Webster. Webster's father was a prominent Chicago area manufacturer.
After graduating from Hamilton College in 1897, Webster taught rhetoric at Union College. His first book, "The Short Line War", written in collaboration with fellow Evanstonian, Samuel Merwin was published in 1899. Webster and Merwin later collaborated on two additional novels, "Calumet K" (1901) and "Comrade John" (1907).
Webster writings fell into two categories, his left hand work and his right hand work. His left hand work created countless stories for pulp fiction publications, while his right hand work was reserved for more serious endeavors.
In 1901 Webster married Mary Ward Orth, a daughter of a coal dealer from Hiawatha, Kansas. The couple went on to have three sons, Henry Jr., Stokely and Roderick.
In all Webster wrote 27 novels, 1 play and hundreds of short stories. Henry Kitchell Webster died of cancer on 8 December, 1932 at Evanston. He was survived by his wife and three sons. - Actor

John M. Vitale's editorial career spans 29 years. The Evanston, Illinois native started his film journey as an apprentice editor for the legendary comedic film director, John Hughes. He continued to work as an Assistant Editor on movies filmed in Chicago until he moved to Los Angeles to finish working on the comedy blockbuster, "My Best Friend's Wedding" starring Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz. After growing up as a cinephile & dedicated still photographer, New York Film Academy's high school filmmaking workshop at Universal Studios, Hollywood provided Justin with a short film suitable for submission to New York University's Tisch School Of The Arts (from which he subsequently earned his B.F.A. in 2005). In the summer of 2002, Justin formed his main media entity, Starmaker Productions, which produced his 1st major short film, "Sunset Town." Film premiered at the Lake Placid Film Festival, as a "Spotlight Short." Canada's trendy Anti-Matter Film Festival called it "a dark and brilliant farce." In Summer 2003, Justin made his 2nd major short film, "Fault," which screened at over 60 festivals internationally, taking several top prizes; ultimately showing in Kodak's Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at Festival De Cannes. "Fault" is now distributed by Shorts International, home to the short film catalogs of Alfred Hitchcock and Peter Greenaway, among others. "Fault" is available via Shorts HD, live on DirecTV in the USA & UK; for sale on iTunes in 23 territories. In 2006, Swibel made his feature debut with an experimental 61-minute film called "Modern Man." Theatrically exhibited in LA & New York in Winter 2006 & Spring 2007, respectively; glowingly reviewed by The New York Times, which noted Swibel's "assured style," dubbed the film "a droll parable...you will leave the theater seeing the world with fresh eyes." In 2012, Swibel completed his 3rd short film, "Cocaine Jungle;" optioned a feature screenplay to a reputable production company based in NYC & LA. - Samuel Merwin was born on 6 October, 1874, at Evanston, Illinois, the son of Orlando H. and Ella B. Merwin. Orlando Merwin served as postmaster of Evanston.
Merwin attended Northwestern University and between 1905 and 1911 worked as associate editor and eventually editor of Success Magazine. In 1907 the magazine sent him to China to investigate the opium trade. His first book, "The Short Line War", written in collaboration with fellow Evanstonian, Henry Kitchell Webster was published in 1899. Merwin and Webster later collaborated on two additional novels, "Calumet K" (1901) and "Comrade John" (1907).
Merwin went on to be a successful novelist, playwright and short story writer. Two of his more popular works were "Anthony the Absolute" (1914) and "Temperamental Henry: An Episodic History of the Early Life and the Young Loves of Henry Calverly 3rd" (1917).
In 1901 Merwin married Edna Earl Fleshiem. The couple had two sons, Samuel and Banister and one adopted son, John. Banister and John preceded their father in death.
Merwin was an early supporter of the women's rights movement. His aunt was women's suffragist leader, Frances E. Willard. Later in life he expressed the opinion that their emancipation only resulted in underdressed flappers oversupplied with money, automobiles, liquor and wildness.
