A-yia's father served as a lieutenant in the Hmong forces alongside the American CIA during the Vietnam War. After the American forces pulled out of Vietnam, the Pathet Lao started invading Hmong villages to rape the women and kill all the men. As political refugees of the war, A-yia's family had to flee Laos after the Americans pulled out and left the Hmong to fend for themselves against the Communist Pathet Lao. A-yia's family crossed the border into Thailand and was forced to live in refugee camps segregated from the general Thai population. It was in a refugee camp in Ban Vinai, Thailand that A-yia was born. When A-yia was a little more than a year old, his family was sponsored to come to the U.S. by his mom's brother. A-yia has 4 brothers and 1 sister.
A-yia's first acting role was in a third grade history play where he played Abraham Lincoln. It wasn't until 7th grade, where he stole scenes as Mr. McNasty in a melodrama called Way, Way, Way Down East, that A-yia acquired the "acting bug". The next year, he was cast as Sganarelle in the Moliere play, The Doctor Inspite of Himself.
In high school, A-yia began work with Pom Siab Hmoob Theater (now called Center for Hmong Arts and Talent) where he played various roles in Hmong Tapestries: Voices From the Cloth. Hmong Tapestries: Voices from the Cloth was considered one of the 10 best plays in the Twin Cities that year. A-yia eventually toured with the company nationally for this role, advocating the plight of the Hmong to many audiences. A-yia also connected with Pom Siab Hmoob Theater to play Pob Zeb in We Are Hmong, a play about culture clashes between parents who grew up with old country values and their children who grow up with American values.
As a prestigious Kirby Puckett Scholar and a President's Outstanding Minority Scholar, A-yia attended the University of Minnesota with a full scholarship to study Neuroscience for a future career as a doctor. However, A-yia never stopped acting during his college years and eventually decided that he would stick with acting. In his final year of college, he switched his major from Neuroscience to Theater. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater with emphasis on acting and directing from the University of Minnesota.
After graduation, A-yia wrote and directed his own play for the Minnesota Fringe Festival. It was called The Invisible People, a play about two lesbians who committed suicide because the community around them would not accept their sexual orientation. The play opened to standing room only audiences. After the Invisible People, Pangea World Theater commissioned A-yia to write Under The Bridge with Saychay Thor, a play about domestic abuse in a small tight knit minority community. A-yia is working on a screen adaptation of this script.
In 2001, A-yia started volunteering on public access TV sets in Saint Paul, MN. There he started to learn the technical aspects of production. During his time there, A-yia performed the role of cameraman, sound, floor manager, switcher, editor, titling and producer for many of the shows produced at that studio. He also started a production company, Peripheral Blur Productions. While in Minnesota, this company has worked with Darren Sharper's Sharperpalooza, the Jack Brewer Foundation, Jolie Magazine's 1 year Anniversary, Mint Condition, Jelly Bean Johnson and the United Way.
Some of the people A-yia has worked with include: Rick Shiomi from Theater Mu, Dipankar Mukherjee from Pangea World Theater and formerly the Guthrie Theater, Lou Bellamy from the Penumbra Theater, Kent Stephens, Dr. Stephen Kanee, Howard Dalin, and Pamela Shae.
A-yia has traveled world wide, lived in Japan for 6 months and speaks three languages fluently. A-yia resides in Los Angeles, CA pursuing a career as an actor and a director while working as a professional photographer.- Director

British-born A. Edward ("Eddie") Sutherland started in vaudeville and acted in films from 1914 at Keystone (he was one of the original Keystone Kops). He became a director in 1925, first with Paramount (1925-31), then at United Artists (1931-32), again with Paramount (1933, 1935-37), then Universal (1940-41) and RKO (1942). He hit his stride in the 1930s and 1940s with a string of well-received comedies starring Laurel & Hardy and W.C. Fields, but his Abie's Irish Rose (1946), an adaptation of the often-filmed stage play, which he also produced, was such a critical and financial disaster that he could not find work as a director in Hollywood again. In the 1950s he went to Britain and ended his career directing episodic television.- Costume and Wardrobe Department

A.Jaye Estey was born on April 29, 1964, in the City of Miramichi, New Brunswick, Canada as Andrew James Estey. The youngest of eight children, he currently resides in Toronto, Canada. He is well known for garment design and photography. Estey also has years of experience with make-up application, and hairstyling. Estey's love for design flourished in the early '80s when he partnered with two retail companies, to promote and sell his garments. He has been featured in television, news, and magazines throughout Canada the United States and Europe. Some of his work for Fashion and Photography can be viewed at ajstdesigns.com.- Born in Porterville, California in 1928, A. John Graves was writing songs and playing piano for school and vaudeville type shows at the age of eight, with his first professional engagement coming six years later. Through the World War II years, his high school dance band had a corner on most of the dances in Tulare County, since all the other musicians had been drafted. His other early professional musical experiences were with former big band jazz players who were too old for the service. (This is where he learned many of the some three thousand songs now included in his request book, The Memory Flogger).
Upon graduating from The College of the Pacific, he went to Los Angeles to try starting a career in broadcasting. When his money ran out, he went on the road with a small comedy band, replacing Stan Freberg. Besides playing for dancing, they did three floor shows a night, and Graves was featured as a dead-pan comedian. After a tour with Rick Fay's Krazy Kats, he settled in Los Angeles and started a family while earning a living playing in piano bars.
Since his efforts to break into broadcasting had been unsuccessful, he finally decided to start at the very bottom, and became a page at NBC. Six months later he was selecting recorded background music for Matinee Theater daily dramas, followed by an eight year stint as an NBC Broadcast Standards Program Policy Editor (so-called censor). This led to the position which had become his goal: Manager of Film Programs, where he supervised for NBC such shows as Bonanza, I Dream of Jeannie, Ironside, The Man from Uncle, Then Came Bronson, The Debbie Reynolds Show, The Monkees, and a series shot in London with Lord Lew Grade called The Strange Report.
In 1970 the management changed at MGM-TV and Graves moved over to become Director of Current Programming. He was the executive in charge of the award-winning Medical Center, The Courtship of Eddie's Father, GE Monogram Documentaries, and several syndicated talk shows. Since executive regimes at this level tend to change about every two years, 1972 gave him the opportunity to become a producer. He helmed Assignment Vienna, with Robert Conrad, an eight hour miniseries filmed on location in Vienna, Austria for MGM-TV and the ABC Television Network.
The newly formed South Australian Film Corporation was looking for someone with network, major studio, and international experience to head up their feature film and television area in1974, and Graves accepted the challenge. Under his guidance, the Corporation made its first major feature success: Peter Weir's critically acclaimed Picnic at Hanging Rock, of which Graves was Executive Producer. During his two year contract, he was also responsible for the BBC's feature Storm Boy, the re-editing of Sunday Too Far Away, and a TV feature movie, The Sound of Love.
Back in the U.S., there followed a series of development deals with Universal, Zev Braun Productions, and EMI. In 1981 Graves became a partner in L.A. House Productions and made a pilot for a syndicated sports show and produced corporate and institutional projects. At the same time, he enrolled in a graduate program at California State University at Northridge with the goal of teaching upon getting his master's degree in Mass Communication. After ten gratifying years as an associate professor in the Communication Department at Central Missouri State University, plus an exchange professorship in Wales, he retired to Pagosa Springs, Colorado as Professor Emeritus. He's very active in the local show business scene, as writer, performer, producer, and consultant.
Throughout this varied career, he has always played several nights a week as a single pianist, side man, or band leader at private parties, including affairs for Judy Garland, Groucho Marx, Danny Thomas, and John Wayne. He has recorded, been a staff pianist at KLAC-TV and on the first Betty White show, was musical director for the Gloria Hart Show on KLAC-TV, and has accompanied such artists as George Burns, June Christy, Rosemary Clooney, Rudy Vallee, Redd Foxx, Arthur Duncan, and Jimmy Durante.
Of the myriad of famous people Graves has met and/or worked with, he recalls associations with three that particularly stand out in his memory: a morning with Lord Bertrand Russell at his home in Wales, an afternoon tea with Katharine Hepburn at her home in Beverly Hills, and the delight of having Eric Sevareid as a house guest for three days in Warrensburg, Missouri.
After almost fifty years of evaluating other people's writing, he's now doing his own, as well as teaching a correspondence course in Creative Writing for Radio, Television, and Film for Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado. He also enjoys playing with different jazz groups, and at clubs and private parties for people who love the music of jazz, standards, and showtunes.
"Boom, Bust, and Battle" was a radio series he originated to explore the music and culture of the 20s, 30, and 40s. It became the basis for a musical variety show he produced with John Porter featuring a Dixieland band, singers, dancers, and comedians celebrating those three decades. This year (04) he created an original musical revue based on the life work of Richard Rodgers called "The Hills Are Alive...," which featured a cast of nearly fifty singers, dancers, and instrumentalists celebrating Rodgers' collaborations with Lorenz Hart and Oscar Hammerstein II. - Producer

Aaron Sorkin grew up in Scarsdale, a suburb of New York City where he was very involved in his high school drama and theater club. After graduating from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater, Sorkin intended to pursue a career in acting. It took him only a short time to realize that his true love, and his true talent, lay in writing. His first play, "Removing All Doubt", was not an immediate success, but his second play, "Hidden in This Picture", debuted in 1988 at the West Bank Cafe Downstairs Theater Bar. A longer version of "Hidden in This Picture", called "Making Movies", opened at the Promenade Theater in 1990. Despite his youth and relative inexperience, Sorkin was about to break into the spotlight. In 1989, he received the prestigious Outer Critics Circle award as Outstanding American Playwright for the stage version of A Few Good Men (1992), which was later nominated for a Golden Globe. The idea for the plot of "A Few Good Men" came from a conversation with his older sister, Deborah. Abdurahman Hussain aka Afro is a filmmaker based in Sana'a, Yemen who began his obsession with filmmaking at the age of 12 when he saw an old film on TV. Since then he fell in love with the world of cinema, and became addicted to films; always wondering how magic is made.
When school children played outside, Abdurahman preferred to spend hours in the company of films. He watched anything he could, and in a sacred notebook wrote down the names of the films that he loved along with the names of the directors. For him, this was like a school allowing him to learn what he loves. With time, the list became too long due to the increased amount of films he watched.
His father noticed his passion for film and gifted him his first camcorder. At the age of 14, he began producing homemade films with the family, neighborhood kids and school peers. With the advent of Internet and nonexistence of film schools in Yemen, his curiosity drove him to teach himself as much as he could. He spent most of his time on the Internet, reading, researching and learning as much as he could of this magical world. Cinema became everything to him; his own world. He spent his days fantasizing about ideas for films, imagining scenes and ways to make them - as if he lived in two different worlds: one in reality and the other in his mind.
At the age of 18, he started making TV advertisements and short films in his home city of Taiz. He graduated from high school, then left his family with his good friend and moved to the capital Sana'a in pursuit of opportunities in this field. Together they opened a small advertising and media production business.
In 2010, he wrote and directed "The Old Lady ", a five-minute short film about the Old City of Sana'a. In 2011, he wrote and directed Zoom Short Film Competition 2011 Winner, "The Gift Maker (2011)."
During the Arab Spring, Abdurahman produced Yemen's most circulated and well-acclaimed campaign videos. He shifted his filmmaking skills to advocacy and awareness because as he puts it "that's what I am good at. That's my language."
Through his work, Abdurahman managed to express his ideas through visuals and an assertion that film is a powerful tool and driver for social change.
"The more I learn the more I want to learn. There are many stories in Yemen that need to be told"
