- Whilst riding his scooter at night, 15 year-old Simon Tambarini is hit head-on by a car. Four years pass - His parents and his brother Vincent attend the wedding of Sandra and William. During the reception Alice arrives, Sandra's sister and Vincent's ex-fiancée, who had left the region several years earlier. An unexpected return that delights the bride, but not everyone is so pleased to see her. Shortly afterwards, as William is looking for his new wife, Alice spots her sister's body lying at the bottom of a cliff. As suicide is rapidly excluded a suspect begins to stand out, Anthony Pasquali, employed in the restaurant run by Claire, Alice and Sandra's mother. Vincent heads the investigation.
- Claire reveals to Alice that Sandra was driving the car that killed Simon. Claire had previously told Alice and Fabio that she was the guilty party, and had asked the latter to cover her. At the police station, William is remanded in custody for Anthony's murder. It's now Blandine who is blackmailing Claire, demanding a huge sum of money in exchange for her silence. On the spot where her sister was murdered, Alice finds a small mother-of-pearl pendant. Later, in the car with her mother, Claire suffers from violent muscle spasms and the vehicle ends up in a ditch.
- Vincent finds Camille's pendant again, so the one Alice picked up near Sandra's body couldn't have been hers. But in a photo, he notices that her mother wearing an identical piece of jewelry. Alice questions William and learns of the party held on the tragic night that cost Simon his life. What happened during the party? Who was there? What had Simon seen and why was he running away?
- In hospital, Alice learns of her mother's illness. She once again becomes close to Vincent, her ex-fiancée. During a walk through a pine grove, Fabio tells Blandine that she shouldn't be blackmailing Claire. She replies with vehemence and, walking backwards, dies when she falls into a hole. Guy confesses to Claire that he killed Anthony, who he had surprised attacking their daughter on the day of her wedding. In turn, Claire confesses Sandra's involvement in Simon's death. Studying the wedding photos, Alice sees the mother-of-pearl pendant around the neck of Camille, Vincent's fiancée.
- Vincent is called to Camille's bedside, her suicide attempt has left her in a coma. Before reporting Blandine's disappearance, Fabio meets up with Claire: they need to agree on the same story to avoid raising suspicions about their arrangement. Vincent recovers the item of jewelry found by Alice and goes through Camille's affairs. He also looks back through the file on his brother's death and finds the statements made by Simon's friends four years earlier. Today their versions have changed: was Simon fleeing something or someone?
