Coached by the great Ricco Groß and Frank Spengler, Hildebrand's first year in biathlon was 2000. She was chosen to join the German National team after her remarkable performance at the 2010 European Championships in Otepää. Franziska won two medals, a gold with the relay and a bronze in the Individual. One year later at the 2011 European Championships in Ridnaun, she won the bronze with the relay. Hildebrand's first World Championships were in 2012 in Ruhpolding. She took part only in two events - the 7.5 km sprint where placed 29th and the following 10 km pursuit where was 47th. In spite of these results, Hildebrand finished 27th in the overall. The next year, Franziska participated at the World Championships in Nove Mesto. She raced in all events and finished 51st in the Individual, 13th in the sprint, 17th in the pursuit, 22nd in the mass start and 5th in the relay. Hildebrand was a member of he German team who competed at the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi. those were the first Games in her career. She positioned 38th in the Individual, 28th in the mass start and 11th in the relay. However the season concluded for her at number 14th in the overall. In 2014-2015, Franziska Hildebrand made her first individual podium - a second place in the sprint in Nove Mesto. She also managed a 5th place in the sprint in Hochfilzen. At the 2015 World Championships in Kontiolahti, Franziska won a gold medal in the relay, was twice 10th in the Individual and sprint and twice 6th in the pursuit and the mass start. Hildebrand finished the season 5th in the overall. The 2015-2016 season was the most successful in her entire career so far. Hildebrand made her first World Cup victories in the 7.5 km sprints in Hochfilzen and Ruhpolding, a second place in the mass start in Ruhpolding, twice 3rd place in the sprint in Pokljuka and the pursuit in Östersund, twice 4th place in the Individual in Ruhpolding and the pursuit in Hochfilzen and once 5th position in the mass start in Canmore. At the 2016 World Championships in Holmenkollen, Franziska Hildebrand won 2 medals - a silver in the mixed relay and a bronze medal with the relay. Finished 6th in the Individual, 10th in the sprint, 4th in the pursuit and 14th in the mass start. Once again the season concluded at number 5th in the overall.

He studied Cinematography at the Film University Babelsberg "Konrad Wolf" and the Cuban International Film School (EICTV) and received his degree (graded "excellent") from the Film University Babelsberg in 2013.
The short film "Mondwärts" (director: Aron Lehmann) was screened at several film festivals, got rated as "valuable" by the FBW (the German film-rating commission) and was broadcast on television in 2010. His thesis film "Zima" (dir: Marcus Heep) was nominated for the German Short Film Award 2013 and also shown on television. The documentary "Breath - Beyond the obvious" (dir: Roland Elí Sachs) premiered at the Hof International Film Festival and was broadcast by ARTE in 2015. "Bruder Jakob" (dir: Roland Elí Sachs) was selected for the international program at Dok-Leipzig International Film Festival 2016 and was nominated for the "Goethe-Institute Documentary Film Prize".
