- Andrew Ross from MIT arrives at Sun Hill, having been asked to oversee the serial killer operation in the borough. Nixon cozies up to none other than a returning Lennox, in an attempt to get in on a slice of the action, and goes all-out to prove her theory is one that MIT should consider. As a battered Kane and Bradford continue their search for missing Asian teenager Samina, they make a shock discovery, and Kane races to find her. Chandler finds himself in even deeper water when Anne Merrick is found dead after a fall, and the finger is pointed firmly in his direction. He subsequently asks McAllister to provide him with another false alibi, but how far will she go to protect him?
- Best and Stamp attend a call to a man who has been found dead in his flat, but upon arrival, discover that his wife has also gone missing. However, they soon begin to realize that their search for a grieving relative may be nothing more than a wild goose chase, and a case of double identity. The net begins to close around Chandler when he is unable to prove his whereabouts at the time of Anne Merrick's death, and an agitated McAllister refuses to provide him with a false alibi. Chandler gives his alibi as a disabled driver whom he helped change a tyre for, but CIB don't believe him, leaving McAllister with the only option of trying to locate the driver in an attempt to clear Chandler's name.
- Ashton and Young investigate a robbery, and discover that Gilmore's car was used as the getaway vehicle. Realising that his boyfriend is responsible, they decide to cover up their discovery. Rickman shows new recruit Gemma Osbourne the ropes on her first shift at Sun Hill. Rickman is stalked by the sister of an old friend. Gilmore suspects that Ashton still has feelings for him when he discovers that he covered up the robbery to save his skin. When he attempts to make a move, Ashton rebuffs him and reveals he and Young are engaged.
- Bradford ignores the urgent calls of domestic violence victim Paula Robinson and her son, and is shocked when she is brutally beaten by her husband. Paula's young son volunteers to act as bait for the father when he eludes the police, but De Costa begins to have serious doubts about Bradford. Now working as a CAD officer, Cryer realizes that Bradford's deceit is responsible for the assault on Paula, and threatens to tell all to Okaro. A desperate Bradford calls Cryer and insists the reason she's been so out of sorts is because she has a stalker. She then requests urgent assistance, which Cryer knows is a lie, and ignores. When a 999 call comes through, Taviner and Kent find Bradford badly injured in a stairwell.
- Gold has no choice but to suspend Cryer following Bradford's hospitalization, and Cryer is escorted from the station. Desperate to save her job, Cryer calls on her uncle, Bob, and the pair do some investigation into Bradford's lies. Sandra Malik, the doctor who Bradford harassed and framed, has moved to Australia, so they track down Petra McAvoy, whom Bradford beat up in the interview room. Petra is only too happy to make a statement, but once again, her evidence is called into question. Kent ignores Taviner's advice when he sympathizes with a depressed father and helps him get bail, but Kent's good deed has tragic and fatal consequences. Page's bail hearing is refused, and she is sent to prison.
- A turf war threatens to blow up on the Cockroft estate between Kalisha Jarrett and her rival dealers, but when one of her henchmen runs down her nephew Wayne at her request, Wayne's brother Leo Price offers to help Smithy catch his evil aunt with the proceeds of a drug deal. However, when the raid yields a stash of fake drugs, Leo is furious to discover that his aunt may be off the hook. Meanwhile, Bradford, still in the boiler room with Kane's kids, turns off the station heating in an attempt to leave a clue to her whereabouts. An engineer arrives to fix the problem, but when he is knocked unconscious by Bradford, Ackland and Harman arrive to find out that Bradford is closer than anyone expected.
- WPC Andrea Dunbar arrives at Sun Hill for her first shift and her keenness seems too good to be true but little do the relief know that they have an undercover reporter in their midst when Eva discovers that Debbie told Neil about Jack's affair she is furious and the pair come to blows but tensions run high between Jack and Neil when Neil declares he wants Sharpe out of CID no matter what just as he is announcing her departure to the rest of the department Jack comes in with an offer for Eva to join MIT Polly is snubbed by Neil during her first shift back and things turn from bad to worse when she returns home to find the word 'murderer' painted across her flat window.
- Okaro is furious when he discovers that Thatcher has asked Young to go undercover with the Radfords, without permission from himself, Gold or Meadows. Ackland returns to work after being hit by the Area Car, despite the fact that in a week she is taking further leave to marry Carver, with preparations for their wedding coming along nicely. Nixon's daughter gets involved with a local criminal, much to her dismay. Has she really flown off the rails, or is someone persuading her to do something she doesn't want to do? Meadows decides to apply for custody of his son with Rachel Heath, but finds that the situation is much more complicated than first expected when it transpires she has more than one child. Young leaves work early, after being told she can't go under cover, she goes to a bar and chats up the elder Radford brother.
- At June's leaving party, Jim reveals the extent of his debts. Steve and Amber have a quick rendezvous, Ramani attempts to build bridges between Maggie and her husband, and Amber's second day on the job proves eventful when she and June uncover a family terrorizing residents on a local estate.
- An elderly male is found with head injuries. Okaro checks on Ramini after the prank call. Gary needs a result to improve his reputation. Roger is tasked with helping Ramini but puts his foot in it. There's a new face stirring up trouble on the Coal Lane estate that intrigues Laura and Lance. Sam is frustrated that she can't put away Kennedy. Tony and Reg find Kennedy beaten up in his flat. Lance accidentally ruins the CID operation. Margaret finds Ramini's missing diary. A drug dealer is shot in the estate. Sam has a final chance to stop Kennedy. Margaret steps in to support Ramini when an abusive husband attacks her.
- DS Pete Lancaster from Trident arrives to take over the case involving the shooting of drug dealer Andy Marshall. Lance's suspicions that rival Adi Mateen is responsible for the shooting finds him entering a murky world of rival dealing. Laura manages to identify a young girl spotted running away from the scene, and the prime suspect is soon identified as dealer Carlton Gayle. Meanwhile, Sam and Terry are on the trail of Alan Kennedy when he claims to have kidnapped one of his former victims. However, Sam soon realizes that Kennedy has set a trap for her. Ramani deals with a woman who has been savagely beaten by her husband, but is upset when the woman's witness statement disappears.
- DC Zain Nadir reports in for a debrief on Operation Mercury with Okaro and Meadows. Yvonne's situation becomes serious when advised Lee Thomas has died. Zain is angry that his cover was blown by Lance and feels frustrated to be asked to continue his work via CID. Honey meets with Gina and asks to be reinstated while Yvonne is suspended pending the inquest.. Zain gets introduced to the team. Tony feels bad for Yvonne and frustrated when a routine arrest has some citizens complaining about police brutality. Honey visits Scott in prison telling her to forget about him. Zain hits the ground running with some early arrests but needs Terry's help to find a secret warehouse. Manson is not sold on DC Nadir's plan to get into the warehouse. A man claims PC Kapoor assaulted him when being arrested and wants compensation. Things are strained between Gina and Adam. Gina has to deliver bad news to Honey so asks Yvonne to check in her. Zain manages to capture a key person Leon Walsh the operation. Zain gets a death threat and Tony is severely beaten.
- The relief are shocked at Tony's bashing. Tony tries to provide details of the attack to Roger. Meadows remains Zain to keep the team involved in his operation. The relief are getting frustrated over the lack of support from the top. Zain is determined to get Armstrong the senior drug trafficker. Zain gets another threat. Meadows demands Zain tell him what's going on when he witnesses Armstrong threatening Zain. June reminds the relief to act professionally when dealing with offenders. June visits Tony in hospital as confides that he hesitated in using his asp. Zain lies to Lance to get him to join him in finding Armstrong's lick up. Dan and Rochelle find a moment to be together. Lance gets cornered by Armstrong. June has a tense meeting with Okaro. Armstrong holds Zain and Lance hostage. Dan gets an a threatening letter to expose his affair with a married woman. June Ackland tells Adam Okaro that the relief are on strike unless he can support their concerns.

- Meadows is running the drug supply investigation. Okaro is under pressure as a photo of him smoking a joint with Isaac has been sent to the borough commander. Tony's having fun teasing Amber. Adam tells Gina and Jack he has resigned. The rumor mill goes into overdrive at the station about Okaro. Isaac supports Okaro at the pub. Manson's concerned when Susie tells him she is now being bullied at work. Rochelle and Dan are nearly caught by the her husband. Isaac turns on Okaro now knowing he is undercover and plans his getaway.
- Ramani is being held against her will by the real killer. The team is on red alert to find her in time. Sam wants to get Peter's knowledge and help. DI Morrell is furious when she finds out about Sam's deal with him. Ramani tries to talk to David to understand his reasons for killing Manisha. A major search is underway with officers searching abandoned buildings when they hear Ramani's phone ringing. Sam arrests David before he hurts Ramani. The team still need to find the other missing woman Rebecca. Baxter is enjoying being needed while David is denying his involvement and claims he is innocent. Sam goes to see one of Baxter's former victims to honor her part of the deal. Baxter helps Sam find Rebecca. DNA results don't match David's so he has to be released with no evidence. Roger and June try and talk to juvenile Ross about setting fires on the estate. June chases after Ross but he knocks her out. David is arrested again when Ramani tracks him down. Baxter is stabbed and June reports a rape.
- June is in shock and the relief are appalled that she was raped. June asked Sheelagh to do her interview. The hunt is on for Ross Trescott. Gabriel nearly goes too far when arresting Ross and Tony has to take over. Susie and Gabriel interview Ross with his mother. Ross kicks off in the interview at his mother and a fight breaks out revealing cigarette burn marks all over his arm. Yvonne's case is all over the papers. Phil's stressed that Kate has set a date for the wedding and has to tell her that he is still married. June breaks down when she gets a text from Jim asking if she is happy. Gina supports Yvonne at the hearing. Steve and Kate cross the line when he visits to get her to give Phil another chance. Yvonne struggles when questioned.
- Two new faces join Sun Hill. Emma Keane & Lewis Hardy. Valentine & Kapoor are assigned to help them. Hardy gets off to a bad start.
