But her happiness is short-lived, as Ms. Madsen intervenes to send Marie back to the radium department, where her health begins to deteriorate. Bjørn goes to extreme measures to help her. Birgit is ready to return to work as a stewardess, but things don't go according to plan. And Ruth feels passed over, while the Matron starts to question whether she made the right decision.

So when an opportunity presents itself, Else helps herself to the spoils. Dr. Friis' parents come for a visit, but leave both Dr. Friis and Lis feeling hurt. The Matron is in love with Klaus, but since he is still a patient, they can't spend any time together. Finally, Ole plans a surprise for Anna for her birthday .

And in an effort to help Nina, John presents her with an even more difficult dilemma.

Unfortunately, he cannot be discharged just yet, so Lis seizes the opportunity to try her hand at a new line of work. Anna is saved from yet another sticky situation, but finds it hard to be happy and grateful. Bent plans a surprise for Nina, which doesn't go exactly according to plan. Aksel learns the truth about Michelle, and a desperate Else tries to get Finn's attention.
- A single mother and her daughter are admitted to Fredenslund under suspicion of ingesting poison. Anna puts everything on the line to help the mother out of her predicament. Nina and Bent are busy planning their wedding when John puts it all on the table for Nina. Margrethe finally stops trying to control things and lets her emotions run their course. And Bjørn and Marie get back together, but their happy reunion is cut short by the sound of an alarm.
