Alexandru Lazar was born on 24 April 1933 in the village of Ileana - Stefanesti, Calarasi county, Romania. He had already attended for two years the "Faculty of Philology" at the "University of Bucharest" before studying for an Actor with the internationally renown Romanian "Theatere and Film Institute" (IATC) Bucharest, which he finished in 1961 at prof. Moni Ghelerter's class, having Sorana Coroama and Ion Henter as assistants. He was not only an actor and the "Communist Party"'s Secretary for fifteen years with the "Theatre of Youth" in Piatra Neamt, but the "right hand" of one of the best Romanian theatre managers Ion Coman and later for his follower Eduard (Edy) Covaly, acting as a adviser for all leaders who followed, writing books about all of them. Being kicked off the Party in 1974, he had to leave the theater and his acting career, but managed to become assistant of the famous Romanian actor Amza Pellea at the IATC, where he could teach and supervise all actor students. Between 1991 -2001 he was an assistant prof. of the "Theatre and Film Academy (ATF) as the IATC was named after the "Revoulution" from 1989, obtaining a PhD in Romanian Theatre History. Between 2001-2010 the taught acting at the "Hyperion University Bucharest.
