We are sad to hear that the acclaimed French-English actor
Michael Lonsdale died on September 21, 2020 at the age of 89 in Paris. Condolences to his bereaved. Before he began acting, he studied painting. The perfectly bilingual actor was frequently casted for films of
Luis Buñuel. He had a wide range of roles from the James Bond villain Hugo Drax in
Moonraker (1979) to the abbot in
The Name of the Rose (1986) and also lent his voice to audio books and radio recordings. Lonsdale mostly played calm, wise and well-mannered, strong male characters, thereby appearing interesting on screen.
Which do you think was his most interesting performance?
Let's talk about it here.
