- Underworld gangster and respectable businessman Chandolha's plans to build several illegal structures in Bombay city are foiled by a honest and diligent Municipal Commission Omkar Manav, who only weakness appears to be an uncontrollable temper. Taking advantage of this, Chandolha's Advocate, Bhujang Rao, implicates him in a false police complaint, and has him committed to a mental hospital. Once in the hospital, Omkar is given several shock treatments, which turn him into a vegetable. But Omkar recovers, and with the help of his girlfriend, Kiran Joshi, and inmates Subedar Bhuta Singh, Dr. Daniel, Pandit Radheyshyam Tiwari, and Poet Bekhabar Badnam, begins to plot to entrap and possibly kill the persons who were responsible for his present plight. But how will an inmate escape with other inmates and actually carry out this mammoth task?

But when Shanti finds out, she asks Amar not to go abroad, but stay in India, even if it means canceling Sheela's marriage. How will this resolve Shanti's family's problems? Will Sheela ever get married?
- Kindly Dr. Gupta (Ashok Kumar) is preparing to retire, and hopes to marry his daughter Jyoti (Zarina Wahab) to his associate Dr. Anand (Parikshit Sahani). Anand does not have time to romance, or assist Dr. Gupta on his large egg farm, so he hires a college friend as property manager, Mukesh (Vijayendra). Jyoti is entranced by Mukesh, and against her fathers wishes decides to marry him. Mukesh has his eyes set on the good life, but unknown to Jyoti he is already married to Geeta (Sarika), whom he abandoned with a child when he found out she was Anpadh (illiterate). Dr. Gupta has an accident one night, injuring a woman named Geeta and brings her home to recuperate. He teaches her how to mingle with high society, dress and eat properly, and ensures the education of her son. In return for his decency and compassion, Jyoti prepares to marry Dr. Gupta. When her father arrives for the festivities, he recognizes Mukesh.
- Inder Sen Johar's much publicized comic look at the forcible sterilization program carried out under the orders of former Indian Prime Minsiter, Indira Gandhi, and her son, Sanjay Gandhi, during the dark days of Emergency. Johar comically portrays this story, which was censored and banned for several years by the Government of India, and stars duplicates of many popular Bollywood stars, including Anitav Bachchan. Songs (which continue to be banned by the Indian Government) are hilarious too: "Kiski chali hai kahe gaye baat ye pyare Jhulelalan, jaan bachao, kher manoa, lagega sub ka number, dhama dham mast kalandhar, aaj hai koi baher to kal woh hoga andhar..."; "Prabhuji de do ik santann...."; "Kya mil gaya Bhagwan, Emergency lagake nasbandi karake hamari chuthi karake, nasbandi karake hamari bansi bajake...".
- Kundecha is a wealthy industrialist and the owner of around 40 branches of Kundecha Coop. Bank Ltd. He has booked all the lockers in all his bank's branches and lets no member of the public rent them. If anyone opposes his policy, he reduces them to ashes through one of his gizmos. One day he comes to a branch run by Mr. Chiklia to empty some of his lockers. Mr. Chiklia is not available, but pretty bank employee Sandhya Mathur is. She immediately recognizes Kundecha and follows his instructions. Kundecha is fascinated by her beauty, and in his haste to depart, he leaves a package behind. Sandhya picks it up and takes it home, only to have a rat gnaw through it and die. Her husband Prakash recognizes that it's cocaine and reports it to the police. The next day the police officer disappears; Kundecha would like Sandhya to have sex with him--if not, her family will be killed. Faced with these dire prospects, Prakash, Sandhya, their daughter Munni, and Prakash's unmarried brother must decide what's best for the family.
- Two children, Samson and Reshma Singh, grow up in Central India, and would like to remain together forever. Who is the stranger? Can he stop the wicked Bihari? Was Deepak's death accident or cold blooded murder?

The only problem is Babli's brother, Dhamu Dada, who hates all millionaires, and is all set to oppose this marriage - tooth and nail.
- Indu lives a middle-class life with her widower dad. She attends college, meets Raj, and and they fall in love with each other. Raj follows Indu everywhere, including a picnic, to the chagrin of her professor, but Indu shuns her and sings and dances with Raj, then they take off on his motorbike. Some goons attempt to molest Indu, a scuffle ensues, she is abducted and subsequently thrown down a cliff, and the car with the molesters in it explodes. Thinking that Indu is dead, Raj loses his mind and is institutionalized in C.T. Mental Hospital under the care of Dr. Ram Kumar Verma. When Raj gets better, he is discharged, finds out that Indu is still alive, and goes to meet her and attempts to get intimate with her. It is then her husband, none other than Dr. Verma himself walks in, sees them together, and decides to kill them. He succeeds in killing Raj, but before he can kill Indu, he is arrested and institutionalized in the very same hospital where he works. One day he breaks out to finish his one and only mission: to kill Indu at all costs.
- Advocate Anjali had been betrayed in love, and as a result has become an embittered woman, hating all men. She is assigned as a public prosecutor to ensure that accused, Rajesh Srivastav, gets hanged for homicide. She succeeds, but in order to teach Rajesh a lesson. Then Rajesh's advocate Malhotra finds out fresh evidence that Rajesh may not have committed the murder after all. How will this information affect Anjali and her conditions she has imposed upon Rajesh?
- Ramdas, his wife, Savitri, son, Prakash, and daughter, Sunita, live a lower middle-class existence in Bombay. They would like to get Sunita get married, and soon receive a proposal through Champabai for her to be married to Prem Kumar Saxena. They find the proposal suitable and Sunita gets married to Prem, and moves into his house. Prem lives with his possessive mother, Kantadevi; his elder crippled brother, Surender; and a younger unmarried brother, Bittoo, who is having an affair with their maid-servant, Lily D'Souza. Sunita finds out that she has virtually no respect, is ill-treated, belittled, and slapped around, just because Ramdas was unable to pay the entire dowry sum. Her brother attempts to help, and attempts to secure some money to appease Sunita's mother-in-law, Kanta, but not only is he unsuccessful, but also gets killed in the process. Lily confides in Sunita that Kanta is quite capable of feeding her poison and killing her, as she had done to Prem's first wife. Now Sunita is at the mercy of the Saxena family, and the only way she can get rid of her problems is by killing herself.
- Science College Principal Tripathi is critized by the college professors during a meeting due to his younger brother, Ajay, failing twice and losing two years. Tripathi is angry with Ajay and wants him to drop poetry and poems and concentrate on his studies. Ajay does not do so, and instead leaves the house, telling his brother that he will establish himself as a poet and then return home. He submits his poems for publication, and is told that there is something lacking in them. He meets with an falls in love with beautiful Nikita, who is only daughter of a wealthy industrialist. Ajay wants to establish himself before he gets married, and relocates to Bombay. Once there, he gets involved with a Bollywood actress, Jyoti, and takes to gambling and drinking. His submitted poems are stolen by a couple of shady men, who rake in a lot of money, leaving Ajay with a mere pittance. Nikita goes to Bombay and finds Ajay, a wasted young man, very different from the one she had seen earlier. Together they must try and put his life together, so that he can keep his promise to his brother.
- Womazing and alcoholic Rajiv Tandon lives a wealthy lifestyle with his widowed industrialist dad, Shankardayal in a palatial house. When his dad unexpectedly passes away, he wills that all his wealth and money will only be inherited by Rajiv after he gets birth to a son within 18 months of his passing. Rajiv is not interested in marriage, nor in any permanent relationship with any woman, and is prepared to re-distribute his dad's wealth amongst their relatives. When he takes note of their greed, he decides to give birth to a heir as per his dad's wishes. The only problem is that he does not want to marry but just have a sexual relationship with a woman, who must give birth to a child, and then leave his life forever. After a long search he comes across Aarti Saxena, who he would like to have his child with. She refuses initially, but when financial crisis threaten her, she agrees to this relationship. Rajiv accepts, even though Aarti's profession is that of a call-girl and escort. He arranges for her in live in comfort, has a car and servants for her disposal. Soon she gets pregnant. Shortly before giving birth, she writes to Rajiv, breaking off their understanding, and leaving for an unknown destination. The question is, with her gone, so is the avenue to Rajiv's inheritance, and the easy and selfish life he has been accustomed to.

Traumatized with the accident, unable to see, and locate her missing brother, Vidya is devastated, There is no visible sign of anybody coming to assist her. Will Vidya and Raja ever meet again? What has happened to Raja?
- Priya Verma is a beautiful young woman who studies in N.M. College in Bombay. One day some fellow collegians on motorcycles surround her and start to molest her, until Ravi comes to her rescue. Both of them fall in love and would like to marry each other. To her horror, Priya finds out that Sridhar has chosen Vishal not because he approves of him, but has a devious plan to avenge the death of his governess Kalavati Verma at the hands of Chandrachur. The question is will Priya be the right person to help Sridhar avenge Kalavati's death?

- After the passing away of his wife, Sudha, widower Rajat Sharma looks after their only child, Munna, as well as his younger college-going brother, Kundan. When Rajat finds a diamond in his apartment, he starts to suspect Roopa, when she lands, he searches her and finds diamonds in two dolls. The question remains, what will Rajat do now - turn a nelson's eye or turn in his sweetheart to the authorities - unknowingly opening a Pandora's box that may well result in the arrest of Gupta, Dinesh, and Kundan as well.

One day he meets and falls in love with Salma Banarsi, a Banaras-based Courtesan. When his parents arrange his marriage with his foreign-returned cousin, Mumtaz, he informs them that he loves Salma and incurs their displeasure so much so that his dad shoots him, and he gets hospitalized. When he recovers fully he is shocked to find that Salma has not only accepted Iqbal as her lover, but has also taken a lot of money and jewelry from his mother. He takes to alcohol in a big way and swears to exact vengeance against Salma by getting married to Mumtaz and forcing Salma to sing and dance at his wedding.
- Amar lives a poor lifestyle with his widowed mom in India, he is unemployed, does not make enough effort to find a job, and spends most of his time with his sweetheart, Rinku Dayal. When his mom finds out that he has been writing love letters, she asks him to introduce his girlfriend, which he does. She approves of Rinku and would like both of them to get married, she also warns Rinku that Amar is fated to die under water and must keep away from all lakes, rivers, and swimming pools at all costs, as he cannot swim. Then a few days later, Amar accidentally falls down in a river, is swept through a waterfall and is believed to be dead. His shocked and devastated mom loses her sanity, and keeps on hoping that Amar will return one day. Then six months later, Amar does return home to his overjoyed mom, and is anxious to go to Rinku and tell her the good news. It is then his mom informs him that Rinku has married Ajit Verma, her dad's boss, shortly after she found out that Amar had drowned. A shocked Amar must now find out why his sweetheart chose to marry a wealthy man, and it is here he will find out that his falling in the river was not an accident but he was the victim of a conspiracy against him.
- Based on the ill-fated love story of Laila and Majnu, this version shows them as inseparable childhood sweethearts, and subsequently as each others lovers. They want to get married, but as their fathers' (Emir E Basra, and Emir E Yemen respectively) are sworn enemies of each other, they are not permitted to see other, leave alone get married. Separated from each other, they long and pine for each other. Kais (Majnu's real name) has forsaken everything and roams the streets with a beggars bowl, looking all over for his Laila. He finds her and their romance is rekindled. The authorities find Kais' longing for Laila unusual as he values her love above that of Allah, he is declared insane, and people are encouraged to stone him to death. He survives and Kais' dad and mom fall at the feet of Laila's dad and beg him to permit this marriage = he reluctantly agrees - on the condition that Kais undergo a test to prove that he is not insane. Kais fails in the test, and Laila's marriage is arranged with Shehzada Ingne Salaam, who has offered Emir E Basra enough wealth to last them for centuries and generations to come. Will Laila give her consent for this marriage? What will Kais do under these circumstances?
- Ajay and Birju are brothers. Birju encourages his brother, who loves cricket, to become a professional, and he does so. - A poor widowed farmer, Dharma Singh, raises two children, a boy (Karan) and a girl (Geeta) on his own in a town called Rampur, and would like his son to grow up to be a police officer. Alas, that was not to be so, for heavy torrential rains strikes their region, separating the entire family, leaving Dharma wounded, and the two children ending up in a town called Sitapur. Geeta decides to work so that her brother can study. Her brother re-locates to Bombay city, and subsequently studies well, and becomes a Police Inspector. He is assigned his first major assignment to get rid of bandits near Sitapur, which he accepts, little knowing that the very people he is expected to get rid of are his very own sister, who is now a former jailbird, a notorious bandit who calls herself "Maut", and at odds with another bandit known as Daku Dharma Singh, who is none other than her father. Will Karan be able to fulfill his duties or will he end up joining his family in a life of crime.
- Ravi and Vijay's friendship was an example by itself. One was Life-Jaan, the other Jigar-Courage, the famous singer Ravi Kumar and the daring Vijay Kumar. Vijay's mother looked after Ravi since his childhood; as such Ravi's life is indebted to them. It was said that nobody could separate the two friends. - Police Inspector Krishan Kumar lives a middle class life with his lovely wife, Suman. Weeks pass by and Rajan does not return. Then Ragini finds out that her jewelery is missing. A visit to the bank shows that her bank account has been cleaned out, and all her investments cashed. Rajan's co-workers and Manager have filed a police complaint against him for embezzling cash. But Ragini continues to believe that this is all part of a big misunderstanding, and that Rajan will return and clarify everything. But will Rajan ever return. that is if he is still alive?
