- The designers create bedrooms for clients based only on a brief written profile, only to be told halfway through the challenge that their clients are children.
- Documentary filmmakers ask local residents of Bedford, Indiana, also known as "The Limestone Capital of the World," what makes their town special. What they discovered was that Bedford was far richer in community and history than just the mining industry that defined their town for nearly a century.
- A teenage boy comes to Aaron's office, begging for him to take the case of his older brother, who is serving time for second degree murder after a plea bargaining agreement. The boy insists his brother is totally innocent, but the lawyer who represented him is a well respected civil rights attorney who has since been appointed a judge. - A man fleeing pursuers crashes into Tony Blake's stage, sending both of them to the hospital. The man wakes up amnesiac and Blake enlists his friends to help the man recover his memory.
- A young widow asks Mike to look into the apparent suicide of her husband, who died in prison. Mike enters the prison to investigate, and discovers evidence that he was actually murdered. A convict that Mike had sent to jail is now the "Head of the Yard", running the other inmates like a mob-boss from inside the prison walls, intent on getting revenge on Longstreet. Mike must use all his wits to solve the murder and stay alive.
- Out scuba diving, Tony Blake rescues a ditzy librarian he met earlier, whose boyfriend tossed her off his yacht with intention to kill. An antique Machiavelli book becomes the pivotal point of Blake's investigation.
- The husband of Tony Blake's clumsy new assistant has been kidnapped and is being forced to help hijack a tanker. Tony infiltrates the tanker to rescue the man and avert the crime before it's too late.
- Mike's good friend is Jim Collins, the starting quarterback for the New Orleans football team. After suffering a terrible accident, Jim finds he may never walk again. Mike suspects the accident involved foul play.

- A grand jury witness, who was to testify against a mobster, is killed by a grenade at the courtroom. Also killed is a friend of Shaft who was at the courtroom to get married. Shaft is determined to catch the hit man, who he briefly saw, and decides to set himself up as a decoy to do so. The killer is also a devoted family man whose wife is catching on to what he really does for a living.
- While arguing with her boyfriend, a woman falls down stairs and dies. The man is coerced into stuffing her body in a trunk and tossing it in a lake. Tony Blake gets involved when bad guys come after his new magic student, the man's son.
- Shaft is hired to prove the innocence of a young man accused of an accidental hit-and-run killing with a stolen car. He finds that the victim was a casino enforcer who was trying to skim off his employer, and that his killing was probably not an accident at all.
