- Commissioner Piet Becker is no longer in the mood. After decades with the criminal police, he surrenders his gun and badge. Not that he didn't enjoy his job - but Piet still wants to make a fresh start. After all, what use is a successful career if it has been light years since you felt really good and carefree? Before he can start his new life, however, he has to travel to Husum to sell the house of his recently deceased aunt. Piet has very special memories of this place. He and his brother Hannes spent their summer holidays here every year as teenagers. With Piet as the singer, Hannes on the bass, the pretty Paula on the piano and the buddy Rüdiger on the drums, they really made music back then. Today the music parties and the palpitations when Paula was around are little more than a wistful memory for Piet. The rocky Rüdiger now leads a middle-class family life, Paula works as a doctor in the practice of the renowned Dr. Sander - and the shrewd Hannes rascals through the world as a marriage swindler. Surprisingly, Hannes turns up at the same time as Piet in Husum, he is in financial difficulties. The two dissimilar brothers - the cop and the marriage impostor - have actually had nothing to say to each other for a long time. The old days, the band, the parties seem to be a thing of the past. But then a young woman named Juliane Martens is found dead - and suddenly the old friends have to move back together. Because the police suspect Hannes of all people as the perpetrator, as he camped with his trailer near the crime scene and was the last to be seen with the victim. Piet knows that his rascal brother would not be capable of such a brutal crime and decides to protect him. It's not that easy at all, because the awkward Inspector Röder would like to arrest Hannes immediately. Rüdiger and Paula are also involved in the search for a murderer - and so the old combo starts again, not realizing that Paula, of all people, is closer to the perpetrator than she can be: a respected citizen of the city, actually beyond any doubt .
- For 25 years, Elli ran a farm in provincial Bavaria alongside her husband. This not entirely legal Robin Hood method becomes her undoing when the old clinic owner dies and a community of investors takes over. The new bosses, who want to turn the traditional house into a luxury clinic anyway, accuse Kathi of fraud and put not only her, but the entire workforce at the door without notice. Almuth has a big problem: she doesn't love herself, so she is unable to feel affection for others. If a conversation threatens to become too personal, she uses the phrase "That's enough, change the subject!" to finish briskly. Even her relationship with her mother Elisabeth, who lives in a nursing home, is of a clearly cold nature - no wonder, because Almuth does not want to admit to herself how much she has taken over from the cool, outwardly dismissive character of her wife Mama. At the same time, Leitmayr bites deeper and deeper into the case, which leads him more and more to the limits of himself. Two days later, Riedeck was found brutally murdered in the basement of his house. Unlike Lisa, whose death happened silently and almost invisibly, Riedeck was killed with forty hammer blows. And what could it be that someone with such unbridled violence needed to get rid of? In particular, he has taken under his wing talented young asylum-seeker Samy, who lost her family while fleeing Afghanistan. It doesn't take long for Billy to understand that the "champion" is more than just a coach for Samy and the other youngsters: an enforcement against Burdenski would deprive the young people of this refuge. Therefore, Billy looks for ways and means to help get the boxing legend back on his feet. She turns to his daughter Jessica, but she only saw her father's worst sides at the height of his success, so she wants nothing more to do with him. Ex-husband Gunnar and stalker neighbor Holger help Billy this time, both providing decisive assistance in the fight for Burdenski's boxing school. The anti-Semitism researcher Matthias Becker from the Technical University in Berlin is breaking new ground. Together with European partner universities, he is developing an AI, an artificial intelligence, which is supposed to research and decode anti-Semitism online, because there, hatred of Jews can often only be found hidden. According to Becker, "socially acceptable" anti-Semitism is dead and wearing new clothes in post-war Germany. Nobody wants to be considered an anti-Semite today. "The anti-Semites," says Michael Blume, the committed anti-Semitism commissioner for the state of Baden-Württemberg, "are always the others". Anti-Semitic tendencies are mostly denied, especially in the middle of society. But Blume does not give up and puts his finger in the wounds he sees - be it Muslim hatred of Jews in schools or Israel-related anti-Semitism, which today sees all the evil in the world in the Jewish state. "Meet a Jew" program against anti-Semitic prejudice The Central Council of Jews in Germany is breaking new ground with "Meet a Jew": The program sends Jews to schools and the public. Nothing breaks down anti-Semitic prejudices better than face-to-face encounters. So far, contemporary witnesses have kept the memory of the Holocaust alive. But soon the last contemporary witnesses will no longer be alive. In Israel, a photographer portrays Holocaust survivors from a very personal, life-affirming perspective. His pictures are examples of a new, emotional culture of remembrance. He believes that Jewish haters and Holocaust deniers cannot be dealt with with history lessons. In Berlin, "The Democracy Guides" are making films with Arab migrants - including films that target anti-Semitism, which is often deeply rooted in Muslim societies. Like "Meet a Jew", they are supported by the federal government. Churches are also going on the offensive. Christian Staffa is the anti-Semitism officer of the EKD, the Evangelical Church in Germany. He relies on education and the ruthless handling of the churches' own anti-Semitic history. In Neuruppin, Brandenburg, he organized a two-day focus on hatred of Jews with an entire school. Never again anti-Semitism? Given almost two millennia of institutionalized hatred of Jews, this slogan is wishful thinking. Everyone who has written the fight against anti-Semitism on their banner agrees on this. But there are new strategies - in education, politics and legislation - and they are bearing fruit.

In order to learn from mistakes, Vera has also prescribed more restraint in her job.
