- The permanent closure of ward 17 heralds the end of an era and generates much uncertainty among the nursing staff.

Only Casey can't attend, due to shrew boss Indi, but patiently waits for raging Tamara to start understanding. Even she approves of his promise to keep an eye on Jett, like Heath and Bianca, when Xavier resumes his police duties. Darryl is surprised when the police informs about Rickie's whereabouts and tells sergeant Mike Emerson nothing.
- Nate has Luc taken to Billie before passing on the news to Leah, VJ and Ash, who gradually accept that nothing can be done. Leah calls Alf and Zac who join them and VJ announces he wants to marry Billie straightaway, with everyone rushing round to help it happen. Kat and Phoebe join them as they exchange vows. Afterwards, Zac tries to comfort Leah but she just rants at him. Billie sends Ash home, then asks VJ to take her and Luc down the beach. Ash returns the next morning to find them gone. The couple watch the sunrise together before Billie dies.

More wedding planning problems, notably Harvey's near-inexistent paranymphs party.
- Called out to a car accident, Ben and Bronwyn are horrified to find one of their own is involved.
- All Saints is thrown into emergency status when an explosion creates chaos and carnage. The disaster becomes personal when the staff realise that Von is missing.
- Tom gets a lead but P.J. is not so sure he can trust him anymore. Tom is after the Baxters and his outlook on 'everything' seems to have changed.
- A major car accident shatters the lives of several Mt Thomas families. Killed in the collision are three teenagers and Tom's wife, Nell, whose car the impaired teenagers collided with. Tom's daughter, Susan, is the lone survivor.
- A different side of Judy Loveday is displayed as she cares for Steve Marsh in hospital. Shirley receives lacklustre support when she decides to run for a vacant council seat - after all, "she's just a woman."
- Desperate to regain father's trust, Casey moves in with Danny, only to suffer verbal and physical abuse in his caravan for 'disloyalty'. Darryl tries to raise the rest of the $50,000 'ransom' in another dug deal with knucklehead Bob Lawson, but abandons him for compounding crazy risks. Dex and April soon see trough selfish Sasha's mean tricks trying to dissuade them from moving out together.
- Heath is almost amused when ignorant Celia scolds him and all River Boys unworthy of Bianca, who looks down only on his tattoos, yet listens up when she apologizes, having heart about Rocko's death, and says a relationship strong enough to survive that is a match made in heaven, so he finally proposes. Jett objects to any protective measure from Gina, who sends him Sasha, whom he tells it's poetic justice for him a former bully to have the tables turned. Spencer stands up to his father Ian Harrington, preferring a complete break with home over separation from Maddy, as Harvey and Roo are prepared to take them in, Alf even gives her a violin.
- While Heath and Kyle plead they should choose to have Tamara liberated, Darryl refuses to chose or trust Adam to keep his word. So while Heath distracts he henchmen, his brothers slip out to search for the kidnapping site, but are noticed. Adam says the deal is off and dumps Tamara, who fainted earlier, apparently lacking medication. Zac proves Holly's deluded crush on him by proving her pornographic creative writing essay to Bianca, but she sticks to procedure, hearing the pupil first. When she corners Zac, he clearly tells her off, so her 'love' turns into hate and she blatantly invents being seduced and kissed by him.
- Equally seriously and comically, Jett is all over startled palmer, ordering him to man up and be the decisive parent the utter rascal needs as much as his requited love. Zac is far from off the hook as the press is on his 'pupil abuse'. Heath is ordered to stay put as second big brother in line while Darryl tries to rescue Ricy alone, but when he finds the lair, Adam shoots his former ward in cold blood to sadistically enjoy his lethal agony.
- Jett is delighted he can spend time o the beach with VJ and Nina, until his mate convinces him to confront her, the only logical suspect, about apparent thefts from the Palmer home, which makes her walk off indignantly without answering. The bank refused a mortgage to the residents quartet, yet hey feel obliged to keep Sally's baseless promise to Pippa that the American therapy is arranged, so they desperately seek to attract a buyer.
- After Heath's wedding, the beach party goes on and on. Casey stays sober and promises to get drunk Maddy home safely. She slips away to make out with a member of the Barrett brothers River Boys gang. Casey gets her out just in time and is rewarded with grateful friendship renewal. Winston arrives to collect his yacht, mildly terrorize Harvey and enjoy spending time with equally elated Marilyn. While Casey drives Maddy home and promises to take the blame for missing her curfew, the Barret knaves catch up to 'teach him a lesson', which gets out of hand.
- While Zac distracts brother Ethan by pretending he wants to make up and join the commune, the Braxtons brothers sneak in to extract grateful Oscar and reluctant twin sister Evelyn 'Evie', even if that requires knocking down senior commune member Murray Granger. Josh enjoys a 'non-'date with Maddy, until he's arrested by the police, whom Alf alerted. Chris pulls all the stops to bond with Irene, who rather invites Indi then be 'spoiled' and admired by him seemingly non-stop.
- By the time of Sid's goodbye party, Dex and April realize neither wants to move. She only admits that to Irene, but Dex is greatly relieved when Sid assures him never to have expected them to join him anyway. Kyle still hopes Casey will see reason in time, but is punched a bloody nose in public just for trying, Tamara would rather leave Summer Bay. Rickie cruelly denies Darryl nursing help after he exhausting gym session, insisting they can't commit as his loyalty to irreconcilable Casey will win out in the end.
- Spencer is so badly beaten that his fugue with Evelyn seems desperate even before Mutrray catches up by car. Luckily restless Oscar's twin-sentiment convinced Zac to come look for them. He can collect Soencer, but hi brother Ethan refuses to let his daughter leave. Kyle and Casey generously make up completely now they need each-other as Darryl is locked up for ten years. When he's finally allowed to receive visitors, heath decides to give Rickie first go privately. Casey wants to get his diploma but shies back when told school regulations require not just sitting the exams but repeating his last year again.
- Connor stands in for Kate on a quiet night on the ward. He and Bron fool around as Jared tries to study, but then things start to go wrong. Meanwhile, Von watches her friend Kate finally succumb to the horrors of alcoholism.
