- Using $3G they got via yet another high-interest loan from Rene, Ben and Cam buy up a roll of hot premium-denim material, then hit a series of dead ends in their search to find a manufacturer to make samples of their Crisp brand of retro-ʻ70s jeans. Along the way, they parlay a crashed late-night dinner with top fashion designer John Varvatos into a brainstorming meeting that may, or may not, hold the key to their entrepreneurial success. Meanwhile, both Ben and Rachel realize that they havenʼt totally moved on, and vow to try harder in the future.

Troubled by Tancyʼs surprising revelation about Margene and Ben, Bill decides that a change of scene might be best for his firstborn son.
- On March 25, 1911, a catastrophic fire broke out at the Triangle Shirtwaist Company in New York City. Trapped inside the upper floors of a 10-story building, 146 workers--mostly young immigrant women and teenage girls--were burned alive or forced to jump to their deaths to escape an inferno that consumed the factory in just 18 minutes. It was the worst disaster at a workplace in New York State until 9/11. The tragedy changed the course of history, paving the way for government to represent working people, not just business, for the first time, and helped an emerging American middle class to live the American Dream.
- Ignoring pleas from Nicki to become Juniper Creekʼs next prophet, Bill contemplates running for the vacant Utah State Senate seat against ardent polygamy foe Roy Colburn. Joey and Wanda return to Juniper Creek, but a suspicious J.J. is lurking. J.J., making his mark in a UEB satellite compound in Kansas, has a contentious dinner at the Henricksonsʼ with his cancer-ridden wife Malinda. Barb confronts Nicki about her feelings for Ray Henry, whoʼs moving away after losing his case. A reform-minded Dale tries to keep Alby at bay, to little avail.
- With the grand opening of the Blackfoot Magic Casino only days away, the Henricksons make last minute preparations under the skeptical eye of Tommy Flute, son of Bill's partner Jerry. As the Feds continue to probe unfinished business concerning Roman Grant, Alby has a close encounter with Dale Tomasson, the state-appointed trustee of Juniper Creek's assets. At the compound, Adaleen shares a shocking secret with Nicki. Though her home-shopping business, is thriving, Margie makes an on-air slip that prompts her boss Beverly to voice concerns about possible burnout. Worried for her safety, Lois makes Frank an offer, and Bill and Nicki's ex work out an arrangement to allow Cara Lynn to stay at the Henrickson's house while attending high school during the week.
- Bill, Nicki and Cara Lynn travel to Washington, D.C., where Bill tries to land an endorsement from Congressman Clark Paley while repairing his relationship with Nicki. First, however, he has to get past a faux pas heʼs made with Marilyn Densham, Paleyʼs political crony. Back in Utah, Margene and her "Hearts on a Sleeve" line go prime time, but her on-air triumph is tempered by a case of mistaken identity. Joined by Sarah, Barb leads a series of seminars on sensitivity training at the casino. Fearing that Wanda spilled the beans about Romanʼs murder to J.J., Joey goes to extremes to safeguard their dirty secret. Barb and Sarah hit a young Native American woman with their car, prompting Sarah to personally compensate the victim and her baby. Even as his affection for Dale deepens, Alby is tormented by reminders of his late fatherʼs judgment.
- After restful post-election days in the wilderness, reality hits the Henricksons on their return to Salt Lake City. At Home Plus, Billʼs attempts to bolster morale in the wake of his polygamist revelation fall on mostly deaf ears, and he faces an uphill battle for his political life even before the swearing-in. At home, he tries to assuage the concerns of his wives and kids, who face psychological - and physical - threats around town. To stem this growing tide of ill will, Bill decides to hold an open house for his 40,000 constituents, some of whom may actually show up. Alby returns from his desert exile with a newfound desire to "purify" the compound, and exact vengeance on Bill.
- Ace enlists Nathan Israel, a cocky, young whiz kid, in his plans. Walter decides to enter his colt, Gettinʼup Morning, in his first race, but loses Ronnie as his rider when the jockey takes a tumble. Burned by Mulligan at the claiming race, Marcus, Renzo and Lonnie send Jerry to buy the horse back - and then return him to Escalante to train.
- Bill pulls out all the stops in his efforts to win Paleyʼs support for the state senate nomination, while Nicki relishes her role as his campaignʼs "secret weapon." Marilyn makes a pitch to represent the casinoʼs interests in Washington, but encounters resistance from Tommy. Frank picks an inopportune moment to drop by the casino with Lois and Jodean. Bill absorbs a last-minute sucker punch from Colburn, but turns the tide by embracing the Lost Boy in himself.
- As Chan challenges Jerry to his limits in a private poker game, Jerry's pals look to pry him away from his gambling nemesis. Ace takes a meeting with Claire LeChea, an activist who hopes to rehabilitate prisoners through their work with broken-down racehorses. He then visits his one-time partner Michael Smythe to discuss his participation in Ace's racetrack venture. With Ronnie out of commission and surrendering to old vices, Walter settles on Rosie as his jockey, but her euphoria is tempered by Leon's not making weight.

As Jerry maps out a strategy for another big score, Escalante preps his race-day horses while keeping an anxious ear out for news about Jo, whoʼs still in the hospital. Renzo welcomes his mother to town. Mon Gateau runs his biggest race yet. Later, Ace and Gus join an expectant crowd for the epic showdown between the two stars of Santa Anita, Ace and Gus' Pint of Plain and Walter's Gettin'Up Morning.
- Stephen shares a news story about 42 midget warriors who were mutilated by a single lion in a Cambodian ring fight, as well as an e-mail from fan Paul "The Party Animal" Parker, about a Serbian man who invented a sex machine for women. Karl ponders how to avoid being conned into donating to charities, which segues into a discussion of sex. A dialogue about America's first nudist organization leads Ricky to critique naked gym jocks, inspiring a revelation from Karl. The guys debate if there is ever a good time to eat the penis of a kangaroo.
- Chafing under his parole conditions but eager to move forward in the racetrack deal, Ace shows off his famous temper during a contentious meeting with one-time colleague Nick DiRossi and a possible investor, Isadore Cohen. Although Marcus is wary about flaunting his newfound Pick Six wealth, his three partners have no such qualms, as Jerry sits in at higher-stakes poker games, Renzo sets his sights on claiming one of Escalanteʼs mystery horses and Lonnie parties with two unscrupulous women. Uncertain that fledgling jockey Rosie Shanahan is seasoned enough to ride his once-in-a-lifetime horse, Walter Smith enlists Ronnie Jenkins, ignoring the veteran jockeyʼs recent history of substance abuse.
- Antoine contemplates a move, while LaDonna resists one; Davis moves in new directions, personally and professionally; Toni worries about Sofiaʼs emotional distance; Colson contends with the return of crime to New Orleans; Annie returns from a national tour. In New York, Delmond debuts his new album, while Janette holds her tongue in the kitchen of a demanding boss. Juvenile sits in with Galactic and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band.
- After explaining the intentions of the show in their live-action guises, Ricky and Stephen morph into animated versions of themselves and debate the merits of 20th century inventions with Karl, who feels that pretty much everything people need was invented before the turn of that century. As for new discoveries he would like to see, Karl favors a "non-traditional," if impractical, approach to having kids. He also argues that people have "more than six senses"; intimates that cavemen and dinosaurs co-existed; and recalls a story about a pub tankard that killed anyone who touched it. The guys introduce the recurring "Monkey News" segment, in which Karl describes how banana trained monkeys launched and piloted space vehicles before humans.
- With the specter of jail time looming, Bill charts out contingency plans for the family, while orchestrating a last-minute preemptive referendum on the senate floor. Meanwhile, Barb goes forward with her plan to join a reform-minded church; Margene contemplates taking a hiatus to serve as a volunteer abroad; and Nicki despairs being left alone as her family splinters. Cara Lynn considers a return to her roots; Ben enlists Rhonda to help him win over Heather; Don shares some bad news with Bill about Home Plus. As Easter arrives, the Henricksons receive heartening support from their polygamist constituents, briefly lifting the dark cloud that's been hovering over the family since Bill's election. Finally, an unexpected vision leads Bill to a final confrontation with his most deeply-held beliefs.
- When his skateboard-deck business venture hits the wall, twentysomething graphic designer Ben agrees to fund a "sure thing" leather-jacket hustle proposed by good-times best friend Cam. The scheme morphs into downright desperation when Camʼs cousin Rene gets out of jail, looking for repayment of an old loan. Meanwhile, Ben is bummed to discover his ex-girlfriend Rachel is dating Darren, a hot hotelier, and finds little comfort in his horny pursuit of a sexy young thing during her late-night party. With Rene threatening bodily injury if Cam and Ben donʼt repay the loan, David, a schoolmate turned hedge-fund millionaire, saves the day, at least for the moment.

Emotionally frayed after separate encounters with Damon and Vera-Joan, Tanya visits Frances and Ray to try to make amends. After getting a lift from Mindy, Ronnie returns home to find that Jessica has made a decision that could impact both of their futures.

Fed up with Tanyaʼs greed and confused by Mikeʼs request for a donation, Frances doubts their affair. Jessicaʼs old itch resurfaces, prompting Ronnie to deliver a sideline ultimatum to her ex.
