The 2019 Golden Globes took a small hit in the ratings compared to last year.
The telecast also drew a 12.7 rating in metered market households, down just under five percent from the 13.3 the 2018 telecast drew.
In the preliminary numbers, the awards telecast is currently at a 4.5 rating in adults 18-49 and 15.7 million viewers. The 2018 telecast initially drew a 4.2 rating, meaning this year’s is up approximately 7% in the early going. Last year’s show eventually rose to a 5.0 and 19 million viewers.
As the Golden Globes ran past 11 p.m. Et, these numbers are not currently time-zone adjusted and the final numbers should be available later today.
The household rating decline came in spite of the fact that the nail-biter NFL matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Chicago Bears led into awards telecast on NBC. The game averaged a 22.9 household rating, peaking at a 27.6 in the fifteen minutes immediately preceding the Golden Globes.
