- The Stick was an extremely thin and zany comic actor who alas had a regrettably brief career in films and television. The Stick was born Patrick Boone Varnell on January 22, 1941 in Lawton, Oklahoma. Varnell graduated from Ardmore High School in Ardmore, Oklahoma in 1960. Patrick gave a delightfully wacky performance as dim-witted and double-jointed janitor Malvert in the hilariously crude slasher spoof Student Bodies (1981). His only other acting role was as a stagehand on an episode of the Nickelodeon comedy TV series Out of Control (1984). Varnell lived in both Houston and Corsicana, Texas. Moreover, Patrick worked for the restaurant chain Q's. Varnell died at age 48 at Medical City Hospital in Dallas, Texas on May 7, 1989. His body was donated to science.
