Aagot Børseth was born on 29 November 1898 in Oslo, Norway. She was an actress, known for Felix (1921), Frestelse (1940) and Selkvinnen (1953). She was married to Henrik Børseth. She died in 1993 in Oslo, Norway.- Her parents were stage actor Christopher Kavli, deceased 1888, and Agnes Texnes. She became a student at the National Theater from it's opening in 1899. She was the only actress who was employed at the theater's first fifty years without interruption. Aagot Nissen was not among the foremost actors on the stage, but a solid character actress in a varied repertoire. Rarely interviewed, she was celebrated on the Radio on her 95th birthday in May 1977. The host were Gry Waage. Played only in one film, one reason was that Norway produced few films, and that many stage actors of her generation, were somewhat skeptical of performing in front of the camera.

She was born at Vika, in central Kristiania, (now Oslo) and among her neighbours were famous playwright Henrik Ibsen. She and her older brother lost their parents early, Aase Bye was only 16 years old.
From her stage debut at The National Theater in 1923 as Solveig in "Peer Gynt" (Ibsen) she played Eliza in "Pygmalion" (Shaw) Hanna Glawari in "The Merry Widow" (Lehar) and Blanche in "A Streetcar Named Desire" (Williams) among many others until retirement in 1974.
In Films and TV she was rarely seen, but in some early screenings we can all see her gracious way of acting. In 1972 a great role at the stage, as Kathleen in "Home" (Storey) was adapted for Television.
She had a wonderful diction, and was a much used reader, in Radio, TV, and in Concert halls. - Aasta Voss was born on 26 October 1914 in Norway. She was an actress, known for Boer Boerson Jr. (1938), Ungen (1974) and Tørres Snørtevold (1940). She died in 1994 in Oslo, Norway.

Charismatic and very popular Norwegian stage and screen actor, also a gifted fiddler. Educated at a military academy in Bergen, his only connection with theater was as an extra at the local stage: Den Nationale Scene. But with a growing interest for the art of theater, he got an engagement at The Norwegian Theater in 1920 and, from 1931, he was engaged at The National Theater, both in Oslo.
He became one of Norway's finest character actors, at his best, as "Peer Gynt", (Henrik Ibsen) and as "James Tyrone" (Eugene O'Neill).
In Norway, he became a big movie star with his leading roles in films like: Fant (1937), Gjest Baardsen (1939), Tørres Snørtevold (1940) and Trysil-Knut (1942), among others.
As an individual, he was an ordinary and likeable fellow, often visiting his homewards in Bryggja, Nordfjord, where he was a true local hero!- Actor

Born Annie Wiggins Brown in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of a prominent physician, Dr Harry F. Brown, the grandson of a slave. Her mother was of African, Cherokee and Scottish-Irish descent. Along with her three sisters, she was taught and encouraged in music by her mother. Hopes of developing her musical talents were dashed when a local Catholic school refused her entry on the grounds of her color. She encountered similar discrimination some years later when she applied to the Peabody Institute in Baltimore, but was finally admitted to Morgan State College and Columbia University Teachers' College.
All three of her marriages ended in divorce. Brown remained in Oslo until her death. In 1999 she was elected an honorary citizen of Baltimore, the town where, 70 years earlier, she had been denied a musical education on account of her skin color. In 2000 she received the prestigious annual cultural award from Arts Council Norway. Arild Kristo, born Arild Kristoffersen in 1939, was a Norwegian photographer, graphic designer, actor and filmmaker. He was considered one of the most creative photographers and filmmakers in Norway during the sixties, but also one of the most rejected. The son of the cabaret singer and writer Einar Kristoffersen, enrolled at age 18 on a commercial trade ship, spent a few months in New York and was offered a job as a sailor by the photographer Finn Bergan in the remake of "Windjammer"(1958). Kristo got his photographic education at ArtCenter College of Design, Pasadena, Ca., and received a letter of recommendation by the editor Richard Pollard at Life magazine. In Paris 1961 he took one of his most appreciated and highly priced photographs," The portrait painter on Montmartre", now in the collection of the Norwegian National museum. Back in Oslo, he formed the picture agency Manité together with the photographers Robert A. Robinson and Dan Young. In 1966 he created the short film "Undergrunnen / The Underground", a modernist view of the Oslo subway and the people using it. The film got big impact in the art film community and was invited to film festivals all over the world. Another short film "Kristoball" (1967) was directed before Arild Kristo made his feature film debut. "Eddie og Suzanne", a road movie with a love theme, took six years to complete but landed 1975 in a critic and audience success. Sixteen years later, Kristo made an animated short film called "Miraklete / The Miracle", which depicted the difficulty of funding his films.- Arne Aas was born on 7 July 1931 in Oslo, Norway. Aud Egede-Nissen was born on 30 May 1893 in Bergen, Norway. She was an actress and producer, known for Dr. Mabuse, the Gambler (1922), Das Phantom der Oper (1916) and Deception (1920). She was married to Paul Richter and Georg Alexander. She died on 6 November 1974 in Oslo, Norway.- This diminutive actress is without a doubt one of Norway's most beloved entertainer. A gripping dramatic actress as well as a world class comedienne, you wouldn't know it by looking at her. After debuting on stage just after the German occupation of Norway ended in 1945 she went on to became one of the countries most versatile performers. Her starring role as Mrs Piper (aka Lily Hansen) in the farce "Busybody" ("Skulle det dukke opp flere lik er det bare å ringe") is legendary. The part won her the Norwegian Critic's Award in 1969 and resulted in a Norwegian film version in 1970. The movie was seen by roughly 15% of the Norwegian public. On screen she was also memorable as Valborg, the wife of criminal Kjell, in 14 crime-comedies about "Olsenbanden" from 1968 to 1999. On TV she will be fondly remembered as Modern (Mom) in "Fleksnes fataliteter" (1973), the most popular sitcom in Scandinavian history. She re-teamed with "Fleksnes"-writer/director Bo Hermansson to star in two other popular sitcoms, "Fredrikssons fabrikk" in 1990 and "Nr 13" in 1999.

He became a mainstay in comedy, farce, and operetta, from 1913 at Tivoli Theater in Christiania, (now Oslo) later at Theatre Moderne, Casino Theater, and Chat Noir, also in Christiania.
His best portrayal was as "Ko-ko" in: "The Mikado".(Gilbert & Sullivan) His only film appearance was in a silent comedy in 1922, the film also became a great success for Mr.Schønemann.
Three years later he died at the early age of 34, sadly missed by thousand of fans in Christiania, and elsewhere in Norway. - Writer
