When grateful client Julie asks her to a party given by her film-maker boyfriend John Sara jumps at the chance to impress. After getting involved in a paint-ball day she invites her friend Justine to the party even though Justine has been hypnotised. At the function Sara plays detective to work out the true nature of Julie and John's relationship though she does manage to get Justine out of her trance.
- Sara is preparing to tell her parents and brother Ben that she is gay at a family dinner in a restaurant. In the meantime there is a break-in at the surgery and Colin,the Community Support Officer who comes to investigate,suggests it is an insurance fraud. Furthermore a viper escapes and bites Sara,requiring her to have a penicillin shot which turns her face orange. Arriving at the restaurant she gets two surprises - Colin is the waiter and Eve is at the next table with her fractious girlfriend. Ben is late in arriving but when he does turn up he provides the biggest surprise of all.
- Sian and Violet meet in the shoe shop where Sian works and Violet is so smitten that she engineers several return visits to secure a date. Sara lets her stay for one night before being persuaded to give an awkward and muddled oration at the funeral. At least Jamie,searching for his masculinity,takes Sabine off her hands so a delighted Sara rushes to see Eve. However she is upset when the door is opened to her by a young woman who would seem to be Eve's partner.
- Still hiding from Eve after the door-step encounter Sara has to accommodate veterinary inspector Jonathan Walters whilst Daniel is on leave for a weekend with a dominatrix so Justine stands in for him. After initially impressing him Jonathan realises that she is a fake and Sara fears the worst but when Eve's dog is rushed in for an emergency operation Jonathan and Sara work together to save him and she wins his respect. Sara is also visited by imperious Ivanka Batalova,wife of a Russian oligarch,anxious to get her dog to mate though success is provided accidentally and unwillingly by Jamie.
- Toria invites Sara,along with Justine and Jamie,to her parents',Frances and Humphrey's,ancestral hall to practice coming out to them as a dummy run for her own parents. They are a strange pair who serve road-kill for dinner and,when Sara makes her admission,assume Toria is her lover,Toria being too cowed by them to deny it. That night ghostly voices are heard and when Sara investigates she exposes a family secret. However,after getting drunk and intimate with Justine,Jamie inadvertently finds a way to save the ancestral pile and release Toria from being a dutiful daughter.

In the village she meets John, the kids' surly landlord and his affable younger friend Ben. Mia provides the rent from one of her hits, beating up John when he threatens her and gaining some affection from Ryan, by getting him to stand up to John's son, who has been bullying him at school.
- Mia discovers John's body but dissuades the traumatized Riley from involving the police, instead calling in Eddie, who helps her chop up the body and get rid of it in pieces. Eddie also tells Mia he has two hits for her to take place in the same day. Mia has - fully-clothed - sex with Ben but is annoyed to find evidence that he has been with another woman whilst Riley's pants are found in John's car at much the same time that his head washes ashore .

Mia carries out her first hit but bungles the second. She returns to the farm-house, and tells Claire, who has finally decided to accept her, and the children that they must leave. However Eddie turns up, telling Mia that unless he kills her he will be killed by the people who ordered the hit. He points his gun at Mia but Ryan appears and trains a shotgun on Eddie.

Lance finally gets what he wants but Dean goes through a bizarre role play in which he is kidnapped and treated as a sex slave.

Instead she follows up Janet's hunch and inadvertently puts her friend in danger as Janet comes face to face with the killer who escapes after seriously wounding her with a knife.

She forces John at gunpoint to sell her the farm and he agrees but takes it out on his wife and on Riley, whom he demands has an abortion when she announces her pregnancy. Mia and Ben start dating but she carries out another hit - successfully - though she is hit by a car and taken to hospital, from where she escapes. In her weakened state she is taken home by Ben and decides to tell him her true situation. He is initially repulsed but eventually reconciles with her.
