Lionsgate has tapped Benny Safdie to star in Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret, an adaptation of Judy Blume’s classic novel of the same name.
Safdie, who recently boarded the series Obi-Wan Kenobi, will play Margaret’s father, Herb. The film now in production is written and directed by Kelly Fremon Craig, who is reteaming with James L. Brooks and his Gracie Films banner for the project. They collaborated on the film The Edge of Seventeen.
