He was hospitalized and released after 5 days only to be readmitted in early March 2004. This time, he was in the hospital for 7 weeks because the staph infection had gone to his heart (endocarditis). He was discharged with orders to follow-up and a heart valve replacement surgery likely in his future. Craig was fine after his release until the beginning of June 2004, when he began to complain of flu-like symptoms. However, he refused to go to the doctor, no matter how much his loved ones begged him to go. On June 11, 2004, he was readmitted to the hospital, this time unable to see. Unfortunately, the endocarditis had not gone away completely after his March-April 2004 hospital stay and now the infection had spread to his brain.
