Keanu Charles Reeves, whose first name means "cool breeze over the mountains" in Hawaiian, was born September 2, 1964 in Beirut, Lebanon. He is the son of Patric Reeves, a showgirl and costume designer, and Samuel Nowlin Reeves, a geologist. Keanu's father was born in Hawaii, of British, Portuguese, Native Hawaiian, and Chinese ancestry, and Keanu's mother is originally from Essex England. After his parents' marriage dissolved, Keanu moved with his mother and younger sister, Kim Reeves, to New York City, then Toronto. Stepfather #1 was Paul Aaron, a stage and film director - he and Patricia divorced within a year, after which she went on to marry (and divorce) rock promoter Robert Miller. Reeves never reconnected with his biological father. In high school, Reeves was lukewarm toward academics but took a keen interest in ice hockey (as team goalie, he earned the nickname "The Wall") and drama. He eventually dropped out of school to pursue an acting career.
After a few stage gigs and a handful of made-for-TV movies, he scored a supporting role in the Rob Lowe hockey flick Youngblood (1986), which was filmed in Canada. Shortly after the production wrapped, Reeves packed his bags and headed for Hollywood. Reeves popped up on critics' radar with his performance in the dark adolescent drama, River's Edge (1986), and landed a supporting role in the Oscar-nominated Dangerous Liaisons (1988) with director Stephen Frears.
His first popular success was the role of totally rad dude Ted "Theodore" Logan in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989). The wacky time-travel movie became something of a cultural phenomenon, and audiences would forever confuse Reeves's real-life persona with that of his doofy on-screen counterpart. He then joined the casts of Ron Howard's comedy, Parenthood (1989) and Lawrence Kasdan's I Love You to Death (1990).
Over the next few years, Reeves tried to shake the Ted stigma with a series of highbrow projects. He played a slumming rich boy opposite River Phoenix's narcoleptic male hustler in My Own Private Idaho (1991), an unlucky lawyer who stumbles into the vampire's lair in Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992), and Shakespearean party-pooper Don John in Much Ado About Nothing (1993).
In 1994, the understated actor became a big-budget action star with the release of Speed (1994). Its success heralded an era of five years in which Reeves would alternate between small films, like Feeling Minnesota (1996) and The Last Time I Committed Suicide (1997), and big films like A Walk in the Clouds (1995) and The Devil's Advocate (1997). (There were a couple misfires, too: Johnny Mnemonic (1995) and Chain Reaction (1996).) After all this, Reeves did the unthinkable and passed on the Speed sequel, but he struck box-office gold again a few years later with the Wachowski siblings' cyberadventure, The Matrix (1999).
Now a bonafide box-office star, Keanu would appear in a string of smaller films -- among them The Replacements (2000), The Watcher (2000), The Gift (2000), Sweet November (2001), and Hardball (2001) - before The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and The Matrix Revolutions (2003) were both released in 2003.
Since the end of The Matrix trilogy, Keanu has divided his time between mainstream and indie fare, landing hits with Something's Gotta Give (2003), The Lake House (2006), and Street Kings (2008). He's kept Matrix fans satiated with films such as Constantine (2005), A Scanner Darkly (2006), and The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008). And he's waded back into art-house territory with Ellie Parker (2005), Thumbsucker (2005), The Private Lives of Pippa Lee (2009), and Henry's Crime (2010).
Most recently, as post-production on the samurai epic 47 Ronin (2013) waged on, Keanu appeared in front of the camera in Side by Side (2012), a documentary on celluloid and digital filmmaking, which he also produced. He also directed another Asian-influenced project, Man of Tai Chi (2013).
In 2014, Keanu played the title role in the action revenge film John Wick (2014), which became popular with critics and audiences alike. He reprised the role in John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017), taking the now-iconic character to a better opening weekend and even more enthusiastic reviews than the first go-around.- Ella Rubin was born on 2 September 2001 in New York City, New York, USA. She is an actress, known for The Idea of You (2024), The Rewrite (2014) and Fear Street: Prom Queen.

Salma Hayek was born on September 2, 1966 in Coatzacoalcos, Mexico. Her father is of Lebanese descent and her mother is of Mexican/Spanish ancestry. After having seen Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971) in a local movie theater, she decided she wanted to become an actress. At age 12, she was sent to the Academy of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans, Louisiana. After attending Mexico City's prestigious university Universidad Iberoamericana, she felt ready to pursue acting seriously.
She soon landed the title role in Teresa (1989), a hugely successful soap opera which earned her the star status in her native Mexico. However, anxious to make films and to explore her talent as well as passion, she left both Teresa (1989) and Mexico in 1991. Heartbroken fans spread rumors that she was having a secret affair with Mexico's president and left to escape his wife's wrath. She made her way to Los Angeles. She approached Hollywood with naive enthusiasm and quickly learned that Latina actresses were typecast as the mistress maid or local prostitute. By late 1992, she had landed only small roles. She appeared on Street Justice (1991), The Sinbad Show (1993), Nurses (1991), and as a sexy maid on Dream On (1990). She also had only one line in My Crazy Life (1993). Feeling under-appreciated by Anglo filmmakers, she vented her frustrations on Paul Rodriguez's late-night Spanish-language talk show.
Robert Rodriguez and his wife Elizabeth Avellan happened to be watching and were immediately smitten with her. He soon gave her big break -- to star opposite Antonio Banderas in the cult classic Desperado (1995), bringing her into Hollywood prominence. The moviegoers were as dazzled with her as he had been. Afterwards, she was cast again by Rodriguez to star in the cult classic From Dusk Till Dawn (1996). Her first star billing came later that year with Fools Rush In (1997) opposite Matthew Perry. It was a modest hit and her star continued to rise in both commercial and films such as Breaking Up (1997) with an unknown Russell Crowe, 54 (1998), Dogma (1999) and In the Time of the Butterflies (2001), the small artistic film which won her an ALMA award as best actress and the summer blockbuster Wild Wild West (1999). Her production company Ventanarosa produced the Mexican feature film El coronel no tiene quien le escriba (1999), which was shown at the Cannes Film Festival and selected as Mexico's official Oscar entry for best foreign film.
The new millennium started out quietly as she prepared to produce and star in her dream role of Frida Kahlo, the legendary Mexican painter whom she had been admiring her entire life and whose story she wanted to bring to the big screen ever since she arrived in Hollywood. Frida (2002) was full of passion and enthusiasm, with performances from her and Alfred Molina as Kahlo's cheating husband Diego Rivera. It also featured an entourage of stars such as Antonio Banderas, Ashley Judd, Geoffrey Rush, Edward Norton and Valeria Golino.
It was a box office hit and was nominated for six Academy Awards, including best actress for Hayek. It won awards for make-up and score by Elliot Goldenthal. Later that year, she expanded her horizons, directing The Maldonado Miracle (2003), which was shown at the Sundance Film Festival. In 2003, she starred in the finale of Rodriguez's Desperado trilogy Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003), again opposite Banderas. She also starred in After the Sunset (2004) opposite Pierce Brosnan, and Ask the Dust (2006) opposite Colin Farrell. She then starred in Bandidas (2006), which also featured Penélope Cruz, and Lonely Hearts (2006) opposite Jared Leto.- Actor

Damson Idris is a British actor and producer. Born in 1991 in Peckham South East London to Nigerian parents, he is the youngest of six children. His parents arrived in the UK in search of a better life but he was raised by his single mother, who instilled in him ambition and hard work from a young age. Being the youngest he enjoyed entertaining family and friends and it was obvious early on how natural his talent was for the Arts. His dream nonetheless was to become a professional football player. He also played rugby and in 2002 he shook the hand of Queen Elizabeth II when his team took part in her Golden Jubilee. It wasn't until a knee injury that he began to seriously consider a career in acting.
He studied Theatre, Film & Television Studies at Brunel university in England, where he attained a BA Honours degree. He soon after trained at the Identity School of Acting.
His acting debut in 2012 was on the stages of UK theaters. Idris played the role of Sam in Khadija Is 18 at the Finborough theatre. Written by newcomer Shamser Sinha, it tells the story of the life of two young refugees in the UK and the hopes and heartbreak of the young. The play received great reviews and became a critics choice. The same year Idris starred in Ade Solanke's play Pandora's Box at the Arcola Theatre, before going on a national tour with the production. He offers a charismatic performance as Tope, whose mother forcibly enrolls him to a boarding school in Lagos. The play reveals the long-suppressed truths when a family spanning three generations meet in Lagos for the first time in over thirty years. This followed with a role in Hotel (2014) at the Royal National Theatre.
Developing his acting on the stage and feeding off the positive reaction of the live audience, he felt confident to branch into the small screen. He was cast in small roles in several British TV series including Miranda (2009), Doctors (2000) and Casualty (1986). It wasn't until 2017 that Idris made his Hollywood debut starring as the lead, 'Franklin Saint' a young street entrepreneur in hit FX Crime series Snowfall (2017). It captures the early days of the crack cocaine epidemic during the 1980's in Los Angeles. The series has received critical acclaim and forms one of the last productions of the late Producer and Director John Singleton.
Having firmly proved his acting ability Idris continued to explore TV roles that resonates with the challenges in modern society. In his role in the 'Replay' episode of Producer/Director Jordan Peeles reboot of The Twilight Zone (2019) series, he played Dorian Harrison a College kid faced with a racist interaction with a police officer, whose mother tries to save his life over and over again by rewinding time. In the episode 'Smithereens' of the Black Mirror (2011) series, we see Idris as Jaden, an intern of a large social media company 'Smithereen' and witness the consequences of overactive usage of social media sites and how they can distract society from the real world.
His debut in film came a little earlier in 2016, playing a small role as Hakim in British Thriller City of Tiny Lights (2016). The film tells the story of a private detective who investigates the disappearance of a Russian prostitute. He went on to take on roles with the persona of power and authority, as Lt Michael Foreman in Biographical Drama Megan Leavey (2017) (aka REX in the UK), Agent Denys in Action Thriller The Commuter (2018).
For his first film lead role in 2018 as Enitan in autobiographical Farming (2018), he played his most challenging role yet, the feared leader of a white skinhead gang. Idris continually proves to be a diversified actor and for this performance, won the Award for Best Actor in a British Film at the Edinburgh Film Festival, where the film won the Michael Powell Award.
His latest lead role is in Netflix's Action Sci-Fi film Outside the Wire (2021).- Actor

Mary Jo Catlett has been part of the main voice cast on SpongeBob SquarePants (1999) since its premiere, playing SpongeBob's teacher, Mrs. Puff. She is an unmistakably happy and hearty veteran character actress and comedienne who has found success in all three mediums (stage, film and television) with her trademark flowery voice, giddy demeanor and ever-cheery disposition. Having made her off-Broadway debut in 1963, the endearing Mary Jo Catlett is now broaching six decades in the entertainment business.
Catlett was born on September 2, 1938 in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Robert and Cornelia (Callaghan) Catlett. A graduate of Loretto Heights College in Denver, she was drawn to acting quite young -- musical comedy, in particular. While she made her off-Broadway debut in a 1963 melodrama, "Along Came a Spider", which opened at the Mermaid Theatre, the following year Mary Jo was right back in her tuneful element scoring as Ernestina in the original Broadway production of "Hello, Dolly!" starring Carol Channing. She toured with the production when Ginger Rogers took the show on tour. Eventually building up her resume in regional theater, she served as a replacement in the 1969 musical "Promenade", then returned to Broadway at the end of that year where her broad, burlesque style well suited the bawdy musical takeoff of Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales", which lasted about four months. Other New York-based productions came her way but most were short-lived, including "Greenwillow" (1970), "Different Times" (1972), "Lysistrata" (1972) and "Fashion" (1973). However, she did enjoy a scene-stealing role as Mabel in the New York revival of "The Pajama Game" in 1973.
While Mary Jo has a propensity for humor and laughter, she has also demonstrated an award-winning dramatic side. Her role as Lola Delaney in "Come Back, Little Sheba" earned her the Los Angeles Drama Critics Award in 1976. Four years later, she won the award again in a production of "Philadelphia, Here I Come". Over the years, she has flitted about not only in musicals ("Annie Get Your Gun" (as Annie), "How to Succeed in Business..."), but has tackled Shakespeare ("Twelfth Night", "Romeo and Juliet") and other serious stage roles ("27 Wagons Full of Cotton", "Naomi Court", "Our Town").
With her plaintive and matronly features, ample size, wallflower demeanor and instincts for broad levity, Mary Jo has proven to be a natural for small screen comedy. In the late 1960s, she began to apply her trade on-camera. One of her earliest mid-career appearances included a role in the television fantasy The Littlest Angel (1969) where she and fellow comedienne Lu Leonard played plus-sized scribes, but it was not until the mid-1970s that she began making the normal rounds with dozens of appearances on the sitcom circuit, including roles on "The Bob Newhart Show", "M*A*S*H", "Mr. Belvedere", "Night Court", Gimme a Break", "Saved By the Bell", "Maude" and "Welcome Back, Kotter". In 1982, she joined the cast as a housekeeping regular for television kids Gary Coleman, Todd Bridges and Dana Plato on Diff'rent Strokes (1978) and found plentiful work on lightweight dramatic series too such as "Murder, She Wrote," "Matlock" and "Fantasy Island". In daytime, she was nominated for an Emmy Award during the 1989-1990 season of General Hospital (1972). She also became a television face in households with over 30 national commercials to her credit.
Sparingly used on film, she made her debut in an unbilled part in Woody Allen's Bananas (1971). Other supporting work include roles in High Anxiety (1977), Semi-Tough (1977), The Champ (1979), The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982) and, more notably, Serial Mom (1994). She has had a slight upsurge of late in movie parts with roles in the gay-themed Surprise, Surprise (2010) and Anderson's Cross (2010), and the comedy How to Be a Serial Killer (2008). On stage, Mary Jo has continued to put her best foot forward on the musical stage in such productions as "Beauty and the Beast", "Big River" and "The Full Monty", not to mention several variations of "Nunsense" and its offshoots.
Over the years, Mary Jo has shown that her heart is as big as her talent as a consistently reliable and fun-filled novelty song performer at charity fund raisers and musical benefits, most notably for various AIDS and the Broadway-oriented "Help Is on the Way" organizations.- Actress

She had one of her first professional performances as the lead singer in her group, called, the "String Busters" playing Ukulele, with her back up on guitar and steel guitar when she was 9 years old. After high school she continued to perform while attending Santa Monica City College in the now famous, "Children's Theater." This was the first of its kind in Los Angeles to tour schools and give to the community of its local City College talent.
During a talent show Sandra was spotted while singing "The Last Time I Saw Paris," by an agent from Hollywood. She was soon signed and within a few months was starring at a Hollywood Theater in the lead role of the comedy, "The Moon is Blue." From that play she was spotted again by a casting agent who suggested her for the leading role opposite Robert Mitchum in his independent film production of Thunder Road (1958). She won the part in a major talent search after Mitchum had interviewed over 300 young women. From that role Mitchum and 20th Century Fox, Paramount and Columbia Studios offered Sandra contracts.
She went on to star in 5 feature films, and over 35 featured and starring roles in Television. She studied acting during her career, with Martin Landau and Jeff Corey. She starred with such actors as, Vincent Price, Rod Cameron, Boris Karloff, Dale Robertson, Bette Davis, Jack Nicholson and John Astin. She had the privilege of working with such renowned directors as Richard Donner, Francis Ford Coppola, Arthur Ripley, Tay Garnett, Roger Corman and Irvin Kershner.
While pursuing her career as an actor she also kept busy at UCLA, LACC and Otis Art Institute, studying philosophy, painting, and writing. She continued her pursuit of painting for eight years by studying privately and in small classes with still life and portrait painter Helen Winslow, a well-known American Impressionist.
In the 80's she wrote her first screenplay, "King City," with her husband John Stephenson, and formed a production company, "Synergy Production." She went on to write other screenplays, "Loving on the Wrong Side of the Brain," "The Contest," "A Question Of Balance," and "The Listening Lady." She also wrote many children's stories, "The Coconut Tree," and "The Secret of the Rain Forest," and the play, "Pagoda Hangout."

Hal Ashby was born the fourth and youngest child in a Mormon household, in Ogden, Utah, to Eileen Ireta (Hetzler) and James Thomas Ashby, on September 2, 1929. His father was a dairy farmer. After a rough childhood that included the divorce of his parents, his father's suicide, his dropping out of high school, getting married and divorced all before he was 19, he decided to leave Utah for California. A Californian employment office found him a printing press job at Universal Studios. Within a few years, he was an assistant film editor at various other studios. One of his pals while at MGM was a young messenger named Jack Nicholson. He moved up to being a full fledged editor on The Loved One (1965) and started editing the films of director Norman Jewison.
A highlight of his film editing career was winning an Oscar for the landmark In the Heat of the Night (1967). Itching to become a director, Jewison gave him a script he was too busy to work on called The Landlord (1970). It became Ashby's first film as a director. From there he delivered a series of well-acted, intelligent human scaled dramas that included The Last Detail (1973), Shampoo (1975), Bound for Glory (1976), Coming Home (1978) and Being There (1979). Great reviews and Oscar nominations became common on Ashby films.
Ashby was always a maverick and a contrary person and success proved difficult for Ashby to handle. He became unreliable due to his dependence on drugs and a reclusive lifestyle. He actually collapsed while making The Rolling Stones concert film Let's Spend the Night Together (1982) in Arizona. Although he recovered, he was never the same after that. He began taking too much time in post production on his films and actually had a couple of his later projects taken away from him to be edited by others. He tried to straighten himself out, but in the 1980s, he was considered by many to be unemployable. Just when he felt he was turning a corner in his life, he developed cancer that spread to his liver and colon. He died on December 27, 1988. Actor Sean Penn dedicated his first film as a director, The Indian Runner (1991) to Ashby and John Cassavetes, even though Penn was never directed by either one. Because he did not have a set visual style, many mistake this for no style at all. His career is not discussed as often as the careers of some of his contemporaries.- Actress

In 2023 Cara Jade Myers can be seen starring opposite Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and Brendan Fraser in "Killers of the Flower Moon" (Apple Original Films). Directed by Martin Scorsese, the film is based on David Grann's best-selling book and set in 1920s Oklahoma, where a string of brutal murders took place amongst the oil-wealthy Osage Nation. Myers stars as Anna Kyle Brown, Mollie Burkhart's (Gladstone) sister whose disappearance sets the stage for the investigation into the crimes being committed. Many of those who dared to look into the killings were themselves murdered, and the case became one of the F.B.I.'s first major homicide investigations. Together with the Osage they began to expose one of the most chilling conspiracies in American history. The film debuted at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival in May, then released exclusively in theaters in partnership with Paramount Pictures on October 20, 2023. The film will stream globally on Apple TV+.
A member of the Wichita tribe, Myers was born in Phoenix, Arizona. Influenced by the arts from a young age, her grandfather, Bobby Hill, was a well-known painter who worked under the name White Buffalo and her grandmother was an acclaimed beader whose work has been displayed in the Smithsonian. Myers was raised in Prescott Valley where she had an innate love for bringing characters to life, and in her early twenties began taking acting courses driving over four hours a day to class, which she now says prepared her for the traffic in L.A.
In 2011 she made the move to southern California, where she began to hone her craft in writing. She was accepted into the 4th Annual Native American Writers Lab, and that same year was a semi-finalist in the ABC/Disney writers program. In 2020 Myers was one of twelve writers selected as a part of A3 Artist Agency's The Colony program, creating a television pilot which is now in production. She finished the year as a Fellow of the Native American Feature Film Writers' Lab. Recent credits for Myers include roles on NBC's award-winning series "This Is Us," and "Rutherford Falls."
Current writing projects include two scripts that are in development, a documentary that is in production and one feature in preproduction. London-born character actor Derek Fowlds came to the fore on television as 'Mr. Derek', straight man to the children's puppet Basil Brush (succeeding Rodney Bewes in that capacity), then as private secretary and political advisor Bernard Woolley, diligently keeping the reins on obtuse British Cabinet Minister Jim Hacker (Paul Eddington) in Yes Minister (1980), and, finally, as retired police sergeant -- turned pub proprietor -- Oscar Blaketon during the entire 18-year run of Heartbeat (1992). Having done his national service in the RAF, Fowlds based the Blaketon character on a drill instructor, commenting "I just cut my hair shorter, slicked it back and shouted a lot and Oscar was born."

Thereafter, he popped up in the occasional motion picture but was considerably more prolific on the small screen where he regularly alternated between comedy and drama.
