- American story writer and author of novels which chronicle the settling of the American West from 1830. With the exception of These Thousand Hills (1959), Guthrie depicted a rugged, generally unromanticised West, his works often filled with accurate historical detail. He attended the University of Washington (1919-20) and graduated with a degree in journalism from the University of Montana in 1923. A former journalist and executive editor of the Lexington Reader (1926-47), he won the Pulitzer Prize for his 1950 novel 'The Way West'. His best-known filmed works are The Big Sky (1952) (written in 1947, about a 19th century beaver trapper) and his Oscar-nominated screenplay for Shane (1953). Guthrie later became a staunch environmentalist, donating 80 acres to the Nature Conservancy's Pine Butte Swamp Preserve a year prior to his death.

It's been an intense few years for singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/producer Alexa Melo. In June of 2015, at 20 years old, the Massachusetts-born, L.A.-raised artist independently released her self-titled debut album. A series of West Coast concert performances got industry tastemakers talking, acclaim from the blogosphere began to build, and support from major market radio programmers across the country soon followed.
But just as things were ramping up, emergency surgery on her vocal chords grinded the momentum to an untimely halt. "It got to the point where, if I didn't get a vocal cord cyst removed, there would be irreversible damage," Alexa says. "So the timing was terrible, but it needed to get done."
After a full year of vocal rest - pure agony to a performer as prolific as Melo - she slowly got herself back into the swing of things in 2016, recording a series of cover songs to post on YouTube. Alexa says of the sessions, "It was a good way to practice singing again. It eased me back into performing, and helped me let people know that I didn't give up!"
Alexa moved to San Francisco in the summer of 2017 to begin a vigorous search for inspiration, to continue rebuilding her spirit and to create a new sound of her own. In a short few months she wrote and produced her upcoming second release, the four-song Mute EP. It embodies and sonically manifests the mental and physical struggles she'd dealt with while recuperating from vocal surgery. In the process of producing MUTE she met a key collaborator, videographer Daniel Garcia. He helped to create a visual aesthetic for the EP, directing compelling and emotionally-charged music videos for each song.
Alexa plans to release the first single and music video in the summer of 2018. The entire EP will be available in the fall.- Alicia Racine was born on 8 March 1978 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, USA. She is an actress, known for Fairhaven (2012), Madso's War (2010) and Magic Pillow Boy (2017).

Andrea Borges was born on 20 April 1984 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, USA. She is an actress and cinematographer, known for The Cold Read (2013), The Trespasser (2014) and All the Way, Part One (2011).- Andrew Harold Rubin was born in the seaport town of New Bedford, Massachusetts. His father, Simon, owned a furniture and bedding factory and his mother, Leona (nee Greenstone) was an artist and international travel writer.
Andy, as he was called then, began performing and acting at the age of 10. He wrote and starred in skits and plays at the Jewish Community Center. Afterward, he continued acting the leads in plays while attending New Bedford High School. He won a college acting scholarship from the high school in his senior year.
School didn't make a lot of sense to him and as a result he only got into one college that he applied to. Wagner College, a Lutheran School, was located on Staten Island and as a concession to his parents Rubin agreed to go there. By the end of the school year Rubin's parents had received 24 letters from the Dean of Men listing various infractions by their son. His college career came rapidly to a close.
With his heart in acting, he auditioned for the famed American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. The Academy was like an embryo for him: an amazing training ground to eat and breathe acting daily for two years. After graduation he got a job as a page at NBC 30 Rock rising rapidly in the ranks to become the youngest full time writer in the history of the NBC Publicity Department. Going on auditions while at NBC landed him his first big time job. He was cast from hundreds of hopefuls to play the character of Cosmo in a guy/girl duo in a national commercial campaign (6 TV and 5 radio) for Sprite soda.
After being flown to California to shoot for two weeks on location, Rubin decided to move to California to seek work. He met with success almost immediately, guest starring in various television dramatic series including "Ironside", "The Streets of San Francisco", "Cannon" and dozens of others. He also scored recurring roles on well known comedies of the day such as "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman", "The Jeffersons", and "The Odd Couple".
Rubin's big break came when he was tapped by director Martin Ritt ('Hud','Sounder') to star as Walter Matthau's eldest son, Buddy, in the horse-racing picture "Casey's Shadow". Although the film and he got terrific reviews it was not a box office success because it conflicted with another Matthau film, "House Calls" (with Glenda Jackson) which was released the same day.
He followed "Casey's Shadow" with the iconic film, "Police Academy", playing the character of George Martin, the suave Lothario pretending to be Hispanic so he "could get the girls". Rubin then went on to star in three television series, "Jessica Novak" (with Helen Shaver), "Hometown" (TV version of "The Big Chill") and "Joe Bash", an offbeat comedy starring him and Peter Boyle as two lower Manhattan beat cops created and produced by Danny Arnold ("Barney Miller").
Rubin continued to work in TV doing films and mini-series ("Roughnecks", "Deadline: Madrid") and in movies ("Nuts"- playing Barbra Streisand's ex-husband, "Sunnyside", "Little Miss Marker", "Tell Me That You Love Me"). He also was a regular on the Los Angeles theater scene starring in the Company Theater's "James Joyce Memorial Liquid Theater", Sam Shepard's "The Unseen Hand" at the Odyssey, "Hopscotch" at LAAT and "The Passing Game", produced by Tom Hanks, at the Gene Dynarski.
It was about this time that Rubin went on what he calls a "walkabout" traveling the world. During that time he explored the pyramids of Egypt, the temples of India and the outback of Australia where he and his wife, Lauren, lived with an Aboriginal tribe in a remote region of the country. He would also return to work occasionally, playing Jules Bergman, ABC's Science correspondent in "From the Earth to the Moon", and also writing and starring in "Men and Their Fathers", a well received short film.
He recently completed filming for a documentary, "The CURE Is U", set for release in 2012. No longer on a 'walkabout', he lives with his wife, Dr. Lauren Rubin, two dogs and five cats in Pacific Palisades. His passion for and love of acting has never dimmed. - Production Manager

Austin C. Gorham was born on 5 March 1901 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, USA. He was an actor. He died on 19 December 1978 in Broward, Florida, USA.- Emmy and Tony Award-winner Barnard Hughes forged a career as one of American's most successful character actors, equally at home and successful on stage, the silver screen, and television. Most of his success came after middle-age. He made his Broadway debut in 1939 in Mary McCarthy's "Please, Mrs. Garibaldi", a flop that lasted only four performances. He appeared in another 22 Broadway shows, his last being Noël Coward's "Waiting in the Wings, which closed in the year 2000. His Broadway career lasted spanned 61 years and eight decades. Along the way, he won the 1978 Tony Award as best Actor in a play for Da (1988), his most famous role, which also brought him the Drama Desk Award as Outstanding Actor in a Play. (He won a lifetime achievement Drama Desk Award in 2000.) He also was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play in 1973 for Much Ado About Nothing (1973), which was fitting, as it was in Shakespeare repertory that he honed his craft. Hughes was born Bernard Aloysius Kiernan Hughes on July 16, 1915, in Bedford Hills, New York, to Irish immigrants Marcella "Madge" (Kiernan) and Owen Hughes. Bedford Hills is a hamlet lying 41 miles north of the heart of Broadway in Times Square (He changed the spelling of his Christian name on the advice of a numerologist; thespians are very superstitious). After graduating from the La Salle Academy and attending Manhattan College, he joined New York City's Shakespeare Fellowship Repertory Co. He was a member of the company for two years. He did not actually appear on Broadway in Shakespeare until 1964, when he played Marcellus to Richard Burton's Hamlet (1964). Off-Broadway, he played Polonius to Stacy Keach's Obie Award-winning Hamlet in 1972. His only other Shakespearean turn on the boards of the Great White Way was as Dogberry in "Much Ado About Nothing" in the 1972-73 season, which brought him his first Tony nomination. Off-Broadway, he also appeared as the Chorus in "Pericles, Prince of Tyre" and Sir John Falstaff in "The Merry Wives of Windsor". Back on Broadway, his most prominent role other than "Da" (which he also played in the roadshow tour) was as the Old Man opposite Alec Baldwin in Prelude to a Kiss (1992). Hughes had a 54 year-long screen career, equally adept in television as in movies. He was a regular on the soap opera Guiding Light (1952) from 1961-66. Though Hughes was a highly effective dramatic actor, he had a flair for comedy and appeared on such sit-coms as _"The Phil Silvers Show" (TV series) and _"Car 54, Where Are You?" (1962)_ before having recurring roles on "All In the Family" (1971) as a priest and on The Bob Newhart Show (1972) as Bob's father in the 1970s. He eventually headlined his own sit-com in the mid '70s, Doc (1975), which had a successful first season but was canceled early into its second after the network demanded changes to boost ratings. Instead, the ratings sank. His break-through performance in the movies arguably was a the messianic doctor who was a victim of malpractice and turned avenger in Paddy Chayefsky's The Hospital (1971) in 1971. It came two years after a small but memorable part in Best Picture Oscar winner Midnight Cowboy (1969), as he middle-aged gay mamma's boy who picks up self-styled "hustler" Joe Buck with disastrous consequences. Hughes married actress Helen Stenborg in 1950 and they remained married until his death on July 11, 2006, five days before what would have been his 91st birthday. The couple had two children, theatrical director Doug Hughes (who was also a Tony-winner) and a daughter, actress Laura Hughes.

Dave's focus, however, remained on acting as he used his newfound opportunity to move to New York and enroll in the acclaimed Herbert Bergdorf studio, studying under the late, celebrated actor, William Hickey, as well as an acceptance into the "Absolute Theater Company," which produced off Broadway plays. After benefiting from a donation from Al Pacino, the Company was able to produce a showcase in Los Angeles, which in turn, allowed Dave to make his destined move out west.
With experience and a solid resume, Dave quickly booked a role in the final installment of the Crow franchise, The Crow: Wicked Prayer, for Dimension Films in 2005, opposite Danny Trejo and Dennis Hopper. Several parts in film and television followed, including recurring roles in NBC's "Miss Match," alongside Alicia Silverstone and Ryan O'Neil, "Las Vegas," opposite Josh Duhamel and Vanessa Marcil, and a five-episode arc on Showtime's "Dexter," where Dave played Gabriel, the boyfriend to the title character's sister.
Dave can also be seen in the feature Mothers and Daughters, opposite Sharon Stone, Susan Sarandon, Selma Blair, Christina Ricci, and Courteney Cox, playing a doctor who develops a personal relationship with Selma Blair's character, as she struggles to make a tough decision regarding an unexpected pregnancy.
Other credits include the Daytime Episodic, "Days of Our Lives," CBS' "The Mentalist," The CW fantasy-drama, "The Secret Circle," the long-running Paramount comedy, "All of Us," co-created by Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, and the popular IFC series "Maron" in 2015, along with countless commercials for brands such as, Bud Light, Craftsman, Honda, Toyota, Buick, Caress, Verizon and AT&T, among others.
For Dave, acting is a companion to his natural thirst for life and intense reflection into his own soul. He is keenly aware that an actors journey never ends, the craft never perfected, but only built layer upon layer. This intense passion has led Dave to a new endeavor as he transitions into teaching the craft as well, sharing his experience, trade-craft and unique insights of the industry that has fulfilled him for over a decade. - Composer
A British composer and performer of acoustic and electronic music who has created numerous works for the concert hall, stage, TV and film. He also regularly performs in and curates events featuring stylistically varied music - often in conjunction with other artistic disciplines.
After graduating from City University, London in 1991, his noted abilities as a pianist (which combined classical training with autodidactic explorations of various forms of jazz, vernacular music and improvisation) swiftly led to a diverse range of performance opportunities with, amongst others, Marc Ribot, Gunther Schuller, John Adams, BBC Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, London Sinfonietta, Steve Martland Band and numerous jazz and rock bands.
It wasn't until 2000 that he began composing for the concert hall and his first piece (Trilogy, a solo work for the percussionist Colin Currie) inspired a number of new chamber commissions for classical soloists including violinist Viktoria Mullova and pianists Katia and Marielle Labèque which subsequently led to the first ever recording and touring project featuring his own music: the Katia Labèque Band.
Lucerne Festival, Radio France, Borletti-Buitoni Trust and BBC Radio 3 have all commissioned works from Maric, including pieces for L'Orchestre National de Montpellier, trumpeter Håkan Hardenberger and guitarist Fred Frith. Maric has an ongoing artistic collaboration with Colin Currie through regularly developing new works for percussion which have since become standard repertoire for many students and soloists around the world. Many of these works appear on the critically acclaimed album recording Borrowed Time released by Onyx Classics in 2007.
More recent projects include a concerto for trumpet and symphony orchestra for Ole Edvard Antonsen and an album recording of solo/multi-tracked piano music. Forthcoming works include a piano concerto and a work for soprano, solo percussion and chamber orchestra for Barbara Hannigan. Recent performing highlights include an historic performance at the Royal Festival Hall with the Colin Currie Group performing Steve Reich's Music for 18 Musicians, which has been described by the composer and others as possibly the definitive performance of this piece so far.
Maric has worked extensively with other artistic disciplines ranging from spoken word to video art, animation, shadow puppetry and dance where he has produced a wide variety of music ranging from short electronic pieces to full evening orchestral scores. These include works for companies such as the Theatre of Dolls, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Northern Ballet Theatre, Finnish National Opera and the Bern Ballet.- Actor
