In 1974, concerned about the likely impeachment of Richard Nixon, he composed the lyrics and music of a song "Hang in There Mr. President", which was recorded and distributed by Telemark Dance Records. It was played on radio stations, and Richard Mason, Telemark's president, personally delivered the 45 rpm record to all of the U.S. Senators on Capitol Hill. Shortly thereafter, Tobias issued a song folio "Let's Sing for the President" containing three of his compositions--"Hang in There Mr. President", "I'm A Democrat for Nixon" , and "We're Fixin' A Date with Nixon", along with the venerable "Hail to the Chief". Mason delivered a copy to the White House and received a letter of appreciation from Nixon. Also Tobias and Mason flew to Pittsburgh, where Frank Yankovich and his Orchestra were recording an LP for Telemark and produced another 45 rpm single of "Hang in There Mr. President" backed by another Tobias composition "The Bicyle Song" (it was during the Mideast Oil Crisis), with Bernie Knee of Teaneck.
