There are very few directors that can claim that they revolutionized a genre. But one could argue that John McTiernan is one of those people. In a matter of a decade, the filmmaker helmed “Predator,” “Die Hard,” “Last Action Hero” (underrated), and “Die Hard with a Vengeance” (the only decent sequel). Not to mention sandwiched in between those was “The Hunt for Red October.”
All things considered, McTiernan had a run in the ‘80s and ‘90s that set the stage for the action genre moving forward.
