Jim Phelps and his team of agents get the assignment to locate and steal back the money originally stolen by the Berezans, with the purpose of returning it to the people of Alcante.
- During World War Ii, Hitler amassed a huge amount of gold, which he entrusts to four of his confidantes to make sure that his legacy continues. But because several Nazis were apprehended in the 60's, which was when they were suppose to make their move, they choose to let the next generation handle it. And they are ready to make their move so Jim is instructed to stop them. Jim has Max replace the one member they know of because they've never met. And they're meeting in Switzerland. After the four meet, one of them asks them to reveal a number they were told to remember, which is the code to a Swiss account. But, because Max doesn't know, he says he won't reveal it till they all go to the bank. The one who asks pulls a gun and tells Max to reveal it because it is only the beginning, they're still more they need from each other. But Max stands his ground and Jim has to find a way to get the number. And plans to use the history of the man who pulled the gun on Max to drive a wedge between them.

The police in New Orleans are convinced that the girls have fallen victims to Jake Morgan, a jazz club owner who they also believe is responsible for an extensive white slavery business that kidnaps young girls and sells them as slaves to countries in Africa and Asia. If Morgan really is guilty of these accusations, it is up to the IMF-team to find the evidence and hopefully also a complete records of all the girls that have been sold through the organisation. If records can be found, the girls in question can be tracked, and hopefully also ultimately saved from slavery.
- Several important people in very high positions around the world have during the latest year been assassinated by someone very close to them - such as for instance their personal advisor or private secretary. In every case, the assassin died soon after having performed the deed - not surviving long enough to be interrogated or to disclose any motive. The only apparent thing that the assassins had in common is that they all at one time or another had been patients at an exclusive stress clinic for the rich and famous, run by Dr Philip Westerly. Seeing as Dr Westerly has also been spotted on video footage taken at the scene before several of the murders took place, it is believed that Westerly is the key to the assassinations and the method with which they were performed. Jim Phelps and his team of agents are assigned to the mission of infiltrating the stress clinic; to discover how Dr Westerly sets up his assassinations, and to put him out of the murdering business for good.

Jim Phelps and his team of agents are sent to Orambaq with the mission to destroy this genetic virus before it can be unleashed, and to wreck Yousef K's project at its base.
- Jim Phelps and his team of agents get the mission to put Douglas Matthews - Australian cattle breeder, investor, and international arms dealer to terrorists - out of business. The IMF-team are however not alone in wanting to destroy Matthews. So are a group of Australian aborigines; infuriated by the fact that Matthews has killed their people and desecrated their lands in the process of his arms dealing.
- Former IMF team leader Jim Phelps returns when his friend and protégé is killed. He would learn that his friend was in the midst of identifying a master criminal who is only known by the name Scorpio, so Scorpio sent his killer, a man who goes by many names who currently uses Matthew Drake, to take care of him. Jim's mission is to stop his next contract and to somehow find out who Scorpio is. So Jim selects 4 team members, Nicholas Black, a master of disguise, Casey Randall, a fashion designer who joined IMF to help get the ones who killed her fiance, Max Harte, a man who organized his own mission to locate his brother who went MIA in Vietnam and Grant Collier, the son of one of Jim's old team members, Barney Collier. They learn that Drake will be going to London where no doubt his next contract will be. So they make sure Drake stays at the hotel they picked to learn who the target is and Grant takes his place. But, when they lose Drake, can they figure out how he will do it in time to save Grant.
- Following that Prince Arkadi, ruler of the small principality of Valance, met, fell in love with, and finally married, Elaine Murchison, the daughter of an American ambassador, the Prince began being increasingly exposed to western ways, values, and ideas. As a result of his new wife and her American lifestyle, he began modernising and democratising his country, none of which pleased Gregor Caron, an anti-American and leader of a group known as "The Valance Red Garde". It is believed that Caron now plans to have the Princess Elaine murdered in order to stop all her western influence on her husband. Jim Phelps and his team of agents get the mission to stop this murder from ever taking place, something which however turns out to be more difficult than they first imagined. Not only is Valance just about to host an important film festival, where huge crowds and public appearances from both the Prince and Princess would make her a very easy target, but Caron also appears to have hired a hit man to do the job for him. The elusive hit man in question is to the world only known by his code name of "Coyote."
- During the last few months, several high officials in the Egyptian government have been found murdered by a brutal form of strangulation. It is believed that Horus Selim, director of the prestigious Museum of the Ancients in Egypt, is somehow involved with the killings. Selim firmly believes that Egypt should try its hardest to return to its glorious and powerful past when ruled by Pharaohs, and has long criticised any government policies trying to start negotiations and alliances with other countries. Jim Phelps and his team of agents are sent to Egypt on a mission to determine whether or not Selim really did have something to do with these murders, and to make the killings stop before they interfere with impending peace talks in the Middle East.

Jim Phelps and his team of agents are assigned to the mission to infiltrate the Eurospace consortium at their base in Australia, discover what really happened to pilot Daniel Bergerac, and to make sure that the Frontier One will not be used for any evil purposes.
