- Dr Sunil Gupta, a gynecologist and Dr. Hira are partners in Prakash Nursing Home. Sunil treats his profession as an earning job unlike his father, who landed up in debt because of treating free the poor patients. Sunils' girlfriend Yashoda too is a doctor working in a government hospital treating the profession as a service. A patient being treated by Dr Hira dies due to his negligence but he saves his skin by firing the nurse. While operating on a minister's pregnant daughter-in-law, Manjula, Sunil is faced with a choice of saving either the mother or child. He opts for the former. The minister, Raosaheb, holds Sunil responsible for the child's death and lodges a complaint with the medical council. Dr Hira too sides with him against Sunil, getting him suspended. Sunil, in the meanwhile, comes to know about the truth of Hira's patient's death from the absconding nurse. Armed with the evidence he files a case in the court and wins. Chastened Sunil decides to follow in his father's footsteps.
- Shanti belongs to a poor family, and lives in small dwelling with three sons, Amar, Ashok, and Vinod, and two daughters, Sheela and Shobha. But when Shanti finds out, she asks Amar not to go abroad, but stay in India, even if it means canceling Sheela's marriage. How will this resolve Shanti's family's problems? Will Sheela ever get married?
- Two children, Samson and Reshma Singh, grow up in Central India, and would like to remain together forever. However, Reshma's uncle, Mangha, has other plans for her, he assaults Samson, takes Reshma with him to the city. Years later, Samson and Reshma have both grown up, and live nearby, but are unaware of each other. Samson has already pledged his love for a young woman named Juliet, while Reshma is expected to marry Mangha's son, Sangha. Both plan a devious scheme to not only separate the two lovers, but also kill Samson in the process.

Vijay unexpectedly returns home gets into a scuffle with Dinesh and dies, while Tom D'Costa (Vinod Mehra) his secretary is crippled. Raja grows up pretty much without both parents; becomes a successful entertainer. Meeting Renu (Shilpa Shirodkar)leads to mutual love . Laxmi approves the relationship. When Laxmi comes to know that Renu is Dinesh's daughter she forbids her son Raja from having anything to do with Renu. Dinesh forbids Renu from meeting Raju when he finds out that Raja is Laxmi's son. He wants her to marry a man of his choice. An angry Tom confronts Dinesh, setting of a train of events when the principals are forced to confront the truth of events leading up to the death of Vijay.

- Kaaliya Patil is a laborer in a mill in a small town in India. The region experiences riots and as a result there is considerable violence. Patil still nurses considerable anger at the police, and he seizes his chance to abduct the Police Commissioner's (Ashraf Khan) only daughter and thus avenge the death of his child and wife. For Sher Khan this is like killing two birds with one stone, as he will not only get his vengeance against Ashraf, but also force him to get his only daughter, Farheen, to marry his brother, Salim. The question is will Ashraf let Patil and Sher Khan to get the upper hand, or does he have a surprise tucked away as his ace against them?
- Science College Principal Tripathi is critized by the college professors during a meeting due to his younger brother, Ajay, failing twice and losing two years. Tripathi is angry with Ajay and wants him to drop poetry and poems and concentrate on his studies. Ajay does not do so, and instead leaves the house, telling his brother that he will establish himself as a poet and then return home. He submits his poems for publication, and is told that there is something lacking in them. He meets with an falls in love with beautiful Nikita, who is only daughter of a wealthy industrialist. Ajay wants to establish himself before he gets married, and relocates to Bombay. Once there, he gets involved with a Bollywood actress, Jyoti, and takes to gambling and drinking. His submitted poems are stolen by a couple of shady men, who rake in a lot of money, leaving Ajay with a mere pittance. Nikita goes to Bombay and finds Ajay, a wasted young man, very different from the one she had seen earlier. Together they must try and put his life together, so that he can keep his promise to his brother.
- Lotiram Khabadia is an MLA based in Bombay, who is corrupt, and involved in all kinds of criminal activities. He has close links with another gangster cum wrestler, Tamancha. As elections are coming close, Lotiram and Tamancha start canvasing for themselves, to retain power. Their competitor is an eunuch by the name of Chayavati. The people pronounce their verdict, and Chayavati is elected. Lotiram is devastated, no one really pays attention to him anymore, even Tamancha will have nothing to do with him. Upset at the humiliation at the hands of Tamancha, Lotiram seeks the help of a former municipal employee, Yeshwant, and becomes a witness for the prosecution, so as to enable them to lay charges against Tamancha. Corrupt elements within the police alert Tamancha, who is enraged at Lotiram, and will do anything to stop him from testifying against him.
- Story of two friends Iqbal Jah and Nawab-Ud-Dowla. To strengthen their friendship, Iqbal Jah had arranged the marriage of his only daughter Hina with Aftab, the son of Nawab-Ud-Dowla. - Widowed Judge Kedarnath Sinha lives a comfortable life with two sons, CBI Inspector Vijay and college student Sonu. Vijay is aware of the terrible tragedy that marked his 5th-birthday celebration: the party was interrupted by vengeful escaped convict Billa, who killed DCP Ravi Khanna, cut off Kedarnath's right hand, and abducted and brutally assaulted and raped Sharda Khanna. Sonu doesn't come to know about this until well after his 25th birthday, when Kedarnath tells him that he is Sharda's and Billa's son. Shocked and devastated, Sonu accepts this reality and leaves the Sinha household. Shortly thereafter, he is wanted by the Police for helping dreaded killer Kaalia escape from prison. What Kedarnath and Vijay do not know is that Sonu helped Kaalia in order to reach Billa, but instead meets with Dagha, becomes his hit-man, and accepts a contract to kill Dagha's former associate Shakaal and retrieve a videotape titled "Marte Dam Tak". What is recorded in that video-tape is not that film, but something that will change Sonu's life forever and make him an enemy of the law, with Vijay hot on his trail.
- Maharaj Chatrapal Singh and his wife the Maharani are delighted when they become proud parents of a son - the heir to the thrown of Ramgad. Their delight is short-lived when the Palace Astrologer predicts that Chatrapal will be the last of the Maharajas for Ramgad, and no throne is destined for his son, Raju. Perturbed at this news, Chatrapal decides to protect Raju from the world, and makes him lead a secluded life within the four walls of the palace and it's surrounding grounds. Years later, Raju has grown up and his has arranged his marriage with a young woman of noble parentage. Raju is unhappy with this decision, and decides to run away with his bodyguard, Gulshan. They end up in Bombay city, where Raju starts to work as a waiter in a restaurant. He meets with and falls in love with a dancer and singer, Anita Sethi, who is the daughter of a wealthy man. Her father would like her to marry Jimmy Narang, son of the wealthy Mr. Narang, but Anita too falls in love with Raju. When JImmy finds out that Raju is a heir-apparent to Ramgad's throne, he tells Anita, who is angry with Raju for suppressing this information from her. Narang also informs Chatrapal, who sets off with an army, to bring Raju back to marry the woman he has chosen for him. Raju now has to make a choice - stay and be captured by his father's men; or run away elsewhere.

Sunita finds out that she has virtually no respect, is ill-treated, belittled, and slapped around, just because Ramdas was unable to pay the entire dowry sum. Her brother attempts to help, and attempts to secure some money to appease Sunita's mother-in-law, Kanta, but not only is he unsuccessful, but also gets killed in the process. Lily confides in Sunita that Kanta is quite capable of feeding her poison and killing her, as she had done to Prem's first wife. Now Sunita is at the mercy of the Saxena family, and the only way she can get rid of her problems is by killing herself.

- Kundecha is a wealthy industrialist and the owner of around 40 branches of Kundecha Coop. Bank Ltd. He has booked all the lockers in all his bank's branches and lets no member of the public rent them. If anyone opposes his policy, he reduces them to ashes through one of his gizmos. One day he comes to a branch run by Mr. Chiklia to empty some of his lockers. Mr. Chiklia is not available, but pretty bank employee Sandhya Mathur is. She immediately recognizes Kundecha and follows his instructions. Kundecha is fascinated by her beauty, and in his haste to depart, he leaves a package behind. Sandhya picks it up and takes it home, only to have a rat gnaw through it and die. Her husband Prakash recognizes that it's cocaine and reports it to the police. The next day the police officer disappears; Kundecha would like Sandhya to have sex with him--if not, her family will be killed. Faced with these dire prospects, Prakash, Sandhya, their daughter Munni, and Prakash's unmarried brother must decide what's best for the family.

Shortly thereafter the couple pass away, leaving their son, with Jyoti's sister, Dilruba. Thakur decides to forgive his late son and asks Pawan to go and bring his grandson home. Pawan sets forth to get his nephew, with the help of MGM, and meets a host of less-than-fortunate people. His attitude does not get him anywhere with Dilruba and he is forced to assume another identity, that of Aashiq, to try and get his nephew home. He does succeed in pulling wool over Dilruba's eyes and both eventually fall in love with each other - little knowing that his dad has already planned his marriage with wealthy Meenakshi and if he refuses he may suffer the same fate as Amar.

Things are going well with Sharda, until one day when Pinky goes missing. Sharda hectically attempts to locate Pinky, but in vain. Then the police arrive to arrest Sharda on the charge of kidnapping Pinky and possibly killing her. The police indicate that they can prove that Sharda did indeed kidnap Pinky as she has a motive of continuing to live with Prakash as his mistress and wanted Pinky out of the way. The question remains did Sharda really have Pinky kidnapped and killed? If so, what effect is this going to have on her relationship with Prakash?

Fearing that he may have been involved in an accident, she contacts him and finds out that he was out with another woman, a woman named Laila.

- Jageera Singh has always lived a life of crime, drinking alcohol, and frequenting brothels, although he is married to pregnant Laxmi and has a son named Vikram. When Police Inspector Vikram's diligence causes problems for Bhanupratap, Jageera offers to kill Vikram, especially when Bhanupratap's niece Priya falls in love and wants to marry Vikram. At this point the past revisits Jageera and he comes face-to-face with his past wrong actions and the devastation that he has inflicted on his family.

Shortly thereafter Vijay is shocked to find Shambhu an inmate of this jail. While Shambhu makes it clear that no jail can hold him too long, Vijay accepts this challenge and swears that he will capture and bring back Shambhu at any and all costs, and also promises to investigate the reasons behind Shambhu's crime and subsequent conviction.

- Advocate Durga Prasad was to have received a file from Chote Thakur with regard to a case pending in a Court in Bangalore, India. However, Chote gets killed, he does not receive the file and the Court's decision goes against him. Then he is approached by a former Government Employee, an Inquiry Officer, who claims that he was wrongly dismissed and framed by corrupt Government Officials. Durga Prasad, along with his juniors, Ashok, Ravi and one other, decide to handle his case, however, before even the case could be filed, the Inquiry Officer is killed. An angered Durga is determined to take this matter to Court, but before that could happen, he and his wife, Laxmi, are killed in broad daylight right outside the Courthouse. His Junior, Ashok, promises to avenge their killings and sets about to locate their killers. He finds out that all of them work for Vidhya Sagar, and he goes about killing them one by one. Then the DIG of Police, Jagdish Chaudhary, assigns Police Inspector Vijayalaxmi to apprehend Ashok, not knowing that Vijaya and Ashok are in love with each other. She questions Ashok, but he provides her an alibi for each and every occurrence. But when the Mayor of Bangalore is killed, she catches Ashok red-handed, leaving open the question whether Ashok will be ready to provide an alibi for this death or merely claim that he did not do it. The question remains, if Ashok did not kill the Mayor, then who did?
- A rich and wealthy couple, Shankarlal and Parvati (Sanjeev Kumar & Raakhee) are appalled at the problems of the world, especially in households, so they decide to try and make things right - one household at a time. They first go the household of alcoholic Rajesh (Rakesh Roshan); his domineering mom (Lalita Pawar); and uneducated wife, Veena (Deepti Naval). Their second task takes them to the household of Vishwanath Gupta(A.K. Hangal); his son, Madhu (Amol Palekar) who has taken to drinking; and his attractive, outgoing, and wealthy wife, Aruna (Sarika). The couple go to work on these families to turn them around and improve and better their relations with each other.
