Barbara Schultz was born as Barbara Ann Schultz on February 4, 1927 in Manhattan, NY to Joseph and Isabelle Schultz, a lawyer and a homemaker. Grown up in New Jersey, she later graduated with a major in English at Barnard College, NY. There, she tried out acting and took part in several productions. In 1952 she got a bit part in Eugene O'Neill's Broadway production "Desire Under the Elms". Barbara Schultz then became a story editor for Armstrong Circle Theatre (1950), The Defenders (1961) and The Trials of O'Brien (1965). When she went into producing, she produced CBS Playhouse (1967) among other things, before becoming director of program development for CBS.
