- Louise has a big row with Karen following a girls' night out to celebrate Louise's birthday. It was meant to be for the girls only but Karen pulled, and got off with a man, leaving the bash and leading Louise to accuse her of disloyalty and to move out.

She succeeds in getting his number but ends up in bed with Richard. And he's meant to be gay. Karen gives up the drink and becomes rather a mess as a result. Louise meets Oleg, a customer at the cafe. She has not had sex for two years and finds that Oleg is more than happy to help her make up for lost time!
- It's Donna's thirtieth birthday and she wakes up in bed with a barman and a poor recall of the previous night. Louise decides to get her a birthday present via the Internet but ends up getting into porn exchanges. Karen finds out that Mark has died, so she goes to his funeral, but only to get back the money he owes her.
- To get one over on Oleg, Louise dates reformed flasher Mike. He gets into a fight but she stands by him, declaring,"O.K. so he might be a flasher but he's my flasher!" Donna's efforts to impress her old friend Catherine go predictably awry whilst Karen is appalled to find that Billy has married an Argentinian cleaning lady to give her a British passport.

She goes to a club with Karen and Louise where she embarrasses them by simulating Lesbian moves with her daughter, in order to attract male attention. Donna's efforts to impress Sam's friends are equally disastrous and he eventually tells her to choose between him or Karl.
- Donna saves Karl after he has tried to hang himself and asks her friend Tanya to act as his minder whilst she and Karen go to a party where Karen gets pestered by an obnoxious married man called Mark. On returning home Donna finds that Tanya's efforts at therapy with Karl have not been particularly successful.

However, when she finally turns him down he jumps out of a hot air balloon and ends up in a coma. Karen slaves for piggish Martin, even making a special journey to the mini-mart when she serves him the wrong mustard. She re-encounters old flame Billy, now a drunk with cancer, living in a garage. She rescues him and they marry - his cancer going away - after she has had revenge on Martin. This involves stripping him nude, tying him to a chair with tampons in his ears and nose and a cheese up his arse, covering him with foodstuffs and bringing everyone round to laugh at his humiliation. Donna proposes to Stefan but neither is really keen and she ends up on a station platform with Karl.
- After dating boring but dependable, devoted but despairing, bumbling boy-friend Karl for five years, Donna says yes to tying the knot. Her friends organize a hen night, where she changes her mind, realizing it's hardly true love and simply not the way to happiness. Karl doesn't just take it badly, he's shattered, and convinces Donna at least to wait and go trough with a lunch his mother organized for the wedding guests, without telling anyone yet, but gets drunk there till he tells himself...
