Greg Walloch is an internationally renowned comedian, writer and storyteller whose live solo shows have toured in Moscow, Toronto, Vancouver, London, Ireland, Germany, Australia, Poland, Scotland, Tel Aviv and in various festivals across the United States. As an openly gay artist with a disability, he uses humor to expose cultural and social fault lines. Walloch is best known for his comedic autobiographical stories, which deal with events from his own life, in a style characterized by sharp wit, poignancy and sexuality.
Walloch hosts the popular monthly live meta-food storytelling show, Eat Your Words which can currently be seen every first Thursday of the month at The Standard, Hollywood. Eat Your Words is featured in notable media publications such as Time Out LA, Los Angeles Magazine and LA Weekly among others.
Most recently, Walloch was selected by the Sundance Institute to participate in the upcoming 2014 New Frontier Story Lab alongside comedian Hasan Minhaj of The Daily Show. Directing Minhaj's live solo show Sakoon, which utilizes an innovative mix of storytelling, theater, stand-up and multimedia visual platforms, the creative duo aim to reinvent the traditional one hour comedy special. Robert Redford serves as president and founder of the Sundance Institute, which oversees this acclaimed annual venture with a mission to support risk-taking artists for encouragement of innovation in the independent space.
Additionally, Walloch is a regular guest on The Moth, the acclaimed not-for-profit organization dedicated to the art and craft of storytelling; he is currently featured in their Peabody Award-winning-series, The Moth Radio Hour on National Public Radio.
Walloch was also featured in USA Network's Characters Unite national live storytelling tour in sold out engagements from Seattle Center's Marion Oliver McCaw Hall to the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, as well as the Newseum in Washington, DC and the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, CA. The national tour featured prominent talents such as Christopher Gorham, Forest Whitaker, Meghan McCain, Pam Grier, Nathan Lane, Octavia Spencer, Matt Bomer, John Legend and Willie Garson, among others. Walloch also appeared in the network's Characters Unite, "I Won't Stand For...," PSA television campaign to fight hate and discrimination. Walloch continues to support USA Network's Characters Unite initiative.
With guest appearances on everything from The Howard Stern Show to Kurt Andersen's Studio 360 on Public Radio International, the comedian has a broad appeal. He has performed to a capacity crowd at Lincoln Center's David Rubenstein Atrium in the variety show Sxip's Hour of Charm, has opened for '60's icon Janis Ian at the World Institute on Disability Gala in the Bay Area, and performed in The Moth: West Village Stories with Amy Sedaris and Andy Borowitz in New York City. The concert film, F**k The Disabled, based on Walloch's live show, starred Greg with a cast that included Stephen Baldwin, Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara.
Walloch is passionate about storytelling bringing together community. He strongly believes that sharing our personal narrative has the power to change not only our own lives, but the lives of those around us. He regularly teaches concepts from his master class The Alchemy of Storytelling. Some of Walloch's engagements have included the American Repertory Theater at Harvard, George Washington University, UC Berkeley, New York University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Loyola Marymount University, Sydney, Australia's High School of the Performing Arts, Escuela Campo Alegre in Venezuela, and The Calhoun School in New York City, among others. He also mentors students at Hamburg Germany's D&F Academy.
