- When Bharati's brother is killed, the love of her life, Raja, helps her to get to the bottom of the mystery and they stumble upon a big conspiracy involving powerful people.
- Shanti belongs to a poor family, and lives in small dwelling with three sons, Amar, Ashok, and Vinod, and two daughters, Sheela and Shobha. - Rai Bahadur is a wealthy man who lives in a palatial home with his grand-daughter, Pinky, and grandson, Raju. One night Raju gets abducted and is sold to notorious and hideous-looking gangster Ustad, who forces crippled children to beg and steal for him. Raju also gets inducted in this gang, and is taught to steal at a very young age. Years later, Pinky recognizes Raju as her brother and takes him home to grandpa, who accepts him immediately and provides for him with joy. Then a few days later some silver items are stolen from his house, and Raju is missing. Rai Bahadur is shocked and reports this matter to the police, and continues his search for his missing grandson. Is Raju really his grandson? Did he actually steal the silver items?
- Ram Kapoor comes from a poor family, while Kiran comes from a middle-class family. Ram and his brother, Shyam, commit petty thievery to sustain themselves. Ram meets Kiran and both fall in love and would like to get married. Kiran's dad is Police Inspector, Vijay Kumar, and does not approve of either Ram nor this marriage. Despite of this opposition, Kiran and Ram get married. After sometime, Kiran gets pregnant, and her mother, Madhu, comes to look after her. A gangster, Shakti, abducts both mother and daughter, and holds them for ransom. Vijay thinks that Ram and Shyam are behind this abduction so to get money from him, and launches a manhunt for them. Shyam is apprehended, while Ram is on the run. Ram must decide to hand himself over to the police, and let his wife and her mother be at the mercy of Shakti or continue to evade the police and search for Kiran and Madhu.

The character played by Arpana Choudhary is a poor girl who gets run over by an old rich widower played by Madan Puri. feeling sympathy and then love for the poor girl, he then marries her. However she does not enjoy her marriage and flirts with others. When her husband eventually finds out about her betrayal he does not leave any of his property for his wife. When she finds this out she hatches a plan to kill her husband and pass the blame of the murder on someone else.

Angered, he quits his job and takes to crime, and soon becomes the top lieutenant of a don named Sher Khan. Patil still nurses considerable anger at the police, and he seizes his chance to abduct the Police Commissioner's (Ashraf Khan) only daughter and thus avenge the death of his child and wife. For Sher Khan this is like killing two birds with one stone, as he will not only get his vengeance against Ashraf, but also force him to get his only daughter, Farheen, to marry his brother, Salim. The question is will Ashraf let Patil and Sher Khan to get the upper hand, or does he have a surprise tucked away as his ace against them?
- Ailing multi-millionaire Pratap's mom gets him to promise that he will marry the first woman he sees the next morning, to which he agrees. The first woman he sees is Reena who comes from a poor family. Pratap proposes to her dad, and introduces Reena to his mom. The marriage is celebrated with great pomp and ceremony. Years later a son, Shyam, is born to them. When Shyam grows up he attends college and falls in love with fellow-collegian, Babli. When Pratap finds out that his son is in love, he meets and accepts Babli as his daughter-in-law right away. The only problem is Babli's brother, Dhamu Dada, who hates all millionaires, and is all set to oppose this marriage - tooth and nail.
- Indu lives a middle-class life with her widower dad. She attends college, meets Raj, and and they fall in love with each other. Raj follows Indu everywhere, including a picnic, to the chagrin of her professor, but Indu shuns her and sings and dances with Raj, then they take off on his motorbike. Some goons attempt to molest Indu, a scuffle ensues, she is abducted and subsequently thrown down a cliff, and the car with the molesters in it explodes. Thinking that Indu is dead, Raj loses his mind and is institutionalized in C.T. Mental Hospital under the care of Dr. Ram Kumar Verma. When Raj gets better, he is discharged, finds out that Indu is still alive, and goes to meet her and attempts to get intimate with her. It is then her husband, none other than Dr. Verma himself walks in, sees them together, and decides to kill them. He succeeds in killing Raj, but before he can kill Indu, he is arrested and institutionalized in the very same hospital where he works. One day he breaks out to finish his one and only mission: to kill Indu at all costs.
- Advocate Anjali had been betrayed in love, and as a result has become an embittered woman, hating all men. She is assigned as a public prosecutor to ensure that accused, Rajesh Srivastav, gets hanged for homicide. She succeeds, but in order to teach Rajesh a lesson. Thereafter he will have to marry her, and spend the rest of his life following her instructions until she fulfils the conditions of her parents' will and inherit a vast estate and fortune. Rajesh has no choice but to agree. The marriage takes place, and Rajesh starts showing his true colours, getting drunk and abusive. Then Rajesh's advocate Malhotra finds out fresh evidence that Rajesh may not have committed the murder after all. How will this information affect Anjali and her conditions she has imposed upon Rajesh?

Finally, she approaches Jagannath and tells him that Nandu is actually his biological son. After listening to her story, Jagannath believes her and accompanies her to the Police Station to bail Nandu out. The next day Jagannath comes to take Nandu to live with him in his palatial bungalow, and Deviyani, Vijay and Bhola bid him a tearful farewell. After settling down in his new surroundings, Nandu starts getting arrogant, and selfish, especially toward Vijay. Vijay and he break into fisticuffs, and Nandu warns Vijay not to set foot in his house. When Jagannath finds out, he tries to get Nandu to change his arrogant ways, to no avail. On the contrary Nandu threatens to kill him if he ever speaks in that tone of voice with him. The next night, Jaganath is shot dead. The police begin questioning everyone involved, and the obvious suspect is Nandu. It is then Deviyani tells Vijay and Bhola that Nandu is not really Jagannath's son, but her very own flesh and blood. Both Vijay and Bhola's world will never be the same after Deviyani tells them who the real son of Jaganath is, and who may have responsible for killing Jagannath.
- Justice M.K. Roy is a traditional and orthodox gentleman, who is unable to understand nor appreciate the carelessness of today's youth. He has brought up his daughter, Shobha, with these same traditions, and he hopes to get her married in a good household. Ramesh does get a job with a textile mill, and gets a bonus payment, which is to be presented to him in an open ceremony, presided over by Justice Roy. When the bonus payment is being handed over to Ramesh, a woman comes forward and claims that Ramesh is her husband, who had abandoned her soon after their marriage.
- Widowed Judge Kedarnath Sinha lives a comfortable life with two sons, CBI Inspector Vijay and college student Sonu. Vijay is aware of the terrible tragedy that marked his 5th-birthday celebration: the party was interrupted by vengeful escaped convict Billa, who killed DCP Ravi Khanna, cut off Kedarnath's right hand, and abducted and brutally assaulted and raped Sharda Khanna. Sonu doesn't come to know about this until well after his 25th birthday, when Kedarnath tells him that he is Sharda's and Billa's son. Shocked and devastated, Sonu accepts this reality and leaves the Sinha household. Shortly thereafter, he is wanted by the Police for helping dreaded killer Kaalia escape from prison. What Kedarnath and Vijay do not know is that Sonu helped Kaalia in order to reach Billa, but instead meets with Dagha, becomes his hit-man, and accepts a contract to kill Dagha's former associate Shakaal and retrieve a videotape titled "Marte Dam Tak". What is recorded in that video-tape is not that film, but something that will change Sonu's life forever and make him an enemy of the law, with Vijay hot on his trail.

Pawan sets forth to get his nephew, with the help of MGM, and meets a host of less-than-fortunate people. His attitude does not get him anywhere with Dilruba and he is forced to assume another identity, that of Aashiq, to try and get his nephew home. He does succeed in pulling wool over Dilruba's eyes and both eventually fall in love with each other - little knowing that his dad has already planned his marriage with wealthy Meenakshi and if he refuses he may suffer the same fate as Amar.
- Orphaned at an early age, Vidya, her brother, Raja, live a poor lifestyle with their maternal uncle. While the uncle is out of town, the responsibility of looking after the household is on Vidya's shoulders. Raja takes to petty crime, and runs away from home. Vidya takes on the job of a maid-servant in the house of a wealthy family. While attending to her chores, the wealthy family's alcoholic son, Anand, molests her, and wants to be intimate. After a struggle Vidya is able to shake him off and run away - out from the house - into the street, where she is hit by a speeding vehicle. She is taken to hospital by the owner of the vehicle, Advocate Sunil Kapoor, where she finds out that she has lost her vision. Traumatized with the accident, unable to see, and locate her missing brother, Vidya is devastated, There is no visible sign of anybody coming to assist her. Will Vidya and Raja ever meet again? What has happened to Raja?

Fearing that he may have been involved in an accident, she contacts him and finds out that he was out with another woman, a woman named Laila.
- Educated, traveled, intelligent, wealthy, and a businesswomen Mala Mathur would like to marry a man who can look after the household duties while she works. Her uncle, Mr. Mathur, ridicules this idea, and tells her that she will never find any husband in this manner. Mala advertises in the newspapers, and gets tons of responses. She decides on marrying a young man by the name of Shekar Sinha, who is poor, unemployed, and willing to commit himself to household duties. Before the marriage, Shekar is asked to sign an agreement, which he does. And thus begins the marriage, which is not really a marriage, but an employment contract, which is terminable after one year. The question is will Shekar be able to survive for one year - especially when he does not know how to cook meals for his wealthy "wife".
- Lucknow-based Nawabzada Aslam lives a wealthy lifestyle along with his dad, Bakar, and mom. He writes poems under the pen name of Raj Lakhnavi, and is a close friend of Iqbal. One day he meets and falls in love with Salma Banarsi, a Banaras-based Courtesan. When his parents arrange his marriage with his foreign-returned cousin, Mumtaz, he informs them that he loves Salma and incurs their displeasure so much so that his dad shoots him, and he gets hospitalized. When he recovers fully he is shocked to find that Salma has not only accepted Iqbal as her lover, but has also taken a lot of money and jewelry from his mother. He takes to alcohol in a big way and swears to exact vengeance against Salma by getting married to Mumtaz and forcing Salma to sing and dance at his wedding.
- Inspector Mahendra Nath lives a middle-classed lifestyle in Bombay along with his wife, and son, Vijay. He is honest and diligent which brings him in the bad books of Davar, who initially tries to kill Vijay, but Vijay ends up being rescued by a honest truck-driver, Shambhu. When Mahendra goes to avenge this attempted killing, he himself is shot dead. Vijay swears to avenge his father's death by attempting to reform criminals and as a result is hired as a Deputy Jailor. Shortly thereafter Vijay is shocked to find Shambhu an inmate of this jail. While Shambhu makes it clear that no jail can hold him too long, Vijay accepts this challenge and swears that he will capture and bring back Shambhu at any and all costs, and also promises to investigate the reasons behind Shambhu's crime and subsequent conviction.

A shocked Amar must now find out why his sweetheart chose to marry a wealthy man, and it is here he will find out that his falling in the river was not an accident but he was the victim of a conspiracy against him.

When Sumer approaches him, he denies being or ever knowing anyone by the name of Girdharilal. Sumer then decides to expose him, little knowing that he is putting his life, as well as the lives of his mom and sister in danger.

An angry Tom confronts Dinesh, setting of a train of events when the principals are forced to confront the truth of events leading up to the death of Vijay.

Shortly before their marriage, Pakistan declares war and attacks India, and Ajay and all other soldiers are recalled to duty. Ajay meets with an old friend, Sunil, on the warfront. During a quiet break they talk about life at home, and Ajay's forthcoming marriage. Then Sunil is wounded, and brought in the barracks. Ajay goes through his belongings, and gets a shock when he sees Sheetal's photograph in Sunil's wallet.

What Shankar does not know is that his friendship with Suraj will be short-lived: Suraj is the biological son of his enemy Zorawar, and Padmini is his wife.
