women,...

Cole Mills was on top of the world on “So You Think You Can Dance,” but in week two of the live shows he fell near the bottom of the heap, at least with his first dance with partner Hannahlei Cabanilla, a stepping routine choreographed by Joe Brown. He was Gold Derby’s favorite to win the season going into this week’s show, but not only did he face sharp criticisms from the judges (while Cabanilla got nothing but rave reviews), he also landed in the bottom four when the results were announced at the end of the night.
Mills rebounded when he and Cabanilla performed a disco routine later in the evening, and the judges saved him from elimination at the end of the night, but might his stepping performance force him to step off stage for good when next week’s results are announced? Watch Mills and Cabanilla’s performance above,...

“So You Think You Can Dance” season 15 held its second live show on Monday night, August 13. Once again the top 10 contestants performed for the judges and for America’s votes, but only 8 came out. “So You Think You Can Dance” season 15 started its live shows on Monday night, August 6, and since then fans have been predicting who will win this season. The race so far looks like it’s wide open, with our users split 8 ways between the 10 contestants, but the early front-runner is Cole Mills.
As of this writing Mills gets leading odds of 8/5, which translates to a 38.74% chance of prevailing at the end of the season. That’s just slightly better than a one-in-three chance, so he shouldn’t count his chickens before they’ve danced. But he has already impressed the judges with his versatility. The August 13 episode will be the first live eliminations, so we’ll find out them if the audience is just as impressed.

It took a while to get here, but the top 10 dancers finally performed live for America’s vote on Monday night, August 6. They were paired off, and each of the five couples had to dance two routines, so everyone got to perform one dance in their signature style and one in their partners’. For ballroom dancer Cole Mills, that meant performing a contemporary routine with his partner Hannahlei Cabanilla. But you’d never guess that wasn’t his natural style.
Judge Nigel Lythgoe pointed out how rare it is for a ballroom dancer on “Sytycd” to excel in the contemporary style. He even compared Mills to another dancer on a rival dance show, likening the young contestant to Emmy-winning “Dancing with the Stars” and “World of Dance” star Derek Hough.
That’s pretty high praise. Do you agree? Watch Mills’s performance with Cabanilla above, and read what the judges thought of their performance below.

“So You Think You Can Dance” season 15 starts its live shows tonight, August 6, with its top 10 contestants performing for America’s vote. But America has already voted for their favorites in our informal polls, and based on those results it looks like Jensen Arnold and Evan DeBenedetto are the ones to beat. Scroll down for our complete poll results at the bottom of this post.
Latin ballroom specialist Arnold wowed the judges when she took on an unfamiliar jazz routine in the last round of judges’ cuts when the top 10 women were whittled down to 5. And she comes from a formidable family of dance. Her big sister Lindsay Arnold competed in season nine of “Sytycd” and became a Mirror Ball Trophy winner on “Dancing with the Stars.” And their little sister Rylee Arnold will be a pro dancer on “Dancing with the Stars: Juniors.”

On July 30 “So You Think You Can Dance” decided the rest of the top 10 contestants who will move forward to the live shows. And they must be relieved after an arduous process of training, tryouts and cuts while at the Academy. So who moved forward, and whose dreams were “shattered,” as was teased in the preview for this week’s show? Find out below in our live blog with all the night’s developments as they happen.
After the initial auditions more than 70 hopefuls were brought to the Academy. After a series of solos and group dances those competitors were gradually winnowed down to top 20, who thought they had earned their ticket to the live shows — but not yet! The judges surprised them with one more round of cuts after which only 10 dancers will get to perform live for America’s votes.

“It breaks my heart that we are not going to be putting you into our top five,” says judge Nigel Lythgoe to one unlucky dancer in a preview for tonight’s episode of “So You Think You Can Dance.” But who is he talking to? We won’t find out until tonight’s show, but the clip doesn’t mince words, explaining that “Dreams will shatter.” Watch it above.
In the July 16 episode during “Academy Week” the contestants thought they were in the clear. After the judges winnowed down more than 70 dancers to the top 20 — 10 men and 10 women — they thought they were on their way to the live shows to battle for America’s votes. But the judges had another trick up their sleeve: one more round of cuts, which would reduce the competition to just 10 dancers — 5 men and 5 women. “Contemporary dancer murdered hip-hop just now,” said a triumphant Genessy Castillo on “So You Think You Can Dance” when the top 10 women performed for a spot in the upcoming live shows. This final round of cuts at the Academy challenged the top 10 women to perform with an all-star partner in a style that is not their specialty. It was all about getting out of their comfort zone, and the five women who succeeded are moving on to compete for America’s votes. Watch Castillo’s performance above.
Castillo performed her hip-hop routine with all-star partner Fik-Shun, who was the male winner of season 10 in 2013 in addition to competing in the first season of “World of Dance” in 2017. So it was much to her credit that she was able to keep up with him. She impressed the judges so much with her hip-hop moves that even though she had previously flown...

“So You Think You Can Dance” saved the best for last when the top 10 women performed on July 23 for 5 coveted spots in the live shows. Jensen Arnold performed a routine that was out of her comfort zone, but the judges thought she was the class of the field. Watch her performance above, and vote in our poll below to let us know what you thought of her.
This final round of cuts at the Academy before the live shows challenged the contestants to dance a routine in a style that wasn’t their specialty. Arnold is a ballroom dancer, so she was challenged with a jazz routine alongside her all-star partner Brandon Bryant (the runner-up in season five), but the judges were so effusive about her “sensational” performance that there was no doubt she would advance to the next round. Read some of the judges’ comments below.

During Monday’s Top 10 Women episode of “So You Think You Can Dance” Season 15, judge Vanessa Hudgens wept tears of joy while watching Magdalena “Magda” Fialek dance to an acoustic version of “What About Us.” After Magda’s performance a teary-eyed Hudgens admitted, “I’m literally crying. You got me.” Watch Magda’s emotional “Sytycd” performance above and then read the judges’ comments below.
Hudgens continued, “That moment where you were just wrapped around him and your leg was around him and you lifted up his leg and you guys were moving through space as one? It was gorgeous.” The actress and singer then threw her hands up in the air and shouted, “I’m dead! I need makeup!”

“So You Think You Can Dance” announced its top 20 dancers at the end of “Academy Week” last week, and the 10 men and 10 women who made the cut were overjoyed to be on their way to the live shows … except they weren’t going to the live shows yet. The judges blindsided them by announcing yet another round of cuts that would reduce the top 20 down to the top 10. So the remaining women performed one last time in episode seven on July 23 for a spot in the live shows. So which five advanced, and which five were Thanos-snapped out of existence?
The 10 women who made it this far were Genessy Castillo, Magda Fialek, Jensen Arnold, Stephanie Sosa, Dayna Madison, Sydney Moss, Brianna Penrose, Chelsea Hough, Emily Carr and Hannahlei Cabanilla. For their final challenge to qualify for the live shows, each of them were paired with a “Sytycd” all-star for a...

The “So You Think You Can Dance” judges applauded the group number performed by the competitors during part two of “Academy Week” on July 16. There were still more than 30 contestants left by the time Emmy winning choreographer Mandy Moore got her hands on them, and she whipped them into a shape so they could deliver their fourth group routine of the week. How do you think they withstood the pressure? Watch them above and decide for yourself.
Moore didn’t have much time with the 30 competitors, but she’s used to choreographing for large groups: she won an Emmy just last year for a pair of group routines for the professional dancers on “Dancing with the Stars.” She put them through their paces with a jazz number, but she also incorporated their unique individual dance styles — tap, ballroom, hip-hop, contemporary — before a grand finale with the entire team on stage together.

After six weeks of tryouts on “So You Think You Can Dance,” it was the moment of truth on Monday night, July 16. We learned which 10 women and 10 men officially advanced to the Top 20. So who made the cut, and who got cut? Find out below by following along with our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments.
Seventy performers who impressed the judges during the auditions were brought back for July 9’s “Academy Week 1,” and put through their paces. Last week they learned hip-hop choreography from Tabitha and Napoleon D’umo (aka Nappytabs). And then they tackled ballroom with a cha-cha taught to them by Jean-Marc Genereux. At the end 29 dancers were eliminated, narrowing down those 70 hopefuls to 41. It was an especially rough road for some, like Zoe Zimmerman, who wasn’t sent home by the judges, but rather had to withdraw after injuring her ankle.
