- Sahira is torn between the two men in her life. She desperately tries to fight her feelings for Greg, but feels vulnerable when she needs his support in an extremely complex heart operation. Greg volunteers to go with Sahira to a work conference when Hanssen has to step down. Together they are a brilliant team and secure funding for the Cardiac Trauma Unit. After such a successful evening, will Sahira be able to resist a goodnight kiss? Ric is annoyed by the press interest, but Hanssen is pleased to have potentially good PR for the hospital. It is a stressful time, and Chantelle gets caught in the crossfire. Time is running out for Frieda to complete her F1 portfolio on AAU. With no other consultant available, she asks Michael Spence to assess her.
- Sahira is tired of Hanssen's new management regime, but when Kris Swann arrives as Sir Fraser's management consultant, Hanssen is less than pleased and rallies support from the team. But Sahira is determined to treat her patients as best she knows how, until she realises how much pressure Hanssen really is under. Sacha blocks out the AAU team and remains secretive about a patients CT scan, a suspicious Chrissie suspects something so goes behind Sacha's back. Chantelle's day doesn't get off to a good start when she accidentally crashes into Ric's car!
- Malick's nightmare continues as he struggles to keep control of events. As Paul's kidney failure worsens, Malick takes more and more risks in an effort to save him. When Paul's brother, Adam, dies, Malick blames himself. Chrissie is struggling with the plans for her wedding. Desperate for it to be perfect, she refuses any offer of help. However, when she sees a genuinely happily married couple she realises that she has never had that - at least not with Dan. Jac, still bruised from saying goodbye to baby Freya, takes out her frustrations on new F1 Kip Maxwell. Prejudging him on his age (he's older than most F1s) and questioning his commitment when he constantly takes calls on his phone, she is left embarrassed when he reveals why he has been so distracted.
- Greg struggles to keep his distance from Sahira, but is gutted when she reveals she is leaving Holby to move with her husband and his new job. Working on an RTA victim together, Hanssen learns of her desire to leave and does all he can to change her mind. When high-achieving F1 student Jez Atkins is admitted after an RTA accident, Frieda's insecurity about her own ability to pass her F1 grows. When Frieda learns she has been summoned to Hanssen's office for her results, she can only assume the worst for her future in medicine. A happy Chrissie and Sacha return from their holiday in Australia. Dan is forced to work with them and pretends he is fine with their burgeoning romance. But it's not long before his anger takes over and Dan has to face some painful truths.
- Hanssen is met by Sir Fraser and is told that Holby reaching foundation Trust Status will be put on hold. Aware that the hospitals fate relies on today's performance, can Hanssen prove that he has full support of his staff? Elizabeth returns to Keller from compassionate leave, only to receive some unexpected news. Chrissie is determined to prove herself to Eddi, realising her nurse practitioner module relies on Eddi's sign off. Now engage to Dan, Chrissie's personal life has begun to interfere with her professional life.
- When Malick hears about Michael's resignation, he opts to spend the day on AAU trying to impress him. Malick and Luc argue over the treatment of a trauma patient with glass stuck in his leg. Malick lets his ego trump his judgement. Sahira's had enough of Greg's special treatment and tells him to keep his distance. With Dan on a conference in Miami, Oliver is left in charge of all things orthopaedic.
- When Malick's ex-boyfriend Paul and his family are involved in an accident that brings them to Holby, Malick is surprised by the strength of his feelings for Paul. Malik suggests a risky plan to save him and his brother, but when the reality of that plan hits Malick, he is left wondering if he has gone too far. Jac is still secretly besotted with baby Freya, who has unbelievably broken through her defences. When Nicole, Freya's mother, returns, Jac lies to social services. Chrissie tries to convince herself that she and Dan are on the right track after a rocky patch.
- Sahira confronts Hanssen about the administration and communication chaos that exists in their department, but Hanssen refuses to engage and keeps his distance. When a complex emergency trauma case comes in, Hanssen is forced to get involved - but his cautious approach clashes with the risks that Sahira needs him to take. Michael is doing his best to stay detached and serve his notice. But when Rose, a former breast implant patient, is admitted, Michael is forced to re-visit the repercussions of the plastics scandal. Dan is pleased to see Chrissie after his conference trip, but soon has to face awkward questions about why Greg is not his best man. Will Dan have the guts to be honest with Chrissie?
- Michael returns to Holby for his disciplinary hearing. Michael and Ric lock horns once more over a patient in desperate need of Michael's expertise. Jac spots an opportunity to capitalise on Michael's mistakes, and tries everything she can to distance herself from the plastics fiasco. When Jac misses out on a career-enhancing procedure, she tries to convince Ollie to join forces on a new research project. Ollie finds out some information about Jac concerning the plastics scandal. Dan pressurises Chrissie about wedding plans and she loses her temper.
- Sahira is delighted when Hanssen invites her to a conference in Stockholm, but soon realises she has to pull out when it clashes with her wedding anniversary. Hanssen seems to be okay with the change of plan, but when a young patient is admitted with an intriguing case, Hanssen uses it as an opportunity to draw Sahira back in. Chrissie pretends all is fine with Dan, but finds herself distracted in her practical exam. Chrissie admires the courage of Becky Unwin, a surviving rape victim who appears to have been able to move on. Chantelle's happy-go-lucky attitude reassures Andy Taylor, a nervous patient prior to his surgery. But when her driving test results force her to rethink her approach, her change of attitude puts Andy at risk.
- When baby Freya's test results reveal a very rare heart condition, Jac goes against Elliot's instructions and decides to perform a potentially life-threatening procedure. As the operation draws closer Jac begins to question the validity of her decision. The operation is successful, until baby Freya develops a bleed and Jac has to step up and save her life. A new senior registrar joins AAU. Baby Freya is in danger when an AAU patient who has been jailed for kidnapping learns of Freya's presence, whilst in jail the patient contracted a form of TB, causing Eddi to put AAU on lock down. For the research project Ollie must gather information from Orthopaedics, being an F2 down, Ollie offers to help Dan, Ollie likes Dan's method and begins to question his future on Darwin.
- Eddi is suffering with the effects of the previous night's New Year's celebration. She doesn't get much time to feel sorry for herself, though, when she finds Rachel, a hung-over and freezing woman who has passed out. Luc disagrees on her course of treatment, creating a huge rift between them. Ollie is enjoying his new found respect and a good working relationship with Dan. He knows it is a far cry from being Jac Naylor's punch bag. Despite this, Ollie realises that the work is not exactly the adrenaline-high octane level he's used to on Darwin. When a simple ankle procedure becomes complicated, he is happy to be involved again in the world of high-stakes surgery. Realising where his heart truly lies, he confesses to a disappointed Dan that he wants to return to Darwin. Sahira is tasked with finding a secret shopper who has been admitted on Darwin. When two unruly and warring patients disrupt things on the ward, Sahira and Greg try to keep things calm whilst flirting with each other. She and Greg strike up New Year's resolutions- her to give up crisps and Greg cigarettes.
- Elliot arrives in Kiev under the impression he is to give a lecture to a group of students, but he discovers the real reason he has been invited is to perform a risky heart operation. Sacha is determined to cheer up Chrissie after her recent split from Dan, but when he wrongly assumes her feelings for him aren't real, he risks losing everything.
