The Sundance Institute revealed the last batch of programming for the 2020 Sundance Film Festival — minus a few last-minute additions to its feature lineup, still to come — by announcing its New Frontier section, which consists of virtual reality, new media, and otherwise outside-the-box projects.
Like the innovative work it encompasses, Sundance’s New Frontier program has been evolving in recent years, as the festival aims to bring greater attention to the fields of Vr, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, and mixed reality. During the 11-day event — which takes place from Jan. 23 through Feb. 2, 2020 in Park City, Utah — this work will have a dedicated home at two venues, the New Frontier at The Ray and New Frontier Central.
