He carries her bags to the farm where she gives the farmer a letter of introduction and is immediately hired. Owata Hobo is so smitten that he works for nothing at the farm. The farmer who is a tyrant beats and mistreats poor Louise. He sends her to fetch to fetch a pail of water. While getting the water she discovers an artist painting a landscape. He asks her to pose for him which she does. In the meantime, Hobo has his troubles with the scarecrow and the farmer. Charlie brings a bouquet of flowers to Louise while she is posing. The artist takes the flowers from him, gives him 50c and tells him to beat it. The farmer discovers Louise posing and drags her back to the farmhouse. He starts to beat her when Hobo comes on the scene. He jumps on the farmer and knocks him out, grabs Louise, puts her on a buck-board and they race away. The artist has witnessed their escape, and follows in a racing car. The buck-board overturns and they are both pretty badly hurt. The artist takes the girl and rides away with her. Charlie gets up, shakes the dirt off himself and travels along his lonely way to nowhere.
- Alice, a little newsgirl known as "Sticks", spends her time fighting for her territory against a lot of tough kids. When Sticks witnesses an attack upon her favorite customer, the wealthy young James Morgan, she tries to defend him and, as a result, they are both knocked unconscious by the thugs and thrown on a baggage car. Awakening in a small town, they decide to stay. Morgan finds a job with the railroad and they take up house in a small cottage until Morgan's father and his sweetheart Ruth Borden discover his hiding place. Overhearing their conversation, Sticks thinks that Morgan is staying just for her and so she leaves him and later is adopted by a wealthy man. Morgan loses all sight of his little pal until years later when he chances to visit her adoptive father's house on business and finds her. Discovering that their strong attachment has endured through the years, the two decide to marry.

Craig, having married Fay on the presumption that she was an heiress, is beside himself with rage when he learns the truth, and he begins neglecting and abusing her, hoping to force a divorce. To this end he brings questionable men and women to his home, and flaunts them before his wife. In defending Fay from a murderous attack by Craig, Cummings kills the fortune hunter. Dale hears of his friend's predicament, and rushing back from his mining camp in the mountains, assists him in procuring the final verdict of "Not Guilty." Dale then renews his attentions to Fay, and in a touching final scene reclaims a love that was really never lost.

She resolves to go to David, catches the midnight train and arrives at David's home at dawn. They meet, each confess love and when David, hesitating, asks what the world will do without her glorious voice, she naively suggests using it for singing lullabies.
- Ryker meets a young girl and takes a liking to her. They bond. She has a boyfriend who has ties to a criminal. He wants him to help him spring someone who's in custody. He then asks his girlfriend to ask Ryker to get him transferred to a hospital. But something goes wrong and the man is killed. The criminal blames him and orders him killed and his girlfriend sees them and gets away and goes on the run.
