- A Western memorabilia collector is found murdered, and among the victim's belongings is a laptop with August's name in it. August figures out that his name was listed among the descendants of Buffalo Soldiers -- a troop of black soldiers that fought during the Civil War. This brings up a part of August's past that he is ashamed to discuss: his great great-grandfather, Augustus Brooks, was given a dishonorable discharge from the Army when he allegedly deserted his troop with three other soldiers, who all claimed to have been given a map leading to a gold mine that was never proven to exist. August's Aunt Maisie is attacked in her home by a thug, hired to steal a portion of the old map. The pieces have been handed down to each generation, and now someone is attempting to put the pieces together and lay claim to the gold.
- The oddballs attending Mr. Sobel's office birthday party are found passed out on the floor; someone poisoned their lemonade and stole the payroll. The screwy nephew of the company owner confesses, but there are other eccentrics for Maris and Weston to consider: the sexy floozy, the dream interpreter, the hapless birthday boy, and his matronly fiancée.
- Ruth is giddy about going to a tantric workshop with George, who retreats to the emergency shelter.
- In the second season finale, after spending time with Liam and seeing his bravery in confessing his theft to his parents Annie finds the courage to confess to her parents about her hit and run. Jasper gets jealous over Liam and Annie's new closeness and sets fire to Liam's boat, leading to a fight between Liam and Jasper. Naomi secretly reveals to Ryan that Jen's baby is his, and Ryan who is upset that Jen will not let him be in the baby's life drives drunk and ruins the school sign. Dixon and Ivy go through a rough patch after he tells her about kissing Silver, but the real disappointment comes when he finds out he can't go to Australia with her. Adrianna and Navid have a public reconciliation and Adrianna must make the decision of whether to go on a year long tour with Javier. Silver decides to leave the decision of whether Teddy can handle both a relationship and tennis career up to him, who is upset when he finds out that his father tried to bribe Silver to end the relationship. The episode ends with Naomi being taken advantage of by a certain teacher, and realizes the desperation of the situation because she has already falsely accused him of harassment before.
