CBS has found its new head of comedy development in Jon Koa. The former Condé Nast and ABC executive was named executive vice president of comedy development on Wednesday.
Koa will be responsible for overseeing all of CBS’ primetime comedy programming.
He takes over for Julie Pernwerth, who announced her departure back in June. Koa will report to CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl and Thom Sherman, senior executive vice president of programming.
“Jon is a tremendously experienced television executive with an obvious passion for the development process,” Kahl said. “His reputation among his peers and the creative community is impeccable and he will be an extraordinary addition to the CBS team.”
Added Sherman, “It was imperative we find just the right individual to lead our comedy team. Jon has tremendous creative chops and a keen eye for spotting writing that resonates. I look forward to working closely with him.”
