Nicolas Klotz's poetic, poignant and compassionate film was made after three years of conscientious research by himself and scriptwriter Elisabeth Perceval. The result is a determinedly political and beautifully composed work, a convincing portrait of the injustices black immigrants face as they seek to find homes in the West.
