- A fantasy from Ibsen's verse drama. Ne'er-do-well and braggart Peer Gynt has many adventures in varied countries, making and losing money, gaining fortune at others' expense, until he finds salvation in the love of Solveig.

The Orphan, recognizing Willard as the man who killed his father, kills him in a gun duel, is made foreman of the Sheriff's ranch, and wins Helen's love.

- In the California desert, homesteaders who are struggling for an existence find their land titles are jeopardized when Cliff Harkness obtains a Spanish land grant superseding their claims. He offers to sell them his title for $25,000; Bent Wade advises them to buy off Harkness, and after desperate efforts the money is turned over to Wade. Meanwhile, Mark King, a city capitalist representing a power company, offers Harkness a much larger sum; Harkness doublecrosses Wade by signing his receipt with disappearing ink and resells the land to King. Faced with eviction, the homesteaders try to lynch Wade, but his friend Lem intervenes and he is jailed. Wade escapes and goes from ranch to ranch, warning the ranchers not to give up their homes without a legal fight; he threatens Harkness with torture, forces him to confess his treachery, and proves the original receipt is legal. He finds happiness with King's daughter, Dorothy.
- A con man and his beautiful accomplice kidnap a manager and steal $500,000 worth of diamonds, but end up stranded in the desert without water.
- Western sheriff Bob Wells is preparing to marry Sally Morgan; she loves part-Indian Wanenis, whose race is an obstacle. Sally flees the wedding with hypochondriac Henry Williams, who thinks he's just giving her a ride; but she left a note saying they've eloped! Chasing them are jilted Bob, Henry's nurse Mary (who's been trying to seduce him) and others.

Palm Springs being the desert playground for the movie stars, the women are introduced to the cavalcade of stars vacationing in Palm Springs at the time. The stars are doing a multitude of recreational activities. One of those stars is Frances Langford, fresh from Broadway, who serenades all those watching with some Broadway related songs. With assistance from Jackie Coogan and Betty Grable, the contest winners do a series of dances to American songs. They then get a chance to interact with the stars, all in the name of fun.
- Hollywood stars visit the Racquet Club in Palm Springs, operated by Charles Farrell and Ralph Bellamy; Walt Disney receives the Legion of Honor cross; George Breakston receives an Italian award; the camera visits Paul Kelly's stables.

When Vicki's snobbish aunt and the manager discover that Vicki now favors popular music to the classics, they arrange to get the club closed. But that doesn't keep Steve and Jeff down. Instead they decide to put on a Broadway show if they can get a backer. They find their "angel" in Vicki's uncle who agrees to finance the show only if Vicki is the leading lady. But once again, Vicki's aunt and manager may be the spoiler in everyone's plans.
