- "All around me" recounts the 70 years of the life of a maritime pine, of a sprouted gable, to its death by sea erosion. Over the seasons and years, the isolated tree sees everything. He witnesses all around him the evolution of the landscape, the movements of the sands, the spectacle of nature, the storms, the erosion and the days of heat wave. It explains the movement of the tides and migratory birds, it details the functioning of ecosystems, the impact of human presence. But he also comments on the spectacle of men, day tourists, locals or regulars, painters, oyster farmers, families on picnics, a group of teenagers in search of romance, inhabitants of the villas that we see at the west. A tribute to the inhabited, fragile, complex, moving nature, All around me celebrates above all the loving relationships of man with landscapes and nature, a philanthropic look on the contrary. The Cap-Ferret peninsula now leads a double life, going from a very popular and busy seaside resort in summer to a place of immense sand movements, in the sandstone of the wind and the tides in the fall. At the end of this peninsula, there is another, that of Mimbeau, a narrow strip of sand planted with a few pines, yuccas and immortelles which encloses a lagoon subject to the tides with a very particular ecosystem. Author-director Patrick Glotin spent two years filming this evolution over the seasons to recount, through the seventy years of the life of a maritime pine, this micro-desert planted between two environments, that of the Bassin d'Arcachon and its oyster beds and this lagoon.
